Unlucky? Curious, am I just unlucky or what? I have purchased around 300 instant surprises and cannot get a Duck or a Dodo. Each are required to unlock the next two genes.
You miss the hitchhiker gene you can only buy for 100u in the gene pool building go tap those trees for 4 days now

Well technically the odds of getting a specific Tier 5 animal is 200:1, so to answer your question, yes you are unlucky.
I have to wonder. I have x10 ducks just squatting there in my reserves. Seems strange that you can't find one. Then again, you need one, so, there's your answer. I just had something kind of weird happen on a related note. I have been waiting for an Alsatian dog for ages, for the center piece of a Good Boy Peach mission. I finally received one from a heart surprise, so jumped over to the mission center to collect my GBP utopium only to see the Alsatian cell still empty. I looked in my animal collection, and...no Alsatian. WTF? It just never was collected, for some reason. Anyone else have this happen? Meanwhile, I keep collecting dogs, but always other types, no Alsatians. So, guess we're having similar luck with what we need Fizz.

Hehe...yes, sometimes we take these games too seriously. Luckily for me, I was laying on a hammock on my deck in the sun, so I just shut off the phone and relaxed. But...I have not forgotten!!!
By my calculation, the odds of getting any specific animal are as follows (hat tip to TRB4 for the percentages) Spoiler Tier1: 0.99% Tier2: 0.72% Tier3: 0.90% Tier4: 0.75% Tier5: 0.50% So the Duck should not be noticeably more common than the Dodo. You have been unlucky, but not uncommonly so.
Well the game was addictive at first but kind of lost its magic right now. I cant see myself keep coming back to splice or build stuff really.
Question on the trees: I believe the daily maximum is 25u. Does this require at least 25 trees, or can each tree produce more than 1u if you haven't reached 25u from trees for the day?
Not really, I've gotten like 4 ducks in the past two days. I guess I must just be lucky because I got the trout and 2 dragons before I even needed them. However I can't find a chicken at all. ;3; That and like, I was waiting on my final dog for like two days, then after I finally got one I got like 5 dogs in row fml.
Not sure what we can do to address that. We just hope that we've delivered a great experience while you we're into it. Feel free to come back anytime! We're still improving the game's experience, in particular for newer users while simultaneously crafting out the longer end game experience for everyone. It is a really great game...I do eventually wore my way out of these types of games...I will keep this game on my devices in case I do come back to this where there is similar content to add to my city a bit like beforehand What drew me off is the fact of unlocking the special genes in the update. Don't get me wrong, I like the missions. It's just the heavy depending on animals that kind of helped throw it off for me. I was playing this game a few times a day, so the amount of time I was getting hearts was very small, and if I were to improve the time, I would need to spend Utopium. For my rate of playing, I was pretty much only getting the 1-2 Utopium you got from the mine. And even after you upgrade the hearts, the frequency you would be getting the animals you wanted would be small. Maybe if special genes could be handled by say a mini-game or by getting certain achievements and if missions were reserved for getting coins and Utopium, I would be fine with that. Also, the game has started to lean towards Utopium purchases as well, with the 100U gene and needing to put extra spirit-thingies (can't remember the name right now). Add that with making Shiny Towers every level and saving up for heart upgrades, it just started to make the game feel like a cash-grabber to me. But thanks for the last 2 months of gaming with this and good luck with the future of this game
I'm not sure if this bug has been mentioned, but whenever a mission calls for a non-specific dog, it seems to be automatically filling in the places with Alsatians, even when I don't have any. I now have -7 Alsatians!
@Ivan: I'm still not sure about the casino animals prizes: can you get animals with the casino that you've already discovered through surprises, but have not in stock? @Hoggy: they're very generous with U in game as long as you invest time in it which is more than fair imho. I agree, it takes time playing to gather the daily 25u from trees, surprises etc, but as it's mostly tapping, you can do that casually while doing other things
