@dedyp: I assume you are on Android then?
And I have to correct myself: It's iOS v1.2.4 where autoscout isn't working.
Seems to be a general issue. I tried with a new game and a Magic Spirit and Sprite summoned in the first turns, without any map exploring done.

Autoscouting is the same mechanics for all units, btw. It's just that Magic Spirits are supremely suited for it :)

@Nullzone , ive been using autoscouting and its been working just fine, lets not forget that your unit will automatically move when you end your turn, not before.

Only complaint i have with autoscout is that it doesnt even try to avoid enemies...

Didnt give my feedback for the game yet because i only played for about 2.5 hours, did have to read the manual before playing, i should leave some feedback and rate the gamr tonight !

Weird... my test units didn't move on turn end. I'll try again in a bit and report back.
Which version are you playing on? And iOS or Android?

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but afair it does not run into enemies to attack them: if it can see them, autoscout tries to walk around if I remember right.

    I'm on iOS 9.02.

What i meant about not trying to avoid the enemy is that your scout will not change its course even if there is an enemy nearby, so they end up going right beside him/her, only to get wrecked on the enemys turn. IMO it should try to run away, but that's a very minor conplaint, its not like i cannot change the path or anything. Just have to be vigilant #

It didn't do much based on the Editor and the Reviewer's comments. They stand by their review, though they're "patching" the multiplayer portion of it. There might be a followup in a podcast.

Of course, the reviewer and Editor completely ignore that PQ is going to be given to the people who own WoM.

Mmhmm. I find it quite shocking that a website following 4X games (its not like theres THAT MANY) isnt even able to have the right information about one... one that they even interviewed the devs about...

Lickzy, I had the same problem (my search for an answer is about 50 pages back in this forum :p). 'Auto-turns' are completed at the end of the turn (ie. after you press the turn button), so if you manual move a spirit, then set it to autoscout, it won't do so until the following turn. Also, and probably more importantly, if you have any uncompleted task, the auto-scout will not work for that turn.

Be sure to check the turn button for an hourglass timer icon. If the system is indicating that you are not researching anything, or a town isn't doing anything, or any of your armies are idle, the auto-scout will not work. Once I figured that out, everything worked great. Not intuitive until you understand what is happening, and the manual doesn't list this as of yet in the auto-scout section. Let us know if this fixes it for you!

    Re: Autoscouting

@dedyp, Lickzy & Milotorou, re: Autoscouting:
I just tested again, and my Spirits definitely don't move after turnend with autoscouting on.
So we have Lickzy and me where it's not working, and dedyp and Milo where it works ok.

I am running PQ version 1.2.4, dedyp the same.
@all 3: Did you update from an earlier PQ version, or did you install fresh?
I think I reinstalled with v1.2.3, and updated to v1.2.4.

As I don't have any important saves to lose, I deleted/reinstalled and tried again.
And I think I figured out what's going wrong:
When you have any open tasks, e.g. no Research ongoing, or a town that doesn't build anything, Autoscout fails.
Once you took care of those open tasks, and end the turn, autoscouting works correctly again.

I think this is different from earlier versions, but not 100% sure. I'll update the thread on Wastelands' forum as well, here.

Especially for Lickzy, new steps to test/reproduce:
    1) Start a new game.
    2) Summon a Magic Spirit.
    3) Move the Spirit out of your town.
3a) OPTIONAL: Set any of your starting garrison units to autoscouting, to show that it affects other units as well.
    4) Select autoscouting for the Spirit.
    5) End turn.
    6) Note that the Spirit doesn't move, despite autoscouting showing up correctly as action for it.
    7) You should have 3 "open tasks": a) your town doesn't build anything b) you don't have any research ongoing c) town garrison is not set to "guard".
    8) Close the "open tasks", end turn after each. When you close the first two, autoscout still doesn't work. Only when you close them all, autoscout takes off.
    9) Remove your town from Housing, so it doesn't produce anything.
    10) End turn.
    11) Autoscouting fails again.
    12) Set town back to Housing, end turn: autoscout works.

If you want to add anything there, be my guest :)

UPDATE: Mintdragon beat me to it by a few seconds, see previous page :p

Wow, there is some passionate discourse going on there in the comment thread. Which is good, I suppose. I really try to keep out of them tho.

Eli, I don't think you need to defend your position on reviewing PQ. From a completely neutral 3rd party lover of the game, I am really thankful for the update mentions, the frequent 'Hot Games' listings, the mentioning of the active user base in this forum, etc... 4X lovers will come across one of these and investigate further (like I did). So, thank you again.

@nullzone, i always updated the game since version 1.0, never installed fresh...and yes, magic spirit will stop auto scouting if you end turn with any task still not yet done.

Edit: btw I just realized this also lol

Update: it only happen with end turn notification ON in option

Wow, could be a bunch of things. Can you provide more specific detail? Race/plane/OS, etc... You should be able to build anywhere that your 'magnifying glass' gives you a listing of resources, etc on a certain square. To build, your settler needs to go there (I think you need one movement point available), then select the settler icon from the upper left, which should illuminate the mini-icon for settling your new city. Press it and *bingo*.

I did run into an INN on a new plane where I purchased a foreign settler, but couldn't get him to settle a city on the new plane. I just dumped him during that game (didn't want to tinker and figure out why). My GUESS is that I had to settle on the plane first with one of my settlers before using the purchased one. As I'm playing, I'm finding out lots of little 'quirks', such as spell costs in battle being much higher if I don't have a city on a particular plane (which is why I assumed my 'foreign' settler didn't work). So much to figure out on this game :)

So post some more details, or if you figure it out, be sure to let us know how you solved it. We are all kind of learning this together.

i think i couldnt because of nodes being where within the borders i wouldve created ?

now i found another city just passed the point...

since i cannot build at 5 squares from a city, i guess its 5 diagonal right ?

Wasn't it 3 tiles before? If you use the magnifying glass tool, it will give you stats on the area but will also show a warning if it is to close.
