Completely agree with this post, you already paid for a game, dont need to do it twice. Paid games with IAP are the worst and the inevitable demise of the platform. Hope we revert it back.

That's a darn good trailer, but man this free-to-play mumbo jumbo is really worrying me. I still have hope for the sequel to one of my all time favorite games, but EA has let us down plenty in the past. Well, guess all we can do is wait and see.

Plants vs Zombies is one of my most loved games on my ipad but no..

Freemium!!! WTF are you guys smoking??

    I'm out, dealbreaker.

and this ^^^ is why so many companies head to freemium.

because some people have ZERO will power and succumb to their crap, which makes it popular and the company makes even more freemium crap.

STOP DOWNLOADING IT!! - Then when it dies, they will get the message but if you keep filling their pockets, it will NEVER change.

Yes stop supporting those games and let them drown, I wont succumb to them at all. Wish I could lend some of my will power (I have tons) to people to do this

Yes like I said earlier freenium and IAP will destroy iOS gaming. We have to stop it before a great port comes out that is ruined by freenium crap!!!

Honestly, don't know why everyone is freaking out about PvZ2 being F2P. Here's a direct quote from there official twitter:

@PlantsvsZombies: @shadowboom PvZ2 is free! You can complete the game, visit every world, and face every zombies without a single purchase. ^GeorgeShroomey

So, you can probably pay to remove ads or buy some items that make it a little easier. I thought I.A.P was incorporated very well into the original PvZ game, and I'm very excited to play this once it's out! :)

They are saying that you can FACE every zombie in the game without paying, not defeating them!
Or you could end up grinding a level dead before you will be able to purchase another plant or your arsenal...

The original pvz had iaps added later just for a quick moneygrab. I remember they locked lots of game modes I had already compleated off, just so you could purchase them again via overpriced virtual currency. That my friend was BS! It all got worse since EA stepped in and took control!
Now they are back again, And I don't believe it will get any better this time around!

I finished the first one and there were not any IAP at all (on PC a long time ago), and didn't know they added them later, and this F2P move looks bad. For me its the IAP thing ruining everything lately, damn forever that day someone invented them, do we know who did invented them by the way? Which was the first game with it?

Support for IAPs was added in iOS 3.0, but it's not like Apple invented them. I'd say that Facebook games probably popularized micro-transactions (but there were probably flash games that used them before).

No IAPs on pc. Only on iOS (to purchase coins)
Heck, the pc version never got a HD or widescreen update...

Good at least the PC version is safe, what a relief... I can sleep now :)

And I agree about the Facebook making them popular, but on iOS? Somebody knows who was the first to use it?

Edit: Did a quick search and found nothing :\

Wait EA is behind this?! Oh great we are doomed! Anyone know Sims freeplay ugh EA is a too money hungry with there games. Plus EA like to control alot of things so I am guessing PVZ 2 will likely only be a online game. Nope screw that I like my Premium 7$ PVZ HD with all its additional content and offline ability's. I don't like EA's mobile games not anymore they abandoned quiet a few good games that they could of ported to iPad and even added new stuff. Too greedy to controlling in my opinion they don't even care about there fans having issues with the Sims freeplay game so you think they will care about any issues with this new game. I have watched them they pick and choose what they want to answer, then when they do its pretty automated in reply. They barely respond to the many people on facebook with Sims freeplay issues. God imagine the problems that will come up with this new game. EA should not of got a hold of this they were good once not anymore, they can't do mobile games.

I'm sure that at the launch of iOS 3, there were plenty of apps that used IAPs, but the first one shown off IIRC was Eliminate by ngmoco.

I seriously doubt that. I don't think a "castle defense" type of game would be made online only. People would go crazy if that was the case. :)
