If I have any criticism of this patch, it's that not enough new job splices were surprising or hard to figure out. And too many used the new special genes and weren't stacked on top of other spliced clones. Some of the most fun I had in the base game was trying to figure out how to make a watchmaker so I could finally get big money from the City Square. The latest expansion didn't really have any puzzles like that.
Very cool update. Lots of new types of game play. I've been having some fun with the game and checking in here cautiously, trying to learn a few new things without spoiling the new surprises the update offers. I am glad I did though, as I missed a few key things that others astutely picked up on, including: 1. The new housing that is awarded from missions/casino surprises does not take up land space. I was rather disappointed when I initially completed expensive missions to win these new forms of housing (yep, I leaped right in and overspent on these missions before realizing my folly ) only to find them inefficiently supporting only two tenants/land space. I almost deleted them, but thankfully waited. 2. Gold hearts and repositioning the beating heart. Cool, and very intriguing. What do they do? How do you get them? I have no idea, as I've only had a dozen or so, and they've generally given me dud coin surprises. I've tried every combination of repositioning the hearts onto the couple with the highest coin return, or those that could combine to create a new professions, and trying to start the heart growth on the gold color, etc. with no success. I would never have noticed either heart feature (color or repositioning) without checking in here and reading about it. Looking forward to more clarity in the near future, or when the next update comes, if that's what we're waiting for. Here's my short list of things I was pleased with and disappointed with: Pleased (Things that make me want to keep playing longer): - Animals have value! - The research that allowed me to reduce the # of hearts to 4 - The missions and casino. They are fun new features that will create more interesting ways to spend that cash that piles up once you've spliced every new profession. - New decor and tree. - Gold hearts - WTF? Can't wait to find out. Disappointed (Things that will make me stop playing earlier): - I still have to plink all of those buildings to keep them active, and even with upgrades, they are not active long enough, at least for my taste. I just don't want to check in on this game hourly or create rows of duplicate buildings. - The trees still just give 10 coins once the utopium runs out. That makes me stop plinking for the day. - The new housing and special trees aren't that special. For example, it'd be cooler if the new trees kept giving utopium beyond the daily limit. - Everything is all so...Earthly-looking. I mean, it's a space colony, right? Seems like there's a missed opportunity to design cooler looking buildings that would be more intriguing to get/make multiples of. The characters/names, etc are all so imaginative. The buildings, in comparison, are all so boring. - The dud frequency on the shelter surprises still seems too high to me. It'd be more tolerable if there was a large coin prize to balance off the sting of the multiple 100,000 coin prizes that seem to come so often. Toss me a 10million coin award now and then. Anyway, just a few suggestions. In general, I love this game, and the new update, well done Chillingo!
I like the fact that it takes these new missions to find the special genes. Besides the high cost of upgrading before the update, there wasn't too much of a challenge to unlock everything. This may not appeal to everyone, but I do like the extra bit of challenge so that I don't fly through it as quickly this time.
I ran into the bug where I put a firefighter on vacation to the hotel and then couldn't send him back to work. The fix I read here worked like a charm, put the other firefighter on vacation too, then put the first one back to work and then the 2nd one. When you skip a mission it's only a temporary skip, they will come around again eventually right? I'm stuck with special gene missions that I don't qualify for but I don't want to lose the opportunity to unlock those.
Didn't realize the new update would also include new professions. Hopefully no new special genes missions though, some of those animals were such a pain to get! Anyway, how long does that usually take then, once it's been submitted?
heart surprises I wonder why the gold heart always appears in the left-most available slot, even if it's not the first heart you collected in a particular series? I also wonder about the 4-5 pulses that all of the hearts you've collected in a series make before becoming solid hearts. Are we able to do something during the time those hearts are flashing that might affect the value of the surprise? Can you tell I'm stalled as I wait for a couple key animals to unlock my special genes (I have dragons and otters coming out of my ears, but, alas, no trout or bats), and am out of money due to reckless gambling and spending at the animal shelter? Nothing left to do but speculate on hearts. I'm interested to hear any new ideas/insights you all have developed. Based on Ivan's cryptic comment, I don't think he's gonna spill any more beans on the matter.
I believe that all hearts appear in the left most slot and push the other ones right. You just can't normally tell because all the hearts look the same.
Bugged achievement I just got the tier 1 animal achievement from a donkey, despite the fact I have 0 of some cats right now and have never gotten the last dog.
I've come across a weird glitch, every time I try to place the mechanic eve jobs into the hotel it creates a clone of eve jobs in the house they were initially in, leading to infinite mechanics filling up space, rather annoying.
Another bug Hi there, I've finished the latest update, got all the clones, etc, but all of a sudden my clone counter at the top is showing 155/210. When I tap it the game exits and I'm left staring at the iPhone home screen. When I restart the game it loads as if it is starting from the very beginning - ie, I see all the splash screens again. There is one advantage: if I do a 'Surprise Me' from the Animal Shelter, and I don't like what I received I can immediately tap the 155/210 display, the game will quit, and when I open it again, I'm back to where I was a few seconds before I did the 'Surprise Me' - so I can do it again and hope I get something better. If I don't, it's another 155/210 tap, and around I go again. Any suggestions? I've tried a restart of the phone but to no avail.
Does the Racecar Driver bug prevent discovery of new occupations? I'm stuck at 202/210, and wasn't able to build a new building when I unlocked the Racecar Driver (even though it said it would require 1 land).
@Ben909 It's probably because any new occupations you still have to unlock require a special gene you haven't unlocked yet. Check you're gene pool to see which special genes you still need to unlock. I'm in the homestretch of the update now, got every special gene and now I'm trying to conserve some u and play it a bit intelligently I'm slightly dissappointed that all new professions only make 1 cps. Why is that? With the original 150 the later jobs started making 2 or even 3 cps. Is it just because you don't want players to make too much money too fast? Or will later updates start adding higher earning workers again?
