In spite of my impatient tendencies I usually don't buy IAP's, and just earn what I need in game. There are only a few games I have spent money on, and that now includes this one. After spotting a '20% off all iTunes cards' sign in the supermarket the other day I grabbed one and then bought the double time and some utopium. I didn't go crazy and get everything I needed to finish the game but it gave me a nice boost.
I'm currently sitting on 149/155 people. Overall I like the game and have only purchased the one off $0.99 upgrade. Things I do like City Building/designing city layouts Creating new jobs Having to factor in planting trees and decorations, while competing for land use at the same time. Having to make decisions on which buildings to upgrade first, basing on both refresh time and cps. Additional building functions Things I dislike Needing to refresh each building manually. Reminds me far too much of the tiny tower problem. It adds no game play value - I just want a single button to hit at any time that will refresh all buildings. I struggle finding combinations of known jobs. I don't like going around checking buildings trying to find where that job I want to duplicate is.
Sorry I took so long to post this, but it was a lot to write. Hopefully this doesn't get modded right after I post it (so much writing, ugh). Alright, here is the information that I have learned by looking through the games files. First, land expansion is not unlimited, it is only coded up to Spoiler 500 land, and the final upgrade will cost 700,000,000c without discounts. Also, Roadways and Waterways are coded to be Seasonal, or rather to change based on the season. All land tiles also have a setting for "growth". It also seems like at one point in the development of the game that wild grass would suddenly appear in your town and that you would need to remove it in order to build buildings there. I have listed the wild grass info below: Display Name: Wild Grass Description: Grassland Tile Comments: Special tile that are leave after clearing up buildings. MORE Description: You need to clear this landscape to make room for other building! Preview Description: Wild grass suddenly appears Next I looked through the buildings and found a couple interesting things. The first thing is that several buildings seem to have originally had different Special Features which I have listed below: Spoiler Astro Church: Offer hourly tips. It seems like the Astro Church was originally going to provide an amount of coins hourly. Gene Pool: Reproduction utility now available in houses. It seems like the Gene Pool was suppose to have been needed in order to make houses produce hearts. Library: Handbook/recipe bank. Perhaps the Library was where you would read the game hints and job combos. Utopium Mine: Spawns 1 Utopium (Goop) every x hours. It seems that the mine was originally going to produce Utopium hourly, not daily. Also Utopium was also known as "Goop". News Agency: Unlock Ticker. Perhaps the news ticker at the bottom of the screen wasn't going to appear until we had a News Agency. Observatory: Unlock Zoom Function. It sounds like the Observatory was going to be needed in order to zoom in and out. Radio Station: Unlock iPod Music. Perhaps an in game music controller? Research Facility: Unlock free play. I have no idea, maybe the original game only had a story mode when you started. Space Admin: You can now build additional spaceports! This one is really interesting. In the game files, spaceport refers to the Arrival Center (its "Display Name" is Arrival Center, but its "Name" is Spaceport. The Space Port is called Airport in the files, which explains the graphic in the game.) So originally the Space Admin building was going to allow us to build additional Arrival Centers so that we could get clones faster. Gallery: Unlock Landscape. I think that the Gallery was going to change the background instead of the Observatory. Town Hall: Manual Save Game. I guess that there was once a save feature at the Town Hall. Bank: Buildings can now bloodlust when fully occupied. This combined with the Bank's build menu description "Allows you to periodically double your town's production rate." makes me think that the Bank's ability to double CPS was going to be an ability that the player activated and had a cool down timer. Bar: Facebook and Twitter integration active. A social aspect maybe? Here are some build menu descriptions for buildings that you can't build: Spoiler Utopium Mine: Is this why the trees taste funny? Arrival Center: The heart of your settlement. Processes a maximum of 3 new arrivals at a time. Town Hall: It would be confusing if your town had more than one of these. They probably just overlooked the Dating Agency that came with the update, but you can't build another one of those either. Anyway, you can tell that the just copied the last building before it, the Altar, as a starting point for the Dating Agency because it has the same build menu description - Because things just got real. Now how about some unused buildings? Anyone interested in those? Well read below: Spoiler Here is an example of a building in the