After a few hours playing it seems like a decent game worth some more time invested. However gauled at having spent 10 of the in game currency on reducing the number of hearts needed to get the special gift only for it to go through a series of reloads from iCloud. End result, no reduction in hearts occurred, lost 10 in game currency, and the next level is 20 currency to reduce the hearts to 9, despite the fact I'm still on 11, and I really can't trust the purchasing system now :(

:/ this is what I'm afraid of. I never use iCloud so I don't know if that might happen to me

well there are games that work well with iCloud syncing. I have no problems with Fifa 13, Arc Squadron, Bastion and Scribblenauts for example.

Hope the devs of this game can sort it out.

Lambdamu or Ivan@LambdaMu - Are there any plans to add a social aspect to this game (i.e. visiting friends, job re-locations to friend's planet/land, gifting utopium to friends etc.)?

I'm addicted to this game a lot and just barely started yesterday. My apologies if this question or comment has been asked. I tried to search using keywords like social/friends/visit and only came across one other member 'suggesting' the idea of visiting friends.

    :)

Ah, LambdaMu may be able to answer that better.

As for the iCloud issues you guys are facing, the main problem we're having with Pixel People is that, unlike many other single player games, we require that the game saves itself every 30 seconds or so. That alone isn't a problem. but couple that with the requirement for the save game to be uploaded to the Cloud every 30 seconds, several problems occur:

    1) Battery drain: Your device keeps trying to send a 'queued' save game to the Cloud. Especially worrying if it fails because the device keeps trying over and over and over. An iDevice seems to turbo-burn its battery when trying to send iCloud data.
    2) Cloud Confusion: Sometimes, (especially when the internet is bad), the save game file gets "stuck" on the device. Causing sync failures. And sometimes, the failures don't get cleared up until after a few hours.

We're not sure what to do yet, but we definitely are exploring options to improve the iCloud experience.

    Great game.
Addicting and all (73/150 so far)

    Just one thing:

    FIX.
    THE.
    BATTERY.
    DRAINAGE.

    That is all.

Keep up the good work devs.

Thanks, I will await his response. Of course, no response is necessary especially if he doesn't want to answer that question at the moment or at all...;)

I'm going to take this as a round about way of stating: if you don't play on more than one device, turn off the iCloud syncing. It will reduce the risk to your data, save on your battery, and will potentially improve the experience for those who do need it.

    Greetings Mayor!

Utopia Corp. in considering a host of future options that will enhance your governmental experience. As each day of the reconstruction exercise goes by, we find the feedback and responses from our Mayors overwhelming, yet encouraging.

We realize that you are eager to explore beyond your own rock and see how other Mayors are faring in their experiments. However, you must understand the prime priority of the Utopia Project was and remains to be the preservation of humanity; and until the final experiment was rolled out, we were unsure if our reproduction would be successful. And even rebuilding civilisation were to work, we made sure there was adequate redundancy (hence so many Mayors), and that each of these experiments needed to be conducted in isolation so that there would be no chance of recontamination. Humanity could not afford another disaster.

That said, it seems that progress has been steady, and the building blocks of a working society are being built as planned, at various sites across the cosmos. If research proceeds on schedule, and resources no longer need to be dedicated to individual survival, technology for intergalactic travel and communication might very well be discovered soon. For now, we will have to settle for sharing news of our progress into the endless ether, in the hope that someone is listening to our transmissions, and may benefit from our knowledge.

    Happy Splicing!

This is exactly how I feel.. The only reason I spent a few hours playing this is because of the great pixel graphics and nice overall package, but eventually I just couldn't shake the feeling that this is a complete waste of time since there's no depth, variety or challenge to the gameplay at all. It quickly becomes completely tedious with no real payoff.

It's a 'Ville game, running under the tried-and-true formula of your reward is the ability to unlock the next person or building, with the never-ending carrot-and-stick that doesn't really lead anywhere.

I know that it has no real "purpose" and the ultimate objective is to hope you'll spend money to speed up the process, but I can still enjoy the ride for what it is.

Truth be told, it's a lot more forgiving than most of the freemium games - you can start with a free half-million coins if you feel so inclined, and the gradual progression in time requirements for new buildings and clones (based off of quantity, not specific buildings) can let you play fairly continually for the first few hours.

Some players may burn out during that time or feel that they've seen all that the game has to offer. Which is fine.

They could have added more depth to the splicing by adding a third element, or forced you to do them all by trial-and-error, spending several minutes on each attempt only to discover that it had no payoff. But I'm not sure if that second option would add more "depth" to the gameplay; if anything, it'd encourage everyone to find a Splice FAQ and the end result would be the same as having that pink confirmation light.

Idk about you guys, but I'm not seeing a paywall. You probably made a bad investment in the beginning.

You should have a decent amount of trees, for craploads of u's. and decor. Currently have 30% off of my expansion price and it's the exact same price I paid for my last expansion.

I did mention this a few pages back, but I guess this thread's mostly about missing features and the game being broken. Someone should really make a strategy discussion thread in the discussions section, imo

    Game-breaking Bug

Reposting this hopefully LambdaMu or Ivan@LambdaMu can respond

I was loving the game yesterday and got up to about 40 professions unlocked, but then I came back to the game after a break and loaded from the title screen and the town is completely gone! It shows 0 professions and i cant do anything at all. I've tried deleting the app and reinstalling, and i deleted the cloud data on my phone (I think), but I still have the same problem. Hopefully one of you guys can help

I've attached the pic of the problem too

I admit I enjoy this genre of gaming, but this app seems to have been released a bit prematurely - not sure I've played one quite so buggy. Constantly losing sight of my city; clicking on buildings with no response; iCloud messages popping up in succession; still unable to get syncing to work between iPhone/iPad, etc. Frustrating and I'll wait to support the devs with any IAP until an update is released.

Although somehow things start working again after awhile and when it does, fairly entertaining. Love all the new jobs/buildings to discover, etc. Love the ability to move & redesign, paint, etc. I'd be real curious to see how the devs would be able to expand though, as I can't imagine any more possibilities.

    Well...
There are certain buildings that if you tap them directly there is a button near the bottom on the default tab. The one you are looking for is the Research Lab (assuming you've unlocked it) which has a large satellite dish on the roof. From what I've seen only a few buildings have these buttons and each one does something different. Tap around all the buildings, see what you can find ;)

Yeah, I've been feeling that too, I don't get the purpose of what I'm doing here, it feels pointless, just ticking boxes. There's no difficulty, no competition, and no challenge. And the rewards from hearts... they're largely just annoying. 5k credits. Gee thanks, I have a million already and am making money hand over fist. All the rewards are actually frustrating because the only one you really want is the paid currency. And what are pets for exactly? Like the gameplay they just seem pointless. Randomly collecting things for collecting thing's sake is not fun, they need to have a purpose (though maybe I've missed it so far).

Sorry, that turned into a bit of a rant. There's almost a good game here, everything just needs a purpose.

For a freemium game, it does not require money. I have around 70 people unlocked and have not spent any money, although they do have a 99 cent purchase to double all time of production. The game is fun but not to in depth. I would love to see a multi player aspect. If you enjoy town building then you will enjoy it. The game is not for those looking for a sim city. It is good if you check in on it a few times a day.
