I hope things are still moving along at Wastelands Interactive. Even on their official message boards the dev team has gone silent. Hopefully iOS users get the added fixes from the PC version, but if not it's still playable and a great 4x game for mobile devices. It is just a bit strange since the developers were very hands-on with the community.
On Facebook they told me that they were still working on the patch, that it was taking a while and that they had no ETA to give. Sounds to me like they just dont give a ****, they do it at snails pace and in a few months its just gonna land there... And lets not forget that they dont even answer people on their own forums anymore, that shows how much they care.
I would like to think most development teams care about their products. If they didn't care they wouldn't have engaged the community to begin with and doomtrader did a good job communicating with us on these forums before communications went dark. If I had to take a guess it's probably a financial issue or some issue with the iOS update. At least we have a working game unlike the Bioshock fans who genuinely got the short end of the stick from 2K.
I know most people won't care, but from their perspective, as a very small team they have on their plate: iOS release & comms Android release & comms Steam release & comms PS4 release & comms Pending XBox release Multiplayer implementation ongoing That is a metric shit-ton of work. Yes they could be more consistent with comms, and yes they have publishers helping them. It's still an amazing amount of work to take on. I'd rather they carried on at whatever pace without burning out.
I dont want to talk lightly about their load, I know they have a lot. But giving ETAs should be feasible at any time. Answering questions on THEIR OWN forums should work too, im not talking about an answer minutes/hours later, but they did not answer a single person in MONTHS. My biggest gripe at the moment, is that I have a game I paid a fairly high price for (40CAD isnt your common iOS game) which is as well the same price than the PC version and to add, mobile version came out first. Yet those who got the PC version LATER then us and paid the same price we paid are getting more bug fixes and more updates, and quicker, this makes no sense to me. Im opened to counterarguments, but for now I feel kind of ripped... Edit : Yes the game works, its definitely playable, but some spells dont work at all (fixed on PC though) and some numbers dont calculate properly, I dont mind the UI bugs that much, restarting a mobile game only takes minutes, but i want spells and units to work properly as intended.
uh-huh. Im seriously never trusting these guys ever again. They are indie devs and i feel im getting worse support thani would get with EA, this is absurd.
It's all very odd. You realize this was a PC game first by another name that had all sorts of game breaking bugs. The devs stopped responding to the customers and it appeared abandoned. The devs then re-released it on iOS with a new name and was actually really cleaned up and improved from the PC version. Now they've gone back to the PC, greatly improved from the iOS version, and we're left hanging.
Last time they did say mid-august before leaving us in the dark with no knowledge or anything. Sorry about the skepticsm but ill believe it when i see it.
Optimist says - price drop = imminent update. Cynic says - price drop = sweating the assets to maximise income before leaking away and focusing support on PC/Mac forever.
We are planning to release the patch before x-mas. It should update the version to 1.3.1e It would be for both iOS and Android.
