Who needs DEET "avoid insect bites"

Could somebody explain how you get that "who needs DEET" achievement. What transmissions/symptoms/abilities do I have to buy?

    Thanks

Well first get zombies. Then you have to wait for a message about insects feeding on zombies to pop up. Then evolve zoonotic shift and the insect transmission. VoilĂ

Ahaha, I got that achievement the wrong way around, was adding Insects for every game and nothing was happening. It actually happens when you DON'T have Insects evolved. XD You also have to have zombies. Just play a few games, don't add Insects, sooner or later you'll get a pop-up saying insects are eating your zombies, so they are decaying faster. After you get that pop-up, evolve Insects and the insects will stop eating your zombies and you get the achievement.

    EDIT: Ahahaha, dangit, ninja'd!

A few suggestions for future updates:

    1) Randomize option: starting country, disease type, genes randomly selected

    2) Option to get to a country's information screen from the Infection Spread Summary (by tapping the country name).
This would be helpful because I don't know every country is located and if I need to tailor my disease to that climate, but don't where on the world map to press to get the necessary info

    3) With Necroa and Neurax: make it easier to select which country for a special ability. Selecting islands is frustrating because, at least for me, it always seems to select ocean and just display world data rather than using an ability on an island

    4. Maybe some type of visual effect on the world map for dead population. Countries already become red as they're infected; maybe black or grey could be dead and we can have visual satisfaction of seeing the world die

    5) Not sure if there are types of world events:

    - Internment camps (think Japanese in US during WW2) - countries would imprison citizens from the ethnicity of your starting country. Could be the less difficult Causal or Normal version of Brutal's total infected quarantine

-World War ignitated by using a starting country like Korea or Iraq, they're blamed, eventually leads to global conflict

    - Hurrianes (flooding, disease vector from Caribbean to America) /nor'easters (climate change) in USA

Well you can definitely tell the difference, doesn't look like getting all three animals to lvl 2 is worth it unless you can completely devolve the predecessors, and even then it didn't seem to result in much more in the way of countries breaking down.

So the question is under a 100% infected, 200 DNA stored scenario, what would be the absolute best combo of symptoms and transmissions (if any). If such a combo still doesn't work we are either missing something big, or the base oxidation approach is not viable no matter how much DNA you have.

Hey guys, I've been achievement hunting this morning and I've got all but Test This and of course NAZG. I've searched through this thread looking for instructions for Test This but I can't seem to do it right. There is more than one documented method for triggering it mentioned in the previous pages, but it doesn't seem to be working for me for some reason no matter which I try. Can anyone point me to the least aggravating method for this achievement?

When they try to research the animals, evolve the level II animal transmissions to make the animals violent :D

How did you get to 200 DNA. Max I hit was 150. Still trying to figure out best combination.

Patience and a bit of luck. I cleared all genes except Cyto for orange bubble bonus and Base Oxidation. Started in Sweden. Didn't evolve anything until Common Cold message at ~1.7B infected, then I bought abilities up through Gene ReShuffle 2 (do not buy Drug 2) to ensure no mutations until 3.5B and to ensure transmissions mutate. Got a couple symptoms, but devolved them and otherwise just kept popping orange bubbles. Even after getting everyone infected I kept letting it run, the mutations slow way down. Finally I hit 205 DNA on April 26, 2034 and Insomnia mutated, so I decided to go for it at that point.

The main drawback to the strategy is time, a ~20 year game takes awhile! Which makes it a bit depressing when you try something new and have to watch it fail spectacularly :)

Needless to say you could get a pretty awesome top score using this approach as well!

Lol I used this approach to get 150 but quit at 2021. Don't have that kind of patience. Plus if you need to wait that long it can't be the answer.

Even longer under brutal, the rate of infection in Sweden under brutal with no trans/ability mods - well lets just say it is not fast.

I started in Canada on brutal with no transmission/abilities once...

    2017: USA got infected...

    NAZG is hurting my brain!

I been trying to figure this achievement out
For a few weeks now, been some really good
    Discussion here,
Something I've noticed, when I try to get
100% infected via the no transitions/symptoms
Route, I seem to get a DNA boost just before or
After any symptom mutation, either orange bubbles,
Or an infection boost! Anyone else noticed this?
Still not close to winning tho, best I've done is
    Just over 3million dead:(

    Weird

I started a brutal game in Sweden with same 2 genes, took 8 years to get to 60 million infected, got air filters so added blood 1 required to allow air 1. Not exactly sure when (playing on and off for hours) but I had drug 1, cold 1, heat 1, GH and GRS 1 and 2 all before 3 billion.

The weird bit, I did not get a single forced mutation until 2032 a whole 2 years after total infection. Not one mutation along the way. In casual I would expect them to start at 3.5 billion and have them happen every 500 million or so there after.

So I did a BO run, evolving every item that increases lethal and severity except for rat 2, bird 2, and polyphagia (since buying polyphagia would have caused bath time combo which speeds research). Additionally I devolved zootonic shift, because it increases future research speed (the animals themselves do not). this resulted in 3.1b dead. even if i added the last 2 items, it would not have made a difference.

    Conclusion 1
even having unlimited DNA, our strategy wont work because evolving every item that increases severity and lethality does not achieve success.

    Conclusion 2
using GM strategy won't work because there is not enough DNA to buy all symptoms. Even managing to buy all left side symptoms with GRS2, didn't even hit 3b dead mark.

    Conclusion 3.
Don't waste time on brutal, because Ndemic says its practically impossible.

    Conclusion 4
There has to be a sequence of events and item evolves, that would cause anarchy to occur and reduce the amount of research countries can conduct. Best result, when using the BO strategy i cracked 63 cure jars when the cure hit 100%, by the time the game ended 112 were cracked. this is definitely the only answer. we need to slow the research so the cure can slow down enough and we can kill off them pesky infected humans.

the only clue I have seen i attached below, its a pop-up that says the virus can cause tumours, and shows up a few weeks after the virus is noticed. i tried evolving tomours and rest of symptoms i could afford only after the pop-up (cure almost 20% by then) and noticed 2 countries fell into anarchy instead of the usual 1. maybe random, but it seems like it could be a clue. try experimenting here and see if you have any success.

either way we need to find a chain of events and series of evolutions, just like with the other new achievements, even if they don't have actual event pop-ups.

    Conclusion 5
it is impossible and this is a miserable prank ndemic has played on us!
