Multiplayer Options? Hi all, new to the forum. I've conducted a thread search and am having trouble finding a definitive answer to my question. Can someone please confirm that Planar Conquest does NOT have a local/hot seat multiplayer option at this time? If not, does it have ANY multiplayer option? I'm looking for the ability to play cooperatively against AI opponents. Co-op play against online opponents might be something we'd be interested in, too. Thanks!
little question here... how does it compare to Civilisation 4 or 5 ? those are the only 4x games ive played a lot, before dropping 18CAD on a game just to try (having to spend another 28CAD for the complete unlock later) id like to know if i will like this game... thanks for the help
Nothing like it at the moment, but there is a hope that multiplayer functionality might come after the game has launched on Steam. (And agreed, 4X co-op against AI is one of my favourite ways to have fun online. My friends and I have probably played Civ IV/V and Endless Legend like that more than almost any other kind of online gaming. So if PQ DOES get online multiplayer, here's to the hope there'll be a way to face off against a mix of AIs and players online, and perhaps even a friendly little "Allied Victory" setting...)
To be honest I am too lazy to wait for a sale, please put a $3 off sale on the complete pack so that I only end up wasting $30 xD
it's quite similar in its mechanics to Civ4 (especially city management), but it contains an additional tactical layer (combat between armies, which was done automatically in Civ)
so lets say... the management part of civ IV with the combat of heroes of might and magic ? definitely sounds like its up my alley !
Okay...finally gave in and decided to give the 4x genre a try and bought this baby. Anyone have tips for a noob? (If you don't want to repeat yourselves and would rather point to a post number on this helpful thread, that'd be cool, too).
Thanks... two last questions and after answers ill most likely take the dive : Is the hero (your sorcerer in this game i guess) only standing in the back throwing spells (think HoMM 3) or is he fighting in battle (like in HoMM4) or its more of an in between (like HoMM5) ? and finally, hows the AI ?
I guess closest to HoMM3, but maybe not even quite like that. Your sorcerer never leaves his tower nor is he ever directly involved in any battles. Sure he can cast spells to aid your troops in battle but he never enters the field himself as a unit. I'm fairly certain he lives and dies with your capital city. Can't comment on the AI, and am actually curious about that myself.
Your Sorcerer indeed does not show up in battle. But you have Hero units (and quite a few) like in HoMM, which take part in the fights. I guess the high-tier summons like Archangels and giant Sea Serpents could count here as well: usually you only have a handful of those bolstering your cannon fodder. The AI is okay for me. Not outstanding, but also not over-the-top sadistic. While I won all of my games on hardest difficulty without much trouble, other people report that they have a hard time against medium or lower AI. So, your mileage may vary @Coledaddy: just follow the link in my signature to the guide thread. That should get you going. If you have questions, ask away. For an easy start, go with Grey Elves. They have the best ranged unit in the game, makes things a lot easier - especially early on. I plan to finish combing this thread next week, and put up a link collection to all the interesting stuff spread over it.
He does live there but that can change. If you're capital city is overrun, he is "banished." You can cast a spell to move his tower to a different city.
Is there a way to "stack " units? For instance, as opposed to have 16 tiles of 1 archer, is it possible to have 1 tile of 16 archers? If so, how?
For the armies in towns (garrisons) and the overland map: Yes. Just move an army on top of another and they merge. You can also split off and merge individual units, via the army dropdown menu. In combat: No. Each unit/tile represents a multi-figure squad, or single figure unit for the big ones like Dragons.
After thinking about it overnight (unfortunately i dont hve the funds to buy every games i feel like trying on a whim) i decided to buy the base game instead of Chaos Rings 3 that i was about to buy earlier. Im a huge rpg fan by nature, i got a ton of them, planar conquest looks like a great change from rpgs, and i do miss civ V and HoMM5 that i used to play a lot on PC. (PC that i unfortunately do not have much time to use anymore) This game looks like amazing value and as many have pointed out, @nullzone enthusiasm is contagious. ill be playing mainly on my iphone 6s plus, ill leave feedback later ! thanks for answering my questions earlier !
This got me too, but for multi-weapon fighters. There are little arrows somewhere around the place you see the ring icon. I will try to upload a screenshot later.