game already, the Police Station. This is so that you know what each part of the building each category is referring to. Display Name: Police Station Discription in Build Menu: Unlock Super Rare Characters Category: Administration MORE Description: We never knew how the cloning experiment would actually turn out. It was prudent to have law enforcement installed early. It's a good thing the station hasn't received a single call yet. Motto: BIG BROTHER LOVES YOU Multiplier: 4x Working Time: 3 min Workers: 3 Jobs: Detective, Police Officer, Deputy Now here are 2 buildings that are in the code, but not currently accessible in the game Display Name: Hollywood Hotel Description in Build Menu: Unlock Super Rare Characters Category: Unique MORE Description: The Hollywood Hotel is where some of the biggest celebrities from cinema can be recreated using a mixture of science, magic and love. Motto: IT'S SHOWTIME Multiplier: 4x Working Time: 5 min Workers: 4 Jobs: SUPER RARE 1, SUPER RARE 2, SUPER RARE 3, SUPER RARE 4 Display Name: Money Mansion Description in Build Menu: Unlock Super Rare Characters Category: Unique MORE Description: The people who live here make up Utopia's 1 percent. They get paid just for sitting at home. Well some of them work from home. Motto: KA-CHING Multiplier: 4x Working Time: 5 min Workers: 4 Jobs: SUPER RARE 5, SUPER RARE 6, SUPER RARE 7, SUPER RARE 8 So now your probably wondering who works in those unused buildings, well read below to find out: Spoiler Once again, I'll start with an example of a job already in the game, the Police Officer. One thing to note, is that every job has a "Preferred Name" for both a male and female, these names will be used for the first male and first female clone that you create for that job. All subsequent males and females will then be given a random first name and a chosen last name for that job. So for the Police Officer job, my first male Police Officer's name is Barry Cade, but my other 2 male Police Officer's are named Omar McClaine and Mohamed McClaine. Had I made a female Police Officer she would have been named Macy Cannister. Job: Police Officer Production Rate: 1 First Female's Name: Macy Cannister First Male's Name: Barry Cade Last Name: McClaine Group: Law Quote: IF YOU RUN, YOU WILL ONLY GO TO JAIL TIRED Workplaces: Police Station, Bank, Court Now here are the 8 unused jobs that work in those 2 unused buildings above. All of these "jobs" seem to be based on celebrities. Note that for some reason their job titles are named SUPER RARE 1-8, and their "Preferred Names" are actually their job titles. Also, their chosen last name gives a hint as to who they are an imitation of. They are all in the Special category as well, that is the same category that the Dreamer, Explorer, Salesman, Mutant, and Romantic are in. Yet these Special clones have workplaces unlike the 5 already in the Special category. Now that all that explanation is out of the way, here they are: Job: SUPER RARE 1 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Star Commander First Male's Name: Star Commander Last Name: Picard Group: Special Quote: MAKE IT SO Workplaces: Hollywood Hotel Job: SUPER RARE 2 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Ex Marine First Male's Name: Ex Marine Last Name: Worthing Group: Special Quote: LET'S DANCE WITH THE WOLVES Workplaces: Hollywood Hotel Job: SUPER RARE 3 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Robot Police First Male's Name: Robot Police Last Name: Murphy Group: Special Quote: YOU'RE COMING WITH ME Workplaces: Hollywood Hotel Job: SUPER RARE 4 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Chosen One First Male's Name: Chosen One Last Name: Anderson Group: Special Quote: THERE IS NO MOON Workplaces: Hollywood Hotel Job: SUPER RARE 5 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Soccer Star First Male's Name: Soccer Star Last Name: Best Group: Special Quote: DOWNLOAD DICE SOCCER TODAY! FREE! Workplaces: Money Mansion Job: SUPER RARE 6 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: GrandPrix Driver First Male's Name: GrandPrix Driver Last Name: Hamilton Group: Special Quote: ARE WE THERE YET Workplaces: Money Mansion Job: SUPER RARE 7 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Pop King First Male's Name: Pop King Last Name: Jackson Group: Special Quote: IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT COLOR YOU ARE Workplaces: Money Mansion Job: SUPER RARE 8 Production Rate: 4 First Female's Name: Tech Visionary First Male's Name: Tech Visionary Last Name: Jobs Group: Special Quote: STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOOLISH Workplaces: Money Mansion
Well that was all very interesting, don't really think you needed to post the unreleased features as that just kind of undercuts the developers ability to surprise us but all the info about how the hearts and news ticker would have been unlocked is really interesting and don't know why they didn't include it in the first release, half of the wonder of the game is finding buildings that actually have a purpose and it seems odd to detract from the number of buildings with special purpose.
