Which plants do you guys feel are the most sun-cost efficient? Mostly, I just pick the cheapest plants for levels where you have to be a miser about sun spending.
I've completed all the stages, and have done quite a few extra stars in each stage at various intervals. Perhaps there are some that are longer, but definitely not on a par with the original.
It had a soft launch for quite a while, so I think it fizzled out by the time there was a grand launch... And even then, it only peaked it a little bit. I reckon it is also due to the game being slightly boring, and relatively quick to complete.
The game came out well over a month ago (and is free, so people were easily able to make alternate store accounts to grab it then rather than wait), and this thread has 79 pages in which pretty much everything about the game that can be discussed already has been. You'll see life return when the next content update hits.
I love how people feel the need to substitute their personal biases for data. While it is indeed relatively quick to complete for people who approach it earnestly, it will still take you a solid 4-5 days of playing to beat everything, putting it way ahead of most app store games, and it's still #1 on the free charts and in the top 25 for grossing, also, with about 90,000 unique ratings on the app store, less than 10% rate it 1 or 2 stars, with 2/3rds rating it a solid 5 stars. Just because the TA community isn't finding much else to talk about 2 weeks after it hard launched (and well over a month since it soft launched), don't mistake that silence for indication of what the other 99.999% of the app store customers are up to or think about the game.
Good points. Also: my question was a serious one. Bonk Choy seems efficient, Bloomering does not (unless it's constantly hitting 2-3 enemies). Coconut Cannon seems quite efficient, assuming you use it well. Other thoughts?
I haven't played in a week so I forgot some of the names but my favorites (and seemingly cost efficient) are: *Bok Choy / the Flame plant: They're both what I use to put behind my barriers. The flame one I've been using more just because it can hit multiple lanes. This is better for me early game when you need to save the money up. *Nuts: Both nuts are good. I prefer the Tallnut but it takes a while to pull out since it's more costly at the beginning and they both recharge slow. You must have at least one of these in every set up. Unless you're magically awesome and can survive without nuts. Okay that came out weird... *Potato Mines/Freeze Plant: Freeze plant is free so that's obvious but the mines are great to defend your plants early and late game. The only downside is the charging time but it's an instant kill anywhere for a cheap price. I try to always have this in my set up. *Butter Plants: I use them instead of the pea shooters because of the added effect however they need protection because they can't kill as quick. They're more support plants than killers. *Coconut Cannon: Probably my favorite new plant. It replaces that mega corn blaster from the old game but is like a mini version. The only disadvantage is it aims in one lane but otherwise it'll be consistently the most powerful thing on the field if you can plant it. *Peapod: I'm iffy on this one, It's good for saving space and can become quite powerful. However you're limited to one lane obviously so I only throw this in if I have extra space. It's slightly pricey but at maxed out peas it's really powerful.
Why is it that PvZ2 has to download an update within the app even after applying the appstore update? I thought this was explicitly forbidden under Apple's appstore policies...
AFAIK the App Store doesn't allow delta updates IE where only the data that was updated needs to be downloaded. The IPA file structure that apps on the App Store use is a modified zip archive IIRC. You change one file in it and the App store requires you to download the entire IPA file instead of what's changed (which could only be a few KB or so) Maybe PopCap have a way of updating only what's changed ?
The app store itself has recently implemented delta updates through the app store itself. Not sure what devs have to do to make it happen, but it is possible to do through the app store nowadays. This isn't particularly relevant here, but since you claimed it's not allowed, figured I'd let you know. 2. That said, as long as no executable code is changed, you can have your app download updates out the yinyang, not really sure why anyone would think otherwise as apps have been doing internally downloaded updates forever. Just think of all the many freemium games that only deliver a 40MB package through the app store and then make you wait while the game downloads another 120MB once you run it (this has also gotten some developers in trouble when they use this feature to download content that clearly would not be allowed under Apple's guidelines).
Thanks for the information I think you may of mis-understood what I was trying to say. What I meant was as far as I knew it wasn't possible. I wasn't claiming it wasn't allowed just attempted to bring a little insight into why the extra update. 53 MB isn't overly large but when you have people with this app installed on their mobile phones it can chew into their cellular data usage when all that's changed is a few KB or so. Do you have any suggestions on what I can search on in Apple's Developer Site to figure out how this delta update thing would work for a developer ? Personally I'ld like them to track down a source explicitly stating it wasn't allowed to do in game file updates. With maybe a certain Apple Policy named and linked as well. It's possible they were confusing something that was in place to prevent developers from using such mechanisms to download content Apple doesn't allow to mean developers were not allowed to download update content into their app full stop.
You are totally right, I was mistaken. It is only executable code that is not permitted by Apple to be downloaded internally. That said, I have not yet had many apps that have updated their resources from within, maybe that was why I thought PvZ2's behaviour so strange.
Can someone please tell me how to beat "Canon! Fire! II"? I tried it several times but i never get 40.000 points. It seems you need to do perfect shots for the whole time to beat it but its impossible. Any good strategy?
Did anyone beat the 3rd (final) "save our springbeans" level in pirate world without using cannons? I've tried that level countless times and it seems without cannons it's impossible to protect the two beans placed at the edge... It can kill the swinging zombie but 1-2 seagulls always accompany the swinging zombie, and the bean won't duck to avoid the seagull because it fell asleep after throwing the swinging zombie overboard. Boomerangs can't kill the seagulls fast enough. I already beat this level btw... Just wondering how to beat it without cannons if it's even possible. And without spamming plant food/power ups obviously.
Deus Ex actually performs an update every single time you start the app, which is how they hotfixed the showstopper conversation bug a while back. This as a solution is more desirable than having to wait for a (potentially sizable) app store update for easily-fixed things. Patience. With the cannon levels, the trick is to show restraint and not fire immediately, as you want to bunch up as many of the zombies as possible for the highest possible combo. Most of the longer chains will overlap at some point in their movement if you leave them alone, and that's when you should hit them.
Thank you for the thoughts. I do sometimes leave out the nuts (ahem), but usually include chili bean, potato bomb or iceberg lettuce to compensate. Double Bok Choy backed up by lots of pea-shooters of various types and with spike plants in front can work pretty well for some levels.
I have 12/38 stars in the Wild West and zero keys. I was rolling in keys in the other two time-periods. At this rate, I'll have 3 keys upon completion of the level and then have to grind or pay. Are keys rarer on the Wild West or am I just unlucky? I'm curious if it is just me. Maybe my random key generator broke.
