I am waiting for the update. NAZG only tells you it's NAZG after ALL steps, no way to know which is the first step or what to do as the second. I've given up on it for now, and spend game time trying to improve speed or high scores.
Same here - It's been maddening trying to find just the right combination of things. So many questions and difficulties in finding it: Are some of the odd entries for trans/ability/symptoms hints? (i.e. bird/bat/rat 2 "partial genomic activation", or the fact that all of the symptoms and most transmissions prior to CR either have to do with neural or gastrointestinal changes) Is it like the origin achievements? Just the right initial conditions, in the right place? Are there any devolve steps? If so.. which, when, and what triggers it? < this one breaks me out into sweats considering it. Mutation increasing transmissions also increase the chance of CR popping up during the run.. this is a fine edge we have to walk if NaZG includes these, taking the chance of losing the achievement purely on random chance. Unless the extraordinary mutation is the key.. Finally.. is there some as-of-yet undiscovered chain of evolutions that open a whole new symptom tree, perhaps involving tumors and other cancerous growth?
I'm going to explore the Darkwater /Egypt / Chernobyl paths without evolving CR and see if anything seems to impact the cure curve. So far, no-one has noticed anything that happens which seems to either slow the cure rate or significantly increase the cure threshold. If that doesn't yield any hints then I'll probably give up on it and go into Plague hibernation until I get the update notification.
Yep! I'm waiting for update, feel like everyone has tried everything, so some breadcrumbs would be lovely!
Hey guys, I'm new to this game, but is there any disadvantage to always fast forwarding? Will you receive less DNA bubbles? Thanks
Everything moves faster, the bubbles seem to disappear a little faster, but there is no detriment to fast forwarding. In fact, unless there are tons of bubbles popping up, or some specific timing, I tend to play with FF on all the time.
NaZG I did as well, but every time the key was to evolve CR after the initial breadcrumb / banner messages. Maybe not evolving CR and looking at another evolution train might be the key to slowing the cure?
NaZG (again) Dimawest, you may well be right about the country specific start, but that makes it an almost impossible guess (unless it's USA, Egypt, Ukraine, or Russia, China, India or Saudi Arabia which I most frequently use myself). One of these days someone will stumble across something and provide the hint we need to get this last one solved. Good luck with it. Ps. Excellent presentation of the achievement paths on your blog.
Been postulated before I'm sure, just watched a program on a global disaster by tsunami. Could NAZG be an induced natural disaster?
Me too! Just watched it myself - scary stuff for NYC, Boston, et al. Can't think of a way to trigger those types of events with a disease, but one day we'll find out the answer to the NaZG conundrum.
I've been experimenting with alternative starting countries to see if anything is possible. So far, nada. But I have some perhaps interesting observations and starting points for others: Starting in Central Europe and only evolving Drug 1/2 allows you to fully infect all of Europe, Russia, and North American countries before the first symptom mutation(more if you're playing with Creationist) Infections are usually on every island as well. This ensures that the highest cure-research countries are primed to fall once you get deadly (yet of course, they never do). Starting in Indonesia and evolving Saliva 1/2 and Water 1/2 is a very quick way to infect much of the world, though the infections are more evenly spread than the above strategy, and it is usually necessary to evolve Cold 1 to ensure Greenland/Russia being solidly infected. I've also noticed that evolving Delerium immediately after the cure hits 100% and you get the pop-up can actually deactivate the cure (very temporary, countries are still spending research $$$). I haven't been able to reproduce the result consistently, but worth considering trying the left-hand symptoms to stave off the cure at the last moment. Has anyone been able to get enough DNA to evolve all the pre-CR symptoms in a NAZG run? I am always mutation-poor when I need it.
Beat the cure in under 100 days? I've been amusing myself with the unlimited cheat plague during a NaZG break trying to beat the cure in under 100 days, but, so far, 115 days is the best I've managed. There's a tricky balance to be struck between severity/lethality and getting all the islands infected before one of them shuts down the ports. Has anyone else played with this and beaten 100 days? I suspect the starting country will also have an influence here. Try it - it's tougher than you'd think. Edit - Started in Saudi Arabia and beat the cure in 105 days. I reckon under 100 days is possible for the hotshots amongst you!
