For the insane bolt achievement I started in Saudia Arabia. Starting in china also works really good. For me I spent my points as soon as i got them adding symptoms and transmissions as fast as I could. Don't worry at all about fighting the cure they won't have time to do anything before the 365 day deadline. I did add drug resistance 1 early as the disease started spreading but never did add drug resistance 2. Also had cold 1+2 because I started in a warm place. I would recommend having water 1+2 as early as you can to help infect the islands. Once the disease is spreading and you have more DNA points add more symptoms getting necrosis as fast as you can. Then add other deadly symptoms to help raise the lethality. Good luck!
UPDATE: 362 days [Insane Bolt]!!!! Reckon I can shave that by being less cautious.... ......aaaaand, 2 nukes and contaminated blood into the bargain! Just the chuffing space plague thingy now.
peer pressure !! ... ... ... how could people forced government ? should i add a lil symptom until a doctor founds... and then devolve that symptom like nothing ever happened before ? any clue ?
I'm working on this one too. I'm using the unlimited cheat so that I can evolve and devolve willy nilly. I'll post back as soon as I get something solid. I still don't have the achievement yet. Any of you guys who have it that can post a screenshot of everything you have evolved at the time the message pops up would be greatly appreciated.
Shouldn't need to use a cheat. On a casual level, as there's no penalty for devolving symptoms you can keep the disease completely unnoticed. Just ensure your chosen plague spreads and eventually - I started in China but I don't know if location is important - the people become suspicious. A second message (again no symptoms) should announce an enquiry and the next should tell you your plague has been found.
please tell us, specifically... what did you do to achieve peer pressure ? location, symptoms, abilities, transmissions... etc...
I have managed to get the riot/peer pressure achievement four times in a row, now, while trying to get the nuke russia/china achievement. I am not sure exactly how it happens, as I have done different things each time and gotten it on two different disease/difficulty levels (prion on casual/brutal, and bacteria on normal/brutal), but it seems to happen when I follow this general sequence (blacked out for spoileryness): Spoiler 1) Start in Russia/USA 2)Evolve water, air, and sometimes livestock. 3) Evolve drug resistance 1&2. 4) Evolve coughing symptom. 5) Evolve all three of the pathogen's 'special' traits (bacterial resilience and neural atrophy in my case) Whatever it is about this combination of actions...it seems to make people want to riot, ha. After playing undetected for a while I get a message saying that there's rumours of a "mystery plague" in my country of origin, but scientists are handwaving said rumours due to a lack of evidence/symptoms. A short while later there's another message saying that people have started protesting in order to get a 'mystery plague' investigation performed. Shortly after that, you get a message about riots and the cure bar starts to go up (perhaps faster than usual? it seems to go faster after the riots). It was cool the first time I got it, but now I am really annoyed by it! It means that my usual strategy of 'infect everyone before being spotted' isn't as foolproof as it used to be. Which is...well, cool actually, because it makes the game more challenging - but goddamnit, I want the nuke achievement, and keep getting cured before I can get to it.
Argh, for some reason it never comes up on the immunity cheat for me - even though I follow the procedure to get it exactly. I was trying the regular disease types in the hope that it would finally come up - and it finally did, but by the time the POTUS fell ill, the cure was at 95% (due to the %#%^$ riots). I am still trying for it on other settings. EDITED: For clarity.
thanks a bunch !! got it, first try... bacteria - normal start in usa water 1 air 1 livestock 1 drug 1+2 coughing symptom devolve all other symptoms that mutate... bacterial resilience 1+2+3 ... shortly after ... see the pics below the following pics happened one after another... finally 29 of 29 achievements !!
Yay! I'm glad it worked for someone else! And congrats on getting all the achievements! Perhaps I will try to avoid evolving the 'special' traits, to avoid people rioting/being discovered. That seems to be one of the key triggers. Hm.
try the immune cheats... it worked for me... casual - immune cheats i start in usa / rus / chn drug 1+2 first... livestock 1+2... nausea - vomiting - diarrhea - coughing - sneezing - pneumonia - fever - insomnia - paranoia (waiting... here's the most boring process, POTUS will get sick, sooner or later) POTUS sick... add insanity... Spalin elected... go birds 1+2 for chn nuke or... go insects 1+2 for rus nuke... Spalin threatened chn / rus add paralysis... and voila... === tried it a bunch of times, and it worked !! the inconsistency is when POTUS will get sick, but he will...
Thank you for the advice! I have tried that combo before, but never in that exact order, so I'm trying it out now. Man, it is 2020 already though (have been playing for about an hour) and the POTUS still isn't sick. Sadface.
I usually get POTUS around 40,000,000 USA dead, but you have to have Drug 2 before going lethal. If you are at 60,000,000+ USA dead and he is still not sick double check every transmission, symptom and ability Having got the transmissions and abilities save DNA (about 70) to get all the symptoms in one go. I also usually wait for no more healthy before started lethal. Do not evolve hyper sense, inflame or seizures and devolve them immediately if they mutate. If you mutate or evolve insanity or paralysis before required things won't happen. Insomnia + paranoia + live 1 & 2, plus the other symptoms = swine flu pop up, if you get that you know you have done that bit right. See my post on page 63, or fergymcferguson's post on page 68. Immunity cheat, start in the USA, air and water 1+2 and the special extreme bioaerosol. Drug 1+2 probably required as I was nuking when I got it. When you get mission planned, devolve all symptoms, keeping insomnia, paranoia and insanity but nothing lethal. Mission launched = add minor lethal, such as inflame, sit back and wait for mission failure. See forum page 68
