Just wanted to drop in to implore Ivan: Whatever you plan to add to Pixel People in the future, please never ever turn into the whatever Godzilab are now. The've pretty ruined their Happy Street now with an update that requires a connected Fabebook acount and the constant nagging of friends on there to get access to new stuff and even some old features were changed for that. Simply terrible and a huge disappointment, I very much hope Lambda-Mu doesn't ever do things like this to us.
Key point missing here is the Church. AFAIK a city of any level can be infinitely large, provided you are able to spend the u on the land. (Limited by coding, obviously.) So in the very long term it's obviously always going to be better to have the Casino cost 1/20th as much.
Ha, I am actually far more in favor of Happy Street's current meta design than where Pixel People went with the last update. Finally, after not even having the motivation to log into PP for more than 2 weeks, decided to do what my wife did 2 weeks ago and just look up the secret jobs online so I can move on. People suggested this "feature" some time ago and I countered then that it was a pointless exercise: The permutations to find secret jobs are far too many to be remotely fun for more than a teeny, tiny slice of the OCD crowd. However, with one million monkeys BFIing their way to discovering them, they soon are, posted online, and nearly everyone who does unlock them does so by looking the solutions up. AKA, a lot of wasted development time for a feature that may as well have never been there at all. I will still have to mindlessly grind for several days if I ever want to unlock the remaining gene since the game's design has been shifted far away from the casual front it once had to favor the people who are rearranging citizens to maximize golden hearts, but it is what it is. Unfortunately, the horse is out of the barn and I'm not sure there is any fixing this game at this point. It's lost any semblance of quick fire fun or building, and is devolving into a series of game mechanic masturbation fests to keep the OCD crowd busy, but boring and/or frustrating the rest of the players. Happy Street may still be of low complexity button pushing, but it's never lost its way. What you complain about has been there since the beginning. I linked Happy Street to FB over 6 months ago, not a big deal, not even worth complaining about as it makes you sound like an old guy screaming at the kids to get off your lawn. And the "friend nagging", also, been there since the friends hotel that's been there since, if not the very beginning, damn close to the very beginning.
There is definitely a pattern. All of my 74 residences have one couple that produces a golden heart. Granted, I started planning from the beginning so it was easier. But I did have to do a lot of shifting later in the game as new jobs were unlocked. Now I don't know the exact pattern, but I do know it is not random (as has been suggested by Ivan in previous posts). So if someone returns to a given slot in a residence one time, he will do it every time until that slot is filled. I think that the residences are ordered in a database and they are filled in that order. They always fill from top to bottom / left to right. The key is planning out as many golden heart combinations as you can, so you reduce the churn in the hotel.
No true: Sure, nagging Game Center friends has been instrumental for a long time, especially with the stupidly high requirements set for leveling up the museum. But that's was GC mostly is for. FB on the other hand has many uses and I certainly don't want to pollute anyone's timeline with annoying requests - which seems necessary with the new rules set up now. If you enjoy getting klots of noise or annoying others, fine, but shove your condescening old guy crap up somewhere. And I never said Pixel People was perfect, and yes, the mstery jobs aren't that much fun, but at least I can solve them without frequently bothering others for weeks or months, so there's that.
I am really getting annoyed here, Ivan: my hotel is blocked with "clones of the same mechanic" for longer than a month now, which makes the game MUCH more difficult and less fun... As I remember you wrote you had submitted TWO updates prior to GDC end of March. One came out weeks ago, the 2nd (1.41) is at Apple for almost 1,5 months? I don't really understand the problem, as many many games out there are frequently updated and it always seems to be around1-2 weeks between submission and release, never longer. Are you booking the slow line or what? Anyway, hotfix would have been great. Suffering from this bug for more than a month is really annoying. Cheers Rosso
btw: how exactly will I be able to get rid of those clones? Will there be a "delete" button for characters or how will it work? Thanks
Those two patches were 1.3 and 1.4. IIRC, 1.41 was put in 16 days ago today. Which means that if it isn't out by tomorrow, my prediction will have been wrong.
I suggested to someone on this forum that they simply look online if they are incapable of deciphering the secret jobs. Trying 20,000 permutations is obviously no fun but with thought the possible permutations are reduced to a manageable amount. My seven year old got 2 of them before I did. It was just a case after getting a few, of figuring out Lamda Mu's reasoning, typically a relevant trade+ an ability solved the mystery jobs. I do agree that the early game was more fun since rewards were constantly available with moderate effort implementing a Level up game, but there was little challenge unless you optimised to save time. I applaud the developers for adding another element to the game and look forward to finding out how the story develops in future updates.
It would be great to have some way to know which residence a person resides in. Currently, I built a spreadsheet that tracks the location of all my folks. Most people aren't this OCD. Maybe if you click on a person in a building, it will highlight the residence where they live.
Here's an idea HOME ADDRESSES. We have them in the real world for a reason, why not in Utopia. They don't have to be as elaborate as real addresses, in fact they don't even need a street name. Just something simple like Rocky Mansion 1, Rocky Mansion 2, etc. or even just RM1, RM2, etc. or just let use name our own homes. Pocket Planes allows you to use up to 5 characters to name your planes, why not provide a similar option? EDIT: You could even make this a "Feature" that is unlocked via the Post Office.
Great idea. This is one of the things I like best about Pixel People--features are associated with buildings related to that function. You unlock them as you progress in the game. So on that note, I had an idea this morning for a solution to the "plaza problem" (where many of us have dozens of excess plazas from casino spins). Why not add a Recycling Center where you can get some utopium or coins back from decor, buildings, trees and paths that you want to delete? Perhaps 10% of it's original value might be appropriate? It could be staffed by the Tree Hugger, Hazma person, etc.
just lost all progress and i was real close to completing a lot of the game :/ to add insult to injury, just spent $8 last night on this game. the app would crash when i tried to enter some special buildings, so i uninstalled the app (wrongfully) thinking the game would restore from icloud. i was wrong! disappointed
Yeah, iCloud is disabled in pixel People unfortunately But if you have a recent whole device save (via iTunes or iCloud), you may restore it and get your PP save back. I use the daily iCloud save and do one every month on my laptop.
Brilliant!! Still, would love some way to have forfeited plazas and maybe even Manors of Speaking be exchangeable for a glass house. I always thought it put folks from the Hotel in the oldest available residence. That's why you have to delete the old atomic cottages, etc. when you remove people from them to upgrade to Shiny towers or they just go right back to their original housing. I have noticed that the astroglass features seem to fill first, even if there are unoccupied shiny towers that have been in the game longer.