I'm too afraid to continue splicing until astro houses are either added to the game or confirmed permanently non-existent (or a way to demolish clones is added). Now I just tap trees and buildings. Having OCD sucks, lol... @TRB4: Spoiler Do you see anything in the game files related to a Coin limit? There are some games that make numbers go negative after 2,147,483,647 and I just want to know if it's safe to get that many Coins in Pixel People (or I'll just dump them into the Gene Pool just to be safe). Also, does Church donation land count towards the 500 land limit? No, I'm not that far in the game yet, but might as well ask because I'm trying to min-max my town and one false move makes me tempted to restart... In fact, I'm planning to restart to reduce the number of Rocky Mansions from 4 to 2, but that also means I'll have to grind for Utopium once again and get most of my Coins to expand from currency exchange. EDIT: My 1st post here and it's post #1111, hooray! EDIT2: I got 3u from trees TWICE IN A ROW!! Hooray! I wonder how the daily limit for trees work though, it doesn't seem to be based on a "every 24 hours" basis and doesn't reset at 12AM (or any other point in the day) either. And is it possible to get 3u when you're at 24, making the theoretical daily maximum 27?
So in other words, you dislike the parts of the game that require you to put a slight bit of effort in. I like these features. it makes me feel like I'm actually doing something. And finding out the combinations is a puzzle that's key to the game!
He isn't talking about new jobs. He's talking about known jobs, the ones he has already spliced. eg you have one Miner, and you need a second to fill up a second building - the only way to find the combination again is to go through all your buildings to find the first Miner, or to go through the list of clones and hope you stumble upon the Miner (it doesn't scroll, and isn't labled).
One good idea to get the animals collecting a little more interesting: To be able to trade animals between us (the way you can gift plane parts in Pocket Planes). That maybe a bit difficult to program from scratch though Or maybe integrate them in the splicing business? As if you don't have the zebra you can't splice an inmate Because as of now, I really don't see any point in trying to finish the animals boards. Pure luck and no interactions. I just gather them but don't give a damn about them.
suggestions I'm enjoying this game! At first, I was a bit daunted by the skyrocketing land expansion costs, but on reflection have noticed them to increase more-or-less in proportion to your earning potential in the game, so now think it's pretty well planned. And, let's face it, a game with objectives that are easily earned is...well, just boring. I also have not received the Romantic gene with the new update. I had my space city more-or-less completed with a full population of available jobs created finishing with the Centaur (two centaurs, actually). I also had used research to reduce the number of hearts needed for the free surprise down to the minimum of 5 hearts before the update. Not too worried about the Romantic update though, I'm sure it will be fixed in time, and I can wait. That said, I have a few thoughts/suggestions for the game: 1. Involve the animals a bit more. It'd be very cool if there was an update with an opportunity to earn an animal splicer that would let us combine some animal species into new, rare species. I'd like to see these new species come with a block of habitat, perhaps a snow leopard that comes with/requires a 3x3 block of snowy mountainous habitat, or a red panda that requires a large bamboo forest. 2. Expand on the space theme. I feel the space theme is a bit under-developed in this game. I mean, space stuff is cool, so why are the buildings all so normal looking? I was kind of expecting little space domes over the buildings or a more spacey-modular look to them. Too late for that now, I suppose, but it'd be cool if the game added in many more space-related forms of real estate and jobs. I envision cool new space ports and military vessels. The space dimension also allows for a ton of new splices, of you start to breed clones with space alien genes to create new alien species. Perhaps new alien species could come with a chance to start a new satellite "city" with it's own buildings/jobs. 3. Extend the daily play reward. As is, I mostly play to get my 25 limit of utopium from the forests. I know I can add to that with the heart surprises, but gathering 5 just doesn't keep me playing for long after I have harvested my daily 25 from the forest. So, it'd be nice to either offer some way to earn enough research to further reduce the hearts down to maybe 3, or...increase the monetary reward from the forests once the utopium runs out. I've noticed that the +10 coin "rewards" (those feel more like penalties) from the forest seem to begin once the daily 25 yield of utopium from the trees is reached. It seems like the game is substituting what would have been a +1 utopium as a +10 coin. So, when I start seeing +10 coins, I know I'm out of forest utopiums for the next 23 hours or so (usually takes me about an hour of playing to get my daily 25) that's my cue to wrap things up for the day. Assuming the developers want us to keep playing off and on, they might recode that +10 reward as maybe +10,000 coins, or better yet, +100,000. 4. Make coins meaningful in late game. Once you've expanded to 200 squares or so, you're basically just using the legal loophole to expand and have very little use for the millions of coins you're accumulating. This, in turn, becomes an incentive to leave your buildings un-refreshed. It all gives the game more of a maintenance feel, which is generally when most people decide to stop playing. Why not allow things to be unlocked at high dollar amounts? Maybe it's a space monorail system that works like the roads and canals, without costing land space? 5. More active transportation. This may be more work for the developers than it's worth, but it'd be very cool to see vehicles moving on the roads, or space boats in the canals (or space trains on the space monorails?), maybe linked with the appropriate for of transportation depots that you'd have to plop. Anyway, just some thoughts.
