Or at least include the game animation speed on the settings/options from within game? I like @nullzones idea of slowing down for overland, especially until the map is uncovered. But it would be a bit of work to save/exit, change speed, reload, enter battle (at 4x) for a 16v16 fight. All the other options are there, was thinking about just this the other night as to why the animation speed slider isn't 'in game'
Ah, if you look closely at each of the game images (except the first), you can see game play integrated with the great artwork, but I agree, having a screen shot of the city management screen and either playing field or battle field would convey the idea of 'Fantasy 4X' a lot better. Also, please consider removing all the IAP (except for the Starter DLC Pack)? My first reaction was a micro-transaction pay-to-play game, which I always shun and do not consider to purchase. Once I made my initial purchase, I couldn't figure out what all of the DLC options were, and only became clear after finding this forum. Even after knowing what they are now, I went back into the game to double check, and it's still confusing to understand what the offers are. Nowhere is it clearly stated that the 'Starter Pack' consists of all the other DLC options. Starter Pack is a term often used in free-to-play games where you get a certain amount of hard and soft currency, and try to hook players into spending more money. Maybe a better name? I'm sure you are trying to leave wiggle room for future DLC content, so maybe something like "Master Pack DLC" would work? Just some thoughts, please don't interpret my comments as negative against the game or you guys, but hope you consider them to make the offering clearer and less open to mis-interpretation by prospective players. (Oh, and yes, looking forward to future expansions/DLC!!)
small item (not even worthy of being called a bug) From within the game, it you select the 'mirror' to see your Sorcerer setup, the positive traits are listed. when arrowing to the negative traits, the vertical text on the left hand side still refers to them as positive.
I'm 254 turns into a game and I'm encountering a problem. I end my turn and then Neutral players move on the map. After they move, it goes to an indefinite waiting for other players to make their move. I was able to stop it once by killing the neural monster before it moved but it keeps happening. Anyone else encounter this?
@khann: Several people reported the same issue, that PC gets stuck "waiting for other players" on the overland map now and then. When it happened to me, I could always resolve it by closing and restarting the game. If you have a save that you cannot recover like this, best send it to Wastelands: Make sure you have an internect connection, then save a game with the name "sendSaves" (without the quotation marks); all your saves are belong to us, i.e. they get sent to our good devs. The "sendSaves" game will not show up as actual savegame in your list afterwards, and aside from a short delay you currently don't get any feedback that the send was successful.
Yep, the savename "sendSaves" triggers the sending mechanism. About the restore button, no idea. Loading saves from iCloud maybe? @Wastelands: that one is not in the manual, could you let us know what it does and add it?
I just uploaded new manual 1.4 - updated selecting armies - fixed ranger armor selection - added surveyor - added useful information to appendix
Save was sent. Guess it is time to start a new game. Edit: because every time you start a new game it will always be different. That is what I love about 4X games.
Waiting for other players Bug The bug that causes the game to hang up on the words "waiting for other players" when you hit the end of turn button is now worse. Prior to this time I could always get around it by closing the game, restarting and loading the last save game. Now, however, the reloaded game always hangs the next time I press the end of turn button. This means that the game has to be abandoned and a new game started. I am playing on a iPad Air 2. Set up is 3 planes and only two AI players. I sent in the save game using the sendSaves method. It would be really helpful if this bug would be fixed.
Confirmed and fixing actively right now. You should find the fix in 1.2.2 which we are planning to send to apple after the weekend.
No TA review? What? Love the recommendations from friends but I'm waiting on either that, a demo version, or a price cut to buy.
Screw the review Seriously, if the impressions, activity and general enthusiasm in this thread do not convince you, I don't think a TA review will help much with that. Pricecut? I seriously hope that the only sales Wastelands does are to celebrate one million sold or something like that. We need more premium games like this on iOS. Go for the base version, it alone should keep you busy for a few weeks. You can always do a full unlock if you like it enough.
Great! Love how you guys are in bug squashing mode, looking forward to the various fixes in 1.2.2. Also, great update for the manual, appreciate the additional insight and explanations for the game mechanics. Please keep adding to it!
Thanks a lot for the new manual! Especially for adding the landtype explanations. And folks, we are in there too Fingers crossed for the 1.2.2 version, that all goes well.
[SUGGESTION] No Champions before Turn X I'd like to suggest an optional rule: You cannot get Champions before a certain number of turns has passed. My first idea would be either turn 50 or 75. Reason: I am playing a casual Grey Elf game, and got extremely lucky with finding Amu-Ha Shekala in an Inn directly near my Capital. 500 Gold (and 10 upkeep) were really steep that early in the game (turn 10-15), but definitely worth it; much more than the resource value alone shows. He can cast Flay, one of the most powerful single-target spells (12d6 damage). Add a few cheap +20Mana items (easily crafted) and you have one magical nuke boosting your army. Other Champions are on similiar powerlevels, and can completely change - if not outright break - a game when you get them early on. And I have a Titan Altar right in my frontyard, too While it doesn't matter for singleplayer - quite the contrary, for me it adds fun - , for multiplayer this can unbalance a game in the extreme. What do you think? Opinions, please. Have my spot on the soapbox
Pocket tactics reviewed it. You can go to their site to read it but it was a mixed review. They said any fans of 4X games should like it.
Yes, this is the review that got me to take a look at PQ. <- the new coolness way to say Planar Conquest, I'm told It was a very oddly written review, I'm still not sure if the reviewer hated it or liked it, but the readers' comments kinda blasted the writer of the article for his approach. Boiling it all down, the writer said that it "wasn't Age of Wonders III" (which isn't available on mobile). Thanks. Fortunately, people like me found the forum here, and were able to find out more about the game. I'm hopeful that TA, Pocket Tactics, others can give it an honest review in it's current form.
