Ashflow - we are working on update 1.2 which completely fixes the memory shortages that a few people are having. Hope to have it finished very soon - hang in there!
Was playing this last night while watching Contagion. Think my girlfriend thinks I'm planning to destroy the world or something. Sharing progress via GC cloud would be great. Some of the more troublesome plagues to beat and unlock, I'm dreading having to try and beat a second time on my iPhone. Haven't had any crashes yet. (iPad 3, wifi.) so that's good!
If OpenFeint is removed to improve performance, I'm all up for it. Most game uses Gamecenter anyway. Can you add an option to randomize the name for your plague? I'm really bad with names. Congrats on being the number 1 paid app in the Appstore.
Cool Thanks for the hard work! I can't wait to play it again. (In the mean time, I'll be taking exams...)
iCloud sync for future update? And what about retina for the new iPad? I don't like at every start if you touch wrong country you have to start there. A confirmation button? Translations (like Italian...) Some effect to confirm that you have captured a dna mark, because playing without sounds it's not simple to understand if we take it. Plague Inc. is very addicted!!!
I've beat the game on normal twice now and none of the other disease types are unlocking. Am I doing something wrong?
Are you sure you won? Did you get the victory screen with buttons for graphs, etc? Or is it possible you killed all your infected without spreading everywhere?
Honestly I'm not sure. Guess I'll have to go for try number 3 and pay more attention. Good thing this game is great fun
I've played Pandemic 2 on the web, and I saw the dev say this is inspired by that game but not the same. How are they different, other than this being a bit easier as said by a couple others? I've enjoyed playing the web based Pandemic, so I'm thinking I'd probably like this as well. And then how does Pandemic 2.5 differ (didn't even know that existed)? One thing I found with Pandemic is that there was a lot of trial and error involved with getting the disease to spread just right (not so fast as to scare everyone to lock down and not so slow that it doesn't go anywhere). Is this element similar in all of these games? It's funny - it's part of the fun and part of the frustration at the same time.
I wouldn't say Plague Inc is easier, though it is easier to get into. Pandemic 2.5 shows you so much info on possible evolutionary routes from the start (everything that you can unlock) that it can be a little overwhelming at first. Plague Inc shows you only the disease attributes that are currently available to you. In general, I'm not gonna lie, the games share some striking similarities, though I imagine it would be hard to come up with a global disease simulator that doesn't share quite a bit with Pandemic (whoever mentioned the symptoms being the same was a bit silly. What should he use instead, Restless Legs Syndrome, Gingivitis?). PI gives you something to do while you watch the disease spread, popping bubbles for DNA points and to slow cure research. It has some other unique mechanisms, such as a single country leading the cure effort, choosing your starting location, and a large variety of unlockable disease types and even cheats. The way your disease evolves is less complicated (no strand length requirements like Pamdemic, just attributes unlocking subsequent ones once bought with DNA points). This is a key feature of both games, and brings me to what may be the biggest and hardest to define difference between the games, the AI. It just works differently. The countries in both games have unique ways of responding to what you are doing. Both are good games. I didn't think Pandemic 2.5 was quite all it should have been, but it's good. If I had to recommend one, it would be Plague Inc however. It just registers higher on the fun scale for me.
Could someone just explain how this is an acceptable "inspired derivative" as opposed to say, the Tiny Tower rips or the ustwo hipster jostle clone? Where's the front page feature on how Plague, Inc is a controversy? Where's the campaign to force the dev to pull this from the App Store?
This has improved upon the original, and added to the formula rather than just shamelessly ripping it off. Hence, no controversy. That and the fact the dev has always said he was inspired to make a better game than pandemic. Can't really be accused of cloning when you come right out and say 'I wanted to make pandemic better'

very frustrating. still cannot unlock any other disease type after winning bacteria on normal. installed it on another iphone 4S now and still no luck. and yes, i have won the levels and can see the statistics, the 'next' button and so on... any idea how to troubleshoot this!?
Loving the game, just one suggestion that may have already been made. Since the game displays such large numbers, they'd be much more readable with commas in them.
What a fab game.. taking up way to much of time tho Hoping you guys can help me tho.. need a tactic for the Nano.. just cant seem to infect enough people before they finish the damned cure!
Do you mean to tell us you've been joining in with previous boycott festivities without actually having a clue about the reasons behind them?
fungus strategy normal i'm sure there are better strategies, but here's how i beat fungus on normal it's going to take a while, so put it on fast forward 1. start in greenland, making the fungus used to cold climate. 2. evolve water 1, 2, air 1, 2 3. evolve heat resistance 1 4. evolve air 1, 2 5. use one spore burst to infect another country 6. anemia will likely mutate, devolve it for 2 points and evolve coughing for better infection. devolve all mutations until there are no healthy countries left, otherwise a cure will start. 7. evolve drug resistance 1 8. evolve heat resistance 2 9. evolve extreme bioaerosol 10. evolve rodent 1, bird 1 11. wait until everyone is infected. 12. evolve anemia, haemophilia, internal haemorrhaging, and hemorragic shock all at once. 13. devolve all transmission traits for dna points including coughing because there is no one left to infect. devolve all heat resistance as well. 14. evolve insomnia & paranoia to slow down cure 15. evolve drug resistance 2, genetic hardening 1, genetic reshuffle 1, genetic hardening 2, genetic reshuffle 2 to further slow down cure with this strategy, the cure was halted at 85% i can't imagine playing this game on brutal LOL
Interesting article I just happened to come across on the topic: http://www.hookshotinc.com/cloning-vs-evolution-pandemic-mutates-into-plague-inc/ Basically sums up my own feelings on the matter.