Alright, let's answer your questions the best I can. Spoiler I didn't see anything related to a max coin limit. That doesn't mean that there isn't one, just that if there is, I didn't find it. As far as the land limit goes, I would assume that it would only affect level up expansion, and therefore the Astro Church should be able to provide land beyond the 500 from leveling. I can also answer some of the questions you have about trees. I also noticed that the daily limit seems to reset randomly. From what I can tell, it seems to reset at the day reset and 24 hours after you first get utopium from a tree. I tried testing this by increasing the drop rate and amount of utopium that my trees dropped. I replaced the 100c drop with a 5u drop for testing and that allowed me to fill my daily limit very quickly. Here are some of the things I learned: You can tell when you've hit your daily limit, when you've already gotten 25u daily limit from trees you will receive 10c whenever you would have received utopium from a tree. That is the only time trees will produce 10c instead of 100c or 1000c, so pay attention. As to your question about surpassing the daily limit by getting 3u when you already have 24u from trees, well it won't work. In my testing, my first 3 trees gave me +5u, then my fourth tree gave me +1u, then my fifth tree gave me +5u again, so far I'm at 21u, but my sixth tree gave me +10c instead of +5u. So I changed the common drop from +5u to +1u and the next 4 trees all dropped +1u. So as you ca see, the game will replace any utopium that exceeds 25u in a day with a lousy 10c. I have since changed my tree drops back to default values, as it makes the game more fun not to cheat.
OMG, thank you. That explains why I sometimes get some 10c when I haven't reached the limit. I was trying to test it the other day when I suddenly got 10c, and then got 1u again and I was like, wth? Now I know what happened. Thank you.
Almost completed this I'm at 150/155 but after I'm done can I still level up and set up trees and houses and splice? I still got to set up more clones in buissnesses
I have an idea on how to force the new gene from the update to those who did not receive it, but it requires iFile, which requires a Jailbreak. If anyone would be interested in trying this idea out please PM me for details. EDIT: I have had one person try my idea and they told me that it didn't work. But if you are still interested in the instructions to try it yourself, just PM me. Also, I am not completely sure how the "random" prizes from trees and hearts are determined, but I do know it has something to do with a time variable. Below is what is stated in the game's code regarding tree and heart rewards: Spoiler Instruction: Time variables to be in minutes, which will be converted to seconds in-game. Sum of each reward "Chance" probability should be stacked up to 100. Below are each reward's "Chance" probability: TREE REWARDS 100c = 90 Chance 1000c = 95 Chance 1u = 99.9 Chance 3u = 100 Chance note: There is also a 2nd entry for 3u and an entry for 5u, but both have a Chance of 0. HEART REWARDS 5000c = 28 Chance 50000c = 36 Chance 2u = 45 Chance 5u = 50 Chance Animal = 100 Chance note: There is also an entry for a Job prize with a Chance of 100, but the description for it says - Rare character, out of "Coin/Utopium/Animal/Job". below are the odds for animals ANIMAL TIERS Tier 1 = 50 Chance Tier 2 = 80 Chance Tier 3 = 94 Chance Tier 4 = 100 Chance As far as I can tell, the higher the Chance value, the rarer the reward. I am not sure how the game determines the "time variable" or what the odds of winning each prize are in a percentage.
I can't seem to get the "All My Lovin'" achievement. It's the one to fill all possible hearts at the Research Lab. I've used that lab several times and don't get it. Maybe it has something to do with upgrading the research to have less hearts?
The "All My Lovin'" achievement is for using the Research Lab to reduce the number of hearts that you need to fill on the heart bar. Perhaps you are confusing it with the Gene Pool where you can pay coins to instantly fill all hearts for a quick surprise. There are achievements for both buildings, "Love Bug" and "All My Lovin'" are for reducing hearts at the Research Lab, and "Gene-ius" and "Just Playin' Cupid" are for using the accelerated research at the Gene Pool.
Probably mentioned a dozens times before. I am new to this game and finding the expansioncosts a bit extreme. How am I suppose to earn 12milj. coins without being 24/7 playing this game? For as far I have experienced the game doesn't progresses when the app is not opened. Also the game requires manual refreshing the buildings, or whatever it's callend. Thkz.
Try to shift some focus off of trying to create unique/new professions. Click around on your buildings and see what they are missing, and try to fill them. Try to get all the positions filled in a building because you'll earn a lot more money.
