Very interesting, I hadn't thought of looking at the housing cost this way. You leave coins out of the equation to only consider the U buying of an expansion, which makes sense at later levels. Disregard also the coin cost of housing, which is also irrelevant past a certain point. It indeed leaves the different housing close in term of U cost per Clone. The Shiny Towers are slightly better at 1.67U/clone , then the Atomic Cottage at 1.75U/C and the first residential buildings are at 2U/Clone. The difference is not huge as you can see. The issue is that the bigger your expansion, the more useless your coins become, so the advantage remains with the Shiny Tower I guess. Formula being : (U expansion Cost + Residencial U cost) / Housing capacity of the residential buildings So for Rocky Mansions it is (40+0)/(10*2)=2 For Shiny Tower : (40+10*6)/(10*6)=1.67 This doesn't look good in text format though. Res. / Cap./Land/Ucost/U Expansion/Land/U res cost/ Total U cost/Housing/ Ucost per Clone Rocky 2 1 0 40 10 0 40 20 2,00 terrace 4 2 0 40 10 0 40 20 2,00 solar 6 3 0 40 10 0 40 20 2,00 atomic 4 1 3 40 10 30 70 40 1,75 heavenly 6 2 3 40 10 15 55 30 1,83 shinyT. 6 1 6 40 10 60 100 60 1,67
A couple of buildings can be upgraded to an 8+ hours cycle. I'm currently running three fully staffed buildings as my least time-consuming income (University, Circus and Stadium). On an 8 hour cycle they net 3,110,400, at three cycles per 24hrs thats 9,331,200 per day. Currently at lvl 180 the next expansion costs 75,000,000, so it still takes a week to collect the money.
Nice stats As the upgrade cost of a building is flat, it's way better to upgrade the higher working time buildings instead of the shorter but higher cps. It's worth noting that the doubling time IAP doubles the basic working time of each building. So it basically also doubles each upgrade working time. The best IAP you can purchase in this game by far. I guess the rule of thumb to look at the best buildings to upgrade is (cps) * (working time in hours) My personal best of fully staffed with bank bonus and doubling time IAP are : the university with 20cps and 2 hours working time (20*2=40) Forensics 12cps, 3h (36) Farm is 8cps and 4h (32)
Damn you I had been avoiding avoiding avoiding purchasing that IAP just because I am stubborn, but between the fact that I am really enjoying this game and they deserve at least my dollar, and your post, I caved and just bought the IAP. Thanks a lot
lol We can't always complain about bad freemiums with extorsionist models if we don't reward the guys that propose fair options as IAP for a free fun game I guess Don't leave your BH starving though lol
Yeah I just got Tech Support so went and upgraded a few of the longer buildings to even longer. And a few of the high coin to give me a little bit of padding for refreshes (or whatever hitting the lightning is called). Only been a little bit since I had the Tech Support so I need to really look at this a little differently now. That's what I so enjoy about this game - you progressively start unlocking things and can change your game at all times. And I might have opened Tech Support really late but others might not have some of the things I do so there is no set progression. Really nicely done devs. Very good game!
Lots of complaints that this is just another freemium, but I disagree. I think this one is fairly well done (depth of gameplay aside) and the premium currency is given fairly. So yeah, they deserved my support.
I think that the pricing of the "Accelerated Research" needs to be looked at. Currently my Accelerated Research costs 2,000,000 coins, but I already have a heart reduction of 3, so I only need 8 hearts per bonus. It takes roughly 30 seconds per heart to collect hearts, so I get a bonus every 4 minutes or so. Where as it takes me over 30 minutes (1029 CPS) to earn 2,000,000 coins. I would be able to collect enough hearts in that time to earn almost 8 bonuses. I wouldn't even care except that there is an achievement tied to this "feature", Just Playin' Cupid - Get 100 Quick Surprises from the gene pool. It will cost me almost a quarter of a billion coins to get that achievement. I just think that the pricing is too high, or at the very least should be reduced based on how much research you've done at the Research Lab.
Ah, we've balanced the Accelerated Research for the late game where the CPS is higher. But also keep in mind that the 4minutes per heart vs 30minutes comparison is slightly more difficult as its 4 minutes of full 100% engagement (you'll need to press and hold the hearts all the way through and search for them) vs something that passively collects in the background while you are doing other things. I believe the cap is at 2,000,000 coins currently, and we think thats reasonable.
