I'd like to echo Vic's comments here. The "charm factor" of this game is outstanding, and I actually had several laugh out loud moments when unlocking new people. Some of my favorites from the recent update: Spoiler Female gymnast quote "I'm not impressed". The McKayla Maroney meme strikes again! Spoiler Male gamer name "L33T Haxxor" Spoiler Male investor name "Warren Alacarte" Spoiler Socialite + Animal Trainer = Party Animal Spoiler Hitch Hiker + Guru = Tree Hugger Spoiler Addition of the butler to the hero mansion, male name "Alfred Caine" Spoiler Addition of an entire band to the bar! Very well done! But there were a few head scratchers also: Spoiler Why would the arcade have the game designer, programmer and artist but the gamer is in the tech park? Seems backwards to me. Spoiler I don't understand the mascot in the recreation center. He/she belongs in the ballpark or stadium (but that's already full) where the clones would be sport spectators, not sport participants like at the rec center. And on that note, the ballpark seems very underdeveloped to me. In addition to the mascot, you could probably add a coach there also. Spoiler Shouldn't there be a disc jockey in the disco? Overall, I very much enjoyed the new content and I think the mission system and casino are really great. There's more of a reason to play a few minutes each day, other than tapping on trees. Every time I win a new astroglass residence, I expect I'll take some time to move my people from the Terra Terraces and Atomic Cottages I had built before. Every time I win astroglass decor, I'll spend some time finding a logical and aesthetically pleasing location for it in my city. There's now much more long-term value to the game. One last suggestion, for the mission system. Just as you have to spend some time to research the gene combinations for the people, I think you should have to spend the time to figure out the correct animals. For example, if a mission wants a carnivore or an aquatic animal, you should have to browse your animal inventory to find and select the appropriate type. (This would solve some other problems with auto-selection, perhaps.) I know this idea seems contrary to many of the requests on this forum for increased gameplay efficiency, but I think missions should be more than just looking at the nine elements to decide if you want it, and then tapping the complete button. You should have to spend a few minutes to complete each one. My $0.02 anyway.
In my opinion, the 4M and 10M costs at the Animal Shelter and Casino are prohibitive for these to be regular gameplay actions. But once you have all the land you need, what else are you going to spend coins on? If you are collecting a few million new coins a day (including overnight and any other time you are away), and/or have saved up a few hundred million since the last update, why not burn them here? I'm keeping ~700-800M coins "in reserve" for the next update (to buy 40 more land when I need it) but anything more than that can be spent for animals or casino spins without me worrying about it.
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but deleting a painted house left the paint layer lingering. This wasn't a persistent problem as moving another building over the space fixed it, but peculiar nonetheless.
I also observed this, with the same results. Another thing that I noticed is that you can't paint a house until it has at least 1 resident living in it. Kind of irritating since new houses are built in random colors now.
Quick questions: Some of the new "Special Genes" are only unlockable if you do their respective missions OR if you pay a rather high price of 100u or so ? So to get all jobs, I'd HAVE to do those missions or save looots of u? If so, sadly, I am done with the game, because that is just not the way I play it. Unlocking the first 155 jobs was fun and possible without pricey IAP or playing it all the time. I want to be able to "finish" it by playing at my own pace and without having to get each and every animal.
Missions are where everything is at. Only one is the hitchhiker for 100u. We're currently taking a second look at that and collecting feedback, but so far, it's a welcome addition to players who have gotten their city going and are raking in a decent rate of Us. An end game city actually takes a little over a day to collect that amount of U.
Exactly. We didn't want the animal shelter or the casino to REPLACE the core mechanics. It's meant as a coin dump in the excess of land. With that said though, we've seen smart players opt for a casino spin strategy to minimize leveling up and focus on astraglassing everything.
So im at 178/210 but arrival center no longer highlights possible combinations. Do i need to find the rest myself?
You need to unlock new special genes by doing missions or buy the Hitch Hiker gene at the Gene Pool for 100u
Oh, some of these missions are just wonderful. Once I realised what the Ice and Fire one was referencing, I laughed and laughed. But the best one has to be "Good Boy Peach". Never would have expected that to be referenced in a city builder game. Or any game really.
So Im just about at 210/210. Im kind of dissapointed there were no new decorations (non-astroglass ones) or roads. My farm area looks awfully funny with roads. I really want dirt roads and just plain grass!
25 from trees - easy 1 or 2 from Utopium Mine - easy 1 or 2 from Free daily adoption - 5.0% or 2.0% chance 2 or 5 from Free daily spin - 7.6% or 3.8% chance So assuming you had a REALLY lucky day and gained 2u from mine, 2u from adoption, and 5u from casino, plus your 25 from tress, that gives you 34u. So that means to earn the remaining 66u all you would need to do is either: 1) Play the Casino around 193 times, to beat the odds, which end game would cost 1.93 Billion coins a day. 2) Try the Animal Shelter around 786 times, to beat the odds, which end game would cost 3.144 Billion coins a day, or take about 26 hours 12 minutes of tapping hearts with the maximum research upgrades, oops, 26 hours won't fit in a day. 3) There are 12 missions that award utopium (mission rewards are 2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3,4,6,6), with the average amount being 3.25u. So that means that you would need to complete around 21 missions. So even if you did a combination of all 3 options, the claim that an "End Game" city can produce 100u a day is rather exaggerated.
To be fair, Ivan did say a little over a day to get 100u. And I think that's a fair evaluation. Regardless, you can get it in 4 days of pure tree grinding, which imo is very fast for basically the only very expensive premium content that is "required".
Think you are forgetting the animals that you get along the way by adoption/hearts/daily spins. Also, the 1u-2u reward in the animal shelter is definitely a bug, we never intended it to be that. It was to remain 2u-5u. A little over a day, yes. this is important, because you get 26-27u a day from trees and mine. That's already 52u to 54u with the midnight clock ticking over. With some missions/spins and a little luck, you'll reach 100u in no time really.
