I was sitting here drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette and another crazy idea came to me from God knows where. It might have been already tried but here it goes..

The PfiGlax.. What if we evolve saliva 1 and SG to get the pop up,devole SG asap so we don't get mutations,evolve drug 1 gh gr 1&2 and evolve blood 1 and devole saliva 1 and infect the whole world? Has anyone tried this instead of going zombie?

 

Nothing happens after you get the message about the Pfiglax execs selling their shares.

 

.... Damn!!! It was the only link to AIDS in the game i could think of as being reliable.

 

You need turn people on zombies and soon you get other Pfizer message

 

Patient Zero

Just noticed that this one of the five achievements which is only worth a single point. The other single point achievements are the easiest ones to get - simple combo's and the like.

Are we reading way to much into this one trying to solve a NAZG type or Darkwater type scenario?

Maybe it's much more simple than that?

If you bother to read the thread on the previous page you'll notice that this is an attempt to go down a different route than evolving CR to see if it leads to a different message than we've all already seen by evolving zombies.

 

I don't think AIDS idea may happend, but I got a yellow message saying "Developer: No more zombie games". Maybe it's nothing or maybe is useful.

 

Except the patch notes refer to it as a storyline, which suggest multiple events/messages.

I tend to agree with you there and given the timing of the CDC visit maybe this is related to the 7 original disease types and not Necroa (which I've been focused on).

Back to the drawing board me thinks!

True, but is James playing with us and this single point achievement is in fact more difficult than NAZG

AIDS is of course a virus not a bacteria, a parasite, a prion etc - you get the point

What has been tried in the virus disease type?

 

I don't remember where did I get it. Was a few days ago though I think is random but let me try get it again.

EDIT: I started to remember something, I guess I obtained that message when I was trying to get NAZG but instead of bats messages I got Game Dev message. Strange...

 

I had it a few times, too, when I desperately hunted for NAZG. I think, I had it even in not Necroa games, but it was yellow only with Necroa.

 

Anyway, why bother with NAZG now? Our priority is now CDC because is very hardass. I already had that achievemnt since 1.5.3 through cheating. I will investigate that later...

I have tried simulating the actual "patient zero" by starting in Canada and evolving symptoms based on actual HIV early infection (virus disease type). Then tried with drug resistance. The challenge of course is with so many variables related to timing it is tough to cover all possibilities. For example I am thinking HIV would have blood 1 and 2.... But what if it is only blood 1? Early HIV can include nausea and diarrhea...but is it a symptom progression or all at once? By the way...I do infectious diseases for a living....if you say "what do you think of when you say patient zero" most of us jump right to HIV's patient zero (a Canadian flight attendant). He is mentioned in numerous books on AIDS.

It also has a generic epidemiologic meaning (although we usually say "index case") but that would not help us figure out a specific disease. Still might be a red herring, but it seems to be the best bet to me.

One more thing to confuse us....I just checked...there are at least three books with "patient zero" in title...they all refer to zombies....AAARRGH! Can zombies get HIV?

General references to patient zero do not help us so we have to assume a specific reference.

Unless it is a simple achievement which has a coding issue that is currently preventing us from startiing it. Much like the NAZG code issue with the "rabid bats" message occurring too often in 1.6, hence the 1.6.1 update

Comments James, is the activation code for Patient 0 solid and active?

LOL! oops. Well....you can't expect me to read all the way back to yesterday, can you?

 

I've never believed in this HIV theory anyway as there is no related message to it. Patient zero is the first case of a condition,not necessarily infective. So that's why i've tried to simulate those outbreaks which are mentioned in the CDC pop-ups. So far no joy. Either you have to infect only the native country and let yourself be discovered,then stay low and then unleash it again or maybe it's about the number of infected people. No damn clue. As for the achievement activation,i've already asked mr Vaughan in a post few pages back and he didn't reply. Guess no hints or answers on this one.

 

Well you did demolish NAZG pretty quick, he had to have a backup plan to keep us busy.

 

Well, we tried anything that we know: Few infected ppl with low inefectivity + Follow CDC messages + HIV theory (seriously, this last is very useless. Why follow this if there is not any CDC message related to HIV only because Canadian or Monkey or my Cat is the PZ. First I thought PifGlax needs to evolve HIV stuff but was just SG and Zombie stuff)

So, I guess the PZ investigation is paralyzed 'til James say something or my dog (yes, I have a catdog ) tells me a hint…