This in my mind, coupled with the Nimblebit games, are the ones that do freemium right. There is a great core game that doesn't involve buying the IAP but it is there for the impatient. Plenty of avenues to collect it on your own, and if it takes time, it takes time! There is no such thing a free lunch as they say.
The one bit of min-maxing I decided to engage in yesterday was to look at building's base time and base multipliers, and to staff/create clones to those buildings with the highest "adjusted time up" as they provide the most for your click. And the what should be considered obligatory "double time" IAP doubles that base time. Then consider that a single 3u investment outright doubles that base time. It's almost trivial to get a high earning building like the stadium building up to 8 hours or longer. Long term, this game is not going to require any more of your micro management than any other "ville" game, it's just going to require your *thought* on how to get there and, yes, your whole, precious dollar, and that seems to be the fundamental conundrum here: The more gamer gamers tend towards seeing too much pointless fluff, the more casual gamers see too much difficulty because the game requires you to think about the systems that underpin the mechanics, and cheapskates can't even stomach the idea that maybe a little of their money would grease the machine to get it moving (critiquing the mechanics absent the double time IAP is like critiquing a lite version of a game as if it were the full version). I'm not sure there is an optimal solution that is going to balance the tight rope any better than they came out of the gate with, a large part of why I really enjoy this. I like that it's day 5 and I actually have to think about how I'm going to advance. The game is about building Utopia, it was never going to be as easy building a happy street
Let me start by saying there are some things about this game I really like. Splicing together the genes and seeing what you come up with is a lot of fun. And the art is gorgeous. But I have a problem with the ridiculously high price of land in the latter part of the game. The problem is that it completely destroys the city-building aspect of the game. Building your own pixel-perfect sprawling metropolis could be a lot of fun. Once you unlock the Building Firm you can build multiple copies of a building, so you could conceivably go wild building a huge city. But given the price of land, nobody is ever going to build more than one of anything. At the beginning of the game when land was cheap I built a bunch of decor. But at this point I'm not going to build another bit and I'm even thinking of destroying the stuff I've already built to reclaim the land. Every other freemium building sim out there encourages you to spend money by making it take a long time to build things, but none of them actively discourage you from building more stuff in the way this game does. That is what I find so very annoying about it. Which is a pity, because the first part of the game is a lot of fun.
Quick question about the $.99 double-time in-app purchase. I bought this on my iPad, but when my iCloud data transfers over to my iPhone the IAP goes away. I clicked on the "buy" again (on my phone), but I'm afraid to confirm because I am not sure if I will be charged again or if it will recognize that I already bought the IAP. Does anyone know if the double-time IAP transfers from device to device?
And that will help how? Decor reduces the cost of expansions, forests yield utopium. I build one decor and one forest *every* expansion, not doing so would clearly be kind of dumb. A single 3 spirit decoration is as good as keeping a 3cps clone up and running constantly for over 11 days for a single one of these later game expansion costs. Just how much dumber does the game need to be for people?
You won't if its the same iTunes account you are using. Alternatively, go to options in the townhall and tap on "restore purchases".
Perfect. Thanks very much. I literally never buy IAP's but this game is strangely addicting and I didn't mind paying the $.99 for it.
Since i almost have all residents (135/150) and probably also all buildings, it's time to start planning what i should rebuild after that to get the most coins value considering everything like land needed, residents needed, time that it puts out coins,... It would be sweet if somebody made like a spreadsheet of this or just sum up the best buildings to rebuild. Btw, ive just hit the 1250 CPS mark
Anyone else doing spreadsheets like this to try to estimate whether new potential splices will create a needed job? http://screencast.com/t/0L9kBD40DM I know the spoilers are out there with all the jobs in them; I'm avoiding them to try to keep it fun; I spoiled the fun earlier while trying to find how to create an accountant Overall, great job devs, splicing is lots of fun; I'm running into the later expensive stuff; got 141/150 land, 725 cpu, 85 jobs, next expansion is 37 million; good tips here on different ways to maximize production; I'm afraid I bought too many low level houses as well; eagerly looking forward to a way to upgrade them
I'm at the same point 149/150 but my next expansion is at 21.4 million with a 46.5% discount from decor I guess it maybe worth it to invest in the decora that give you 2 or 3 spirit to improve your discount. Also an easy tip for those who buy expansion as soon as they have the money (I know I do): fill all your empty land with 10000 coins decor that give a 0.5% discount, it's worth it. And after you bought your expansion, just delete them, 10k coins loss is nothing compared to the discount you get
