Yep, same for me. The zoom has become very 'erratic' and jumpy - almost too twitchy and zooms in too quickly. I'm convinced the maximum zoom has been reduced too - I remember thinking how much smoother all the assets seemed when zoomed out, now (at maximum zoom) they appear more jagged, as if they're scaled up. @LordGek - I think the other comment about intro being skippable is correct but only if you have a save game. I tried playing a couple of times and each time I didn't get to complete the tutorial, so had to sit through the intro each time. I'm fairly sure that once I'd started my own game and saved it, I could skip past it after that.
I didn't have many problems with the last version 1.2.5 already. The occasional crash on large games with lots of units aside, it played pretty smooth even before the update. The current version 1.3.1f fixed a lot of issues, you can find the whole changelog here: http://planarconquest.com/planar_conquest_131f_changelog.txt Played 6+ hours already after updating yesterday, and didn't notice any problems so far. I had one crash in a large long game, but that's way less than before the update. Note that some folks reported issues with the zoom, though. I can't reproduce them, so it might be related to device and/or iOS version.
All the spells that were not working / miscalculating were fixed AFAIK, about the large game crash i never experienced it so i have no idea... Only little issue im having is zooming out on my 6s+, its nothing that really impacts gameplay, it just looks like it zooms out a bit less than before.
When you say a crash on a long game, its only a crash during gameplay right ? Like you rebooted the game and you could load ? Just hoping the bug others have reported in the past of games becoming corrupt doesnt occur.
Yep, just a regular crash during gameplay: close game, restart game, load saved game, all good again. I didn't have corrupted savegames in a long while, I think since the 1.2.4 update.
To help clarify - I'm playing on iPad Air with iOS 8.3 and iPhone 6S with 9.0.2. No crashes - if anything, swapping and changing in/out and between menus seems more 'solid' than it did before. The update has also solved the bug I had where every menu I went in to automatically opened the '?' help screen - had to manually close it each time to get to the menu screen behind it. All in all, I'm happy - just a bit frustrated the zoom has changed. When you've played for a while and uncovered the wider world, it doesn't give you quite the sense of scale any more and becomes a little frustrating having to move the camera more to where you want it. Granted, you can press the 'next unit' button or use the town screen to fast zoom but when trying to scout out the area to mark your next 'go to' location for a unit, I'm now having to swipe more to get there. Niggles not game breaking though thankfully! @doomtrader - were the zoom changes intentional or are they a side effect of some other changes?
@ZS77: I wonder if the zoom changes are caused by your old iOS, or more specifically an adjustment for iOS 10 that 8/9.x doesn't like. @doomtrader: did you good folks do anything in that area to handle iOS10?
I think we have done something with zoom range for PC version and I think this might affect the mobile. I need to play both old and new version and compare it.
If that is the case, any chance we can go back to the old one for iOS please? Maybe I'm finding it more noticeable due to the smaller screen real estate or the closer viewing distance of playing on a tablet but it's actually becoming more off putting the more I play - I much preferred the 'omnipotent God-like' vantage point we had before, made it feel more strategic and gave a greater sense of overview - zoomed in just strikes me as being a bit 'console-y'. Edit: on the plus side, at least I know I'm not going mad! #
To add to this statement im using iOS 9.0.2, so it definitely is a possibility. Also possible that it does this on iPhone but not on iPad. Edit : Once again, its not gamebreaking or anything, if anything its a slight annoyance, nothing that will make me play less.
Not a newbie I played every 4X game I could find starting with Imperium Galactic from SSI on my Apple IIE about '84 or '85. I switch to a Pentium and then continued getting every 4X game for PC. I stop playing on a desktop when I got my iPhone but have continued playing as many as I could find on my Ascendancy, Civ Rev #, Starbase Orion etc. Master of Magic was/is a favourite of mine. I hoping this game will continue to improve. Anybody going to port Imperium Galactic to iOS?
I remember that was one of the things that bugged me. I think there was something else, but it's been so long that I forget. I'll probably start a game in the next few days, but I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if issues start popping up.
I stand in awe, mylady *bows with a flourish* Nice to see another veteran. I actually had to look up Imperium Galactum, never heard of it before. My first SSI game was Pool of Radiance. In 84/85 I played Bard's Tale on my C64 (funny thing that, by the way. It's the first game I clearly remember playing on the old breadbox). I'm not even sure if SSI games already made it to Germany at that time. Did you start playing with Arcades, too? My first experience was playing Pong, Asteroids, and such when I was but a wee lad of 5 or 6 in 79/80. Got hooked right away. Clearly shows that games have a bad influence on the young And same here, when I got my first iPod, I mothballed everything else and iOS has been my only gaming platform ever since.
Two different games That was my first thought too. IG2 is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperium_Galactica_II:_Alliances Imperium Galactum is a lot older: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperium_Galactum (doesn't have an English entry) Anyways, IG2 on iOS is fun, definitely recommeneded (if it still works on iOS10).
As the game is on sale what are the IAPs? One is called complete for $9.99 but bkt sure if it s truly complete as the landscape of caledrab and is $8.99. Please advise as I'm trying to decide if It is time to buy...?
@imdakine1: You should definitely get at least the base game while it's on sale (unless you want to send a few more bucks to Wastelands, then wait till sale's over ). Absolute steal for 4 Euros. The "Complete Pack" does what it says on the tin: It has all the currently available IAPs in one neat package. And yes, buying them all separately is about 3 times as expensive. Absolutely worth it in my book to get the Complete Pack.
Just throwing out there really quick that I have a hunch the AI improved somewhat. While it still does some dumb stuff, like having single units circle around a heavily-defended town of mine, I actually lost a town for the first time ever: That's in my Drac Summoner game. I had what before the update was a good enough garrison, especially when backed up by heavy combat summons like the Earth Elemental. But one AI Lord brought just the right mix of units to soundly overwhelm my defenders: several Glaiveguards to keep my melee fighters occupied while his Archers and Druids shot them apart. I found it notable that it wasn't just a deathstack of e.g. all Doomdrakes, but a good mix that caused real problems. On the plus side, the same stack attacked another town a few turns later, and got a real trashing this time, no enemy survivors Upping my defenses everywhere now, and consolidating my economy before I expand further. And a bunch of Weavers is on the march to take that town back.
