There’s a friend system, though it’s hard to find friends who are not fully booked. Being able to view their maps gives some inspiration. Yes, there’s a lot of IAP, mostly for what’s available anyway by (not) playing. I’ve watched a few ads in support of development. This game is most fun when your either making a whole new island from scratch or adjusting the one you’ve made to suit the new buildings you collect.
