The placement of the switch for left and right movement makes me think it wouldn't play at all. Your hand would have to stretch too far unless you held it from the bottom edge, but then you have the full weight of the ipad weighing down
Saw this on App Shopper a few minutes ago and flipped -- SO glad to hear the gameplay is living up to the visuals for you guys.
Ok, been playing it for around 15 min now. I have to say that im surprised that the on screen controls work so well compared to other platformers I have on my iPod. I havent had any frustration with them so far. The game is great and well worth the 1.99
??? It's only 30 minutes of gameplay? Anyways, this looks really awesome, but for 1.99 I'm still on the fence... although I love retro platformers like this. Would anyone say this is better than Frogatto?
Agreed. The game is challenging (at least for me) without feeling cheap, and the controls are definitely up to the task of navigating the level designs. You can even jump onto flying enemies with accuracy. I have yet to blame the controls for any of my (many) deaths .
I've put in over 30 minutes and have yet to get out of the second level (out of 12, I believe). I think the 30 minutes from the description refers to a perfect speed run through all the levels. Then again, maybe I just suck at it . Frogatto is more like Yoshi's World or DK Country. This is a more traditional platformer. That said, I prefer Pizza Boy's controls.
I am not really having any problems playing this on the iPad. Controls are a little bit of a stretch but they work. Really great game, they really nailed the graphics and controls.
I haven't actually gotten this game yet, and I may as soon as I have wifi available, but as far as the length is concerned, most people would spend around $10 to see a movie in theaters, which are usually around 2hrs, so that's about $2.50 per half hour. If this game is anything like the reviewers say it is, it's probably worth the asking price. An official mario style platformer would usually cost at least $30 on any other system and for probably only with a few times more content than this game. I think I'm going to get it just to support the devs as they seem to have a lot of talent. The graphics look great, the levels designs and gameplay definitely remind me of some of the original mario games, and apparently the controls are great too. Looks like a winner
I think the dev should remove the 30 minute part in their app listing. I can see some people not buying this great game because of that and unless you are a gifted gamer, you mare not going to beat it that fast. Excellent game.
From the email I got from the dev, it looks like that "30 minute" line is coming out soon. Don't know if this is the best platformer in the App Store, but it's definitely the one I've found the most entertaining from the get-go.
It may be only 30 minutes long but I would rather pay for 30 mins of fun than a game that lasts longer and gets repetitive . Great little platformer
Did you actually finish it in 30 minutes? Because unless I improve significantly at it, I'm on track for a 2+ hour run.
