Much more depth than on Hearthstone due to five lanes, and two of them being different. The game is also asymmetric which turns it really fresh. With SolForge withering down due to lack of development, this has real potential to be the best DCG out there. Do NOT miss!
I opened a 2000 gem pack and got- 10 super rares, 2 legendaries and 2 heroes. re: matchmaking- on Sunday I played many multiplayer matches, mostly gave up whenever I tried to match using a plant deck because after waiting for 2 minutes, when I did have an opponent he was usually 10+ ranks higher than me. If I played as a zombie I'd match almost instantly and my opponent would usually be lower rank than me. [I played from ~rank 4 to rank 13]
Damn you guys are so lucky. Since the game soft launched I had to open dozens of 1k packs and only got 2 legendaries over the course of those many many months. Oh well.
It is worth noting that if you lose a bunch in a row you get a free premium pack, and that conceding seems to count because I conceded immediately before getting mine. My "pity pack" gave me a legendary. By the way L. Lawliet, did you spend money or is there some way to continue to earn meaningful gems even after you get promoted to the high leagues?
Made a quick video showing how to get a free premium card pack by conceding a few matches. Not sure if it has been mentioned before, but you can also complete quests by just conceding...
I like this game a lot and wouldn't mind spending some money on packs but I'm worried about replayability. I prefer single player but if once the campaign is done there's nothing left to do besides redoing boss battles. Do you think they will continue to add content?
I noticed you can 'recycle' nicer cards when you earn them. Can someone please explain the recycle mechanic? Thank you.
You can recycle cards and use the special thunder currency to buy other cards, either dupes or ones you don't have. Be warned, they can get REALLY expensive. 4000 for a legendary. Obviously you'd have to whale for those if you really wanted them as you'd have to trash a significant amount of super rare cards to even get close to that amount. I didn't get a premium pack ever. I think that was a new feature. When I started the game you got enough gems to get a premium after the first set of battles but that was it. Gems are mainly gotten from those timed quests and hero quests. And then the ranked matches which I don't really play at all. Your gem income can be somewhat steady actually since you always get new quests for gems.
As a huge Hearthstone fan, I think that this game is a good alternative, with unique and interesting match mechanics that make it its own. Whilst the actual card game itself is well polished, it clearly shows early days when looking at the meta games and overall menu polish. Also, the online multiplayer is unbalanced and it seems unfinished (for example why don't you lose stars when losing/conceding?). Surely for better ranking you should lose ranking like all other multiplayers (Clash Royale and Hearthstone come to mind). The current way rewards persistence, not skill. It might sound like I'm moaning a little but overall I actually like the game and see huge potential. Popcap historically update their games regularly so I expect refinement in coming months. Quick question that's bugging me. When a plant or zombie is on the playing arena, some have a star underneath them. I know some zombies get stars on the left of them for frenzy. What about the star immediately underneath them. It seems random and unrelated to anything! Can anyone shed any light? Thanks!
I'm surprised how little traffic this forum has considering how popular this game appears to be based on # of reviews. I'm liking it a lot, almost ready to spend some money on packs but still unsure how long I'll stay interested given none of the campaigns are replayable, only the final boss. I was hoping for more traffic here to see people's thoughts who are further ahead.
Apparently, there are 40 zombie and plan zones. That is a TON - around zone 10, some of the missions (not just the boss missions) become fairly hard. The real issue with the missions is that you kind of stop needing common card packs eventually, and the missions don't give you anything else afaik. So there is effectively no reward after a while. Another issue is that the pace of earning gems really slows down after you finish the hero quests and get through the easy ranks of multiplayer. They said they will reset the ranks when they release new cards, but it isn't clear if they will do so before that, or how long it will be before they release new cards.
I think we should all message them and tell them how much we want a replayable campaign. I'm sure if enough of us ask for it they'll consider it. Campaign doesn't really give out rewards except the common pack currency so I'm sure they wouldn't mind making it repeatable.
Great idea. I emailed EA and posted the following in the official forums. Maybe if enough people show their support and add their input they'll pay attention. http://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Feature-Request/td-p/5656292
Battery drain? I'm getting huge battery drain on an iPhone 7. I had a 19 round match that went 15-20 minutes and the battery dropped from 100 to 85%. Anyone else having a similar issue?
Nice one! Looks like I'll need to make an EA account to vote up your post. Hopefully I'll get some time to do that later.
I'm playing this at least as much as Hearthstone. I think that's mostly because of the newness and novelty of PvZ Heroes. I still think Hearthstone is a better game. I paid $.99 for 450 gems. It was a special offer. With that I was able to get 11 premium packs. Now I have a ton of cards. It would be nice if they reset the ranks every month, but it seems like they don't do that. Also it's annoying when I'm rank 5 and I get matched with someone who's rank 9. Maybe there just aren't enough people playing to do proper match making. I certainly don't have that problem on Hearthstone.
Grrr. I saw that offer pop-up once and just cleared it, not realizing that the silly pop-up, which never came up again, was the ONLY way to have gotten that deal.
It's okay, I never got that offer ever Probably because my super original account started so early that they won't give me new user offers. And I THINK Android users get a sneak preview pack (costs $$) of a new unit since I only hear Android players talk about. We all miss out on something lol.. I think I prefer this over Hearthstone but that's just my preference. I also prefer this one with more animations to make the battles look like a lot of fun. Not that HS is bad but I just love watching my plants and zombies hit each other. Also, I can't play Hearthstone offline which I can do with PvZ. I can just whip out my phone and not worry about data or my shoddy Internet connections. Ughh... I've been trying to sign in for a 30 minutes now and I can't reach the sign in page. I click the button and no page loads. Not to mention that site loads really slow. Not sure what's wrong. I turned off ad blocks, switched browsers, nothing. I really want to upvote and reply to the team member that responded to you. Glad that it shows they at least read it!
Yes, Android users, and specifically Samsung users got a bonus. I play on iOS but wanted to play on my PC when I'm at the desk so I installed an Android emulator, HvZ Heroes and linked it to my account. It successfully sync'd so all my cards and gem purchases are visible in both Android and iOS. On Android I got a free 'Samsung pack' that included a bunch of rare cards. I guess Samsung and EA had a promotional deal. I agree on this being more fun than Hearthstone for me. The animations are excellent and amusing, colors are great, all the different heroes and cards add a lot of variety to gameplay. Having actual characters do battles instead of cards makes it more interesting and placement in the lanes adds some strategy. This is on track to being one of my favorite iOS games. As for your slow loading issue last night, I think EA was having server issues. My iPad would load, for about 30 minutes my iPhone wouldn't load at all. A friend launched the game and their entire progress was missing, game acted like they were playing for the first time, luckily they didn't have any paid for content or that would have been extremely frustrating. EA account login on the website was offline too. A side question, my friend never got a "Create" or "Login" option in their game so they have no way to link it to an EA account. When I go to settings I have a "My Account" option. They don't have that, nor do they have a prompt at launch to log in. We tried deleting and reinstalling the game, still no option for them. Identical iOS devices to mine. Any ideas? Thanks!
