Hello! New to the forum here but I registered because I have some questions about the game re: some glitches I've been experiencing since the new update. I figured this would be the best place to ask.

Yesterday, I turned on my ipad to see that my 178/210 profession counter changed to 35/210. When I go into the pages, it doesn't seem like anyone has been deleted, but the counter is off and won't seem to fix itself, even when I discover new professions. A friend of mine told me the same thing happened to her this morning, but her count is only off by about 15. The only positive side effect is that the game now thinks that I'm still in the early stages, and so all of my building times and clone arrival times are severely reduced to the times they were when I started (i.e. 2 minutes for a clone, 20 minutes for a building).

Also, one general question but are the items unlocked through missions (plazas, special trees etc.) only available for one-time use? I've noticed that my gold plaza and utopium blossom are nowhere to be found in the decor page, and I've searched all the residence pages for the plaza, too, but can't find anything.

Is anyone else hearing of these issues or am I just really unlucky?

    Yep you're right.
I did put trees/housing/arrival center etc in the center of the map in the beginning. Now I am used to check the popping heart without tapping the heart meter, but I guess it's only a matter of time as I run out of space in the screen.
Tbh I like having hearts and trees at the same place. Because usually I don't play much of PP, only once a day, maybe collect a few U and surprises, and tap my biggest earner, don't even bother to tap half the buildings that I've not upgraded. That still nets me about 80m coins a day.
With the update, I've been back collecting 25u a day from trees and a lot of surprises. I was bothered by hearts before, because there were too many to tap to get a surprise and I didn't care aout the animals at all. Now with only 4 to tap, their faster appearance and animals used in the missions, I'm tapping 'em again :D
In the endgame, I'll build a nice city, not only utilitarian I guess.
For now, I focus on efficiency though.

And I don't plan to get rid of my Shiny towers' even if I'm flush with manors ;)

My understanding is that you don't "unlock" astroglass items, but you can get any number of each through the casino and/or missions.

Thanks for the list TRB4! That will help me decide what to upgrade next.

I'm sure someone will be able to answer this: what are the disadvantages of leveling up (increasing land by using coins), other than increasing the spirit needed for the 50% discount? I've already reached the price cap for the animal shelter and the casino.

None other to my knowledge once you're at the cap. But the spirit increase is a big deal, taking about 20% of your land expansion minimum. At least if you don't get AG decor.

I had bought a lot of land after the 150m cap as I do make that in 2 days with minimal tapping from my setup. And I thought the price could go up.

I was maybe 340/440 before the update. And the decor needed shot up from 100 (that I did have) to 186. That was a bad surprise, with so many new buildings and clones. So I did buy decor with my U stash to go to 180.
In retrospect that was a very bad idea as getting AG decor is pretty easy with the casino.

Also the caps could be changed

    THINGS AFFECTED BY LEVELING

    PROS
    - Missions with coin rewards have larger rewards
    - The exchange rate for utopium to coins will increase

    CONS
    - Cost of Land expansion increases
    - Cost of Animal Shelter Instant Surprise increases
    - Cost of Casino spin increases
    - Missions that require coins will require more coins
    - Spirit needed for discount will increase

Here are the current level caps
At level 20 you will reach the cap for casino cost and animal shelter cost.
At level 27 you will reach the cap for expansion cost, utopium to coin exchange, mission coin rewards, and mission coin requirements.
Spirit, as far as i know, has no cap.

Also, rewards from Heart Packages increases.

Just touched-down from a 20-hour flight. I'll try to catch up on mails/queries/complaints tomorrow morning.

It would be nice to have an option to level down. You'd return 10 empty land at each step, and your casino and animal shelter costs (among other things) would go down.

I think that this would "break" the game. Essentially you could eventually be able to go all the way down to level 1, by using the Astro Church to buy land. Your CPS would more than enough to cover the cost of the Casino and the Animal Shellter, so much so that you would be practically playing for free. This would lead to unlimited utopium, animals, and Astroglass housing, decor, and trees.

If you want to do that, then you will have to reset your game and very carefully and patiently min/max your town. I could write another guide on how to do this, but I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone that actually wants to enjoy the game.

Yeah, I would love to try all kinds of strategies if I could back-up my main city first. Or, like you said, have a second city. Makes me wish I have a second iOS device. Or that this game was on
    Android
(it's not a spoiler, but I know that to some people that word is heresy on these boards).

Quick question, I thought I heard someone say that Shiny Towers were available from level 1 now, is that true? Or do you still need 110 land first?

Also, a question for someone who just started, how soon do you get the Bureaucrat gene?

I too have been trying to figure out what triggers the reset. Some days I can only collect 25u once, and other days I am able to collect 25u during two different sessions.

Wish I knew how to activate it

My family will be getting another IOS device shortly, so I'm going to try a second game on that, taking advantage of astroglass housing, decor and trees and church expansion for necessary land (i.e. standard buildings only) from the earliest point possible.

Well the absolute most important thing to get as soon as possible is the Astro Church. Luckily it has one of the shortest splicing paths to reach it, it actually only requires 2 splices to unlock. Unfortunately you need the Dreamer gene first, and that gene arrives randomly.

After you get the Church, you will want to get the Utopia HQ and the Casino in order to get Astroglass items. You might also want an Animal Shelter to get faster surprises.

Once you have those buildings, you don't really ever need to level up again. And once your CPS eclipses your cost for the Animal Center and the Casino, you'll be making utopium and money super fast. Eventually you should get a Research Lab to reduce hearts needed and a bank for the multiplier, but you'll have plenty of time for that later.

By the way, does anyone know what triggers the Dreamer gene? Is it number of jobs found, level, or time based? Same question for the Bureaucrat gene. Because I believe that those are the only 2 roadblocks for a low level city.

Man. That sounds really fun. Do we know if this is possible in terms of land used at level 1, and what the casino cost is at level 1? Good point about the genes, I have no info on either of those.
