I could ramble - I'm tempted - but the just revealed planescape.com speaks louder. Spoiler Chris Avellone is in the house. iPhone support is not, but I can't see why it wouldn't eventually be. US$9.99, with no ETA. Barely any BG:EE-style additions, kits and NPCs and whathaveyou, just a pure modernization and polish of the black sheep of the golden age of RPGs (one of the few lost eras which almost actually live up to the sentimental moniker). And, hey, without any multiplayer, Beamdog's work will seem twice as competent this time around I hold this up to the people as one of the best validations of Chair's theorem.
This is easily my favorite title out of the baldur's gate engine titles. Love the theme and the story.
One more reason to buy a 12.9" iPad PRO... PC, Mac and Linux version will be out on 11 Apr. No mention of mobile release date and it will cost US$9.99 <- but this is a no brainer to me.
Planescape Torment: Extended Edition It's coming out on April 11th for several platforms including iOS and Android. I'm dying!! Www.planescape.com !!!please delete!!! -- double post
I asked about the iOS release on April 11th and the dev said "that's the plan" ... so I think that means unless Apple has a problem we will get on release day.
This is good news, but all the web publications and the offical website has no mention so I take the safe route leaving it blank.
Makes sense. Beamdog has been burned enough times by Apple's review process to promise a specific date.
On the other hand, the developer can decide the release date and asks Apple to release on the day specified. I think this time Beamdog has learned the leason, work with Apple and sets the date, as more media say it will be Apr 11th Edit: check it requires only iOS 8 or newer, I think my old iPad 3 can handle this...
Sorry but this is no remake, more like a remaster. It is the same old PT we know and love but added in some modern elements, higher resolution, bug fixes, etc. Rock Paper Shotgun has a good article to brush up your expectation: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/03/29/planescape-torment-enhanced-edition-review/
I wouldn't get too excited about the iOS version. I'm pretty sure the Baldurs Gate & Icewind were never even updated to run correctly on the 12.9" iPad Pro. They keep the PC, Linux, & Mac versions fairly up to date though.
I hate that I have never gotten into these games despite loving RPGs and Pillars of eternity on PC. I tried baldurs gate but just couldn't get it to stick.
I want a 12.9" slate cuase I find BGEE is too small on my Mini for old soaring eyes.... I am trying the old iPad 3 first to see if it works.
interesting. Back when I had a 12.9", they looked all distorted when I tried to play. Maybe it was just mine that was affected for some reason. Glad they work well for others.
That is very strange. Both BGs and IWD were among the first games I loaded on, and tested, when I got mine 9 months ago.
Everybody ignored my message left on the Baldur's gate 1 thread: https://mobile.twitter.com/TrentOster/status/844283830412423170?p=v
