Thank you TRB4 and Tukkun for the many helpful messages. The odds you report do seem to jive with what I've experienced with the game.

I kind of like the fact that the odds are so low for getting the rare animals, partially because there's not a lot to keep you playing once you've "won" the game. I am still waiting on the patch for the romantic additions, but otherwise, have kind of maxed out the play options and am just kind of re-decorating and adding duplicate buildings/jobs. The last 3 or four animals I have yet to get are the only thing left to achieve! :p

On that note, it seems like there are sort of two ways to go with duplicate buildings, depending on how often you play the game. If you are regularly checking in for short periods of time, and don't mind clicking all of the buildings to recharge them, then you should make more of the higher return buildings like the town center and maybe the hero's mansion. If, on the other hand, you only check in a couple times a day, it would seem better to build more of the longer working buildings like the space buildings and stadiums, etc.

I would say, in general, it would be nice if many of the buildings had longer working times, say on the order of an hour or so, upgradeable to several hours. That would reduce the very tedious need to constantly keep clicking most of the buildings every 5-20 minutes, and would help build coins faster for infrequent players so coins had more relevance in the later game for those folks. I suppose some may like having to keep reactivating the buildings though?

    Ideas

Some of these I know have already been mentioned but I wanted to include all of my thoughts.

    • Bridges
    • Water: There should be the option for water to make lakes. I was thinking that this would act like roads or waterways so they wouldn't count towards land but would not generate bonuses like trees.
    • Cars: There has been hints to cars on the roadways sometime later this year. I think it would be fun to have this act like animals so you can win/unlock vehicles to add that additional element of excitement.

    Buildings
    • Power Plant: Special feature to power all inactive buildings with the push of a button.
    • Casino: Could add additional features as simple of a daily spin to win prizes or something more complicated like a slot machine.
    • Mall: Bonus area to put smaller buildings in to gain an additional multiplier when full.

These are just a few. Does anyone know of an official place to submit ideas or feedback to LambdaMu?

  4. They should rather make waterways connected to each other water...I've made a lake an river in my city, and the trees in the middle of the water are an eyesore

    the game is trolling me.
I've spent 28M in gene pool.
Out of 14 deliveries I've got:
    10 times 5k coins
    1 time 50k coins
2 times animals (tier 1 and tier 2)
    1 time utopium

    Bleh...

I think the cost of accelerate in gene pool must be lowered with each permaheart.

    Greetings Mayors!

Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to the Utopia experiment so far. As you can imagine, a project of planetary proportions is not without its teething pains, and we at Utopia Corp. are working as fast as we can to smoothen out some of these bumps in the road to reconstruction.

We would also like to take this opportunity to apologize for the limited communication over the last few days. Utopia HQ was overrun by quite a terrible bug, but this time it was the organic kind, incapacitating almost everyone here including the usually infallible Ivan. We've been reading all your posts while in quarantine, and taking note of all the difficulties that are being faced. Now that we have recovered, we should be more available to channel some of our time to responding to this outlet.

The most important piece of news for now is that the patch has been submitted and we will notify you as soon as it goes live. We appreciate your patience in this matter, as these processes are unfortunately not instantaneous. We would love to address and update all issues immediately, however each batch of fixes needs to go through Quality Assurance and Mothership Approval, which can take on average a week each time (after we are done making fixes).

Though all information pertaining to maintenance is kept strictly confidential, I have managed to peek at some of the titles for modules that apparently made it into the recent patch
    1. Investigative Module 143: Romantic Reextraction
    2. Corrective Module XGENE: Missing Mutant Mitigation
    3. Corrective Module SFX: Audio Aberration Amelioration
    4. Enhancement Module 5U: Formula Visibility Activation

The list was much longer however my photographic memory gene is not what it used to be. I should get a tune up.

Once again thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. I will scroll the last few pages again and reply to anything critical that hasn't been addressed thus far. In the mean time, sit tight and hopefully the update takes care of most outstanding issues.

In other news, we are seeing some huge breakthroughs at our main gene pools. It seems like there are many more discoveries on the horizon.

    Warmest regards
    Utopia Corp. Press Office

Wow sorry, didn't see your lenghty reply. Thanks for the effort.

Yeah I noticed that filling up buildings gives a bigger revenue. I am doing this as much as possible, in some cases jobs are undiscovered jet. So I have to be patient there.

What I notice is that these games have a long-term focus instead of short-term entertainement (games and gaming are entertainement). So when playing this I get annoyed be the lack of 'results' from the game when I want to play for shortwhile. While the game is focused on developement. Makes you want to spend money on in-game currencies and getting only shortterm entertainement voor a lot of money. In many cases not even supporting long-term development. :p
I think if games like Pixel People want to survive in the long-term and the area between short and long (gray area, transition-area). There also needs to be something to do besides refreshing buildings and checking if everything is working properly. A simple solution are mini-games but those tend to get repetitive after a while or require frequent addition of new content.
I am saying this because I play or have been playing similar games to Pixel People. Everytime things tend to get 'boring' or dev's are struggling to get new gamecontent out, people just hop over to other games. While they initailly were enjoying the game.

    patch

It's good news to hear about the patch, I'm currently stuck at 154/155, been like that for a few days now and no sign of that
    Mutant
anywhere. I've got plenty of space to put down new buildings and I've been filling heart meter quite a few times a day just in case that makes a difference.

I've come to the conclusion that my game must be bugged. I've really enjoyed the game so far and look forward to additions of new jobs in the future , keep up the good work :)

My experimental city is almost complete. The amount of dedication and fun factor is incredible. Utopia Corp should be proud. I have eagerly invested in utopium. On a side note will my space city be granted large pools of water, and possibly bridges over waterways? Hmmm and maybe a Bakery.

    Thanks

One suggestion that I would like to pitch is an increasing daily reward. Many games use a reward system like that to encourage logging in daily, where the bonus increases each consecutive day. But if you miss a day, the rewards get reset back to day 1. Some games return back to day 1 after day 5, and some games keep awarding the day 5 reward as long as the player keeps logging in everyday. That choice would be up to the developers to decide.

Here is an example of a pretty typical reward scale:

    Day 1: 1u
    Day 2: 3u
    Day 3: 5u
    Day 4: 10u
Day 5: A new type of Surprise pack that has better prizes than a standard Surprise pack. Prizes like 20u, 1,000,000c, a guaranteed rare animal, or even new unlocks (like genes or buildings).

I think that by adding something like this it will ensure that players who have already unlocked everything will still have a reason to play everyday.

    What does everyone think?

I will agree and disagree simultaneously ;)

The form of your suggestion is very good. However, I'm getting tired of all these "infinite" games. No matter how long I live, my days still only have 24 hours in them, and so there is a very finite cap on how many "infinite" games I can find the time and attention span to play in between everything else going on in my life.

A big appeal of Pixel People is the way it's been set up to have a beginning, middle and soft end (you can stretch that end out quite a bit, and content updates will keep moving the finish line, but there is most definitely a point where the heavy lifting is over).

3 weeks in and I have all jobs unlocked, all buildings, 100% employment in all the buildings, a completely re-arranged "final" city layout (subject to change as any future buildings may inspire my creativity), and I'm just checking in a few times a day, racking up 3 heart surprises and as many tree utopiums as I can, and then moving on. At this point, I just need to finish the decorations and quick surprises achievements (as well as the may-never-finish-them animal achievements, but since those are pure BFI, whether I get them or not will be blind luck). There's still a bunch of areas I want to fill in with trees, but there's no rush, and I like that.

This game and Tiny Tower share a (gaming wise) spiritual and thematic core. Tiny Tower would have been a much better game had they simply had an end goal of a Penthouse Suite after you build 150 floors and then no more, but they just kept phoning in more of *exactly* the same thing you'd been doing monotonously for months, and the game just burned out for me and I'm sure most players. If you plugged at it until you ran out of floors to build, so what, the 120th floor was *exactly* the same process as the 12th floor.

So, if they want to attract us to play daily, I want to see something worth showing up for daily and, frankly, as much fun as I've had with the game, there isn't anything in it's action mechanics so far that are sustainable for more than a month or two. Refreshing buildings, tapping forests, and holding heart buttons does not make for addictive gaming for the long haul.

I think the exciting thing that pixel people can do that tiny tower doesnt is have certain buildings with special abilities. I find that this has the potential to keep the game very fresh instead of Tiny Tower where every building was the same thing. Another thing is that tiny tower started to feel like a lot of work once you reached an absurd amount of floors, and I can see Pixel People doing the exact same. So I hope they do introduce something like a power plant so that for a one time fee you can click the plant to give all the buildings energy, of course on a cooldown so it cant be abused.
