My game now refuses to launch, stuck at launch screen. I can click on the ad bubbles though. :/

I had this problem once. You can try to kill the App and then restart it. Maybe even try to restart your device. But do not uninstall the App or you will lose your game data.

The last resort would be to restore your device to your most recent backup (if you use iCloud auto-backup, you can prevent serious data loss).

    church/casino strategy

Apologies for asking what may have been explained in detail before, but is there a post that someone can point me to that explains the nuts and bolts of the church/casino strategy, including how to delete what I have and relaunch the game while retaining the coin-doubling IAP I purchased the first time around?

I'm ready to start over, mostly because I'm getting pretty bored of tweaking the full city that I have and am ready to do something new. Thanks to Bullseye and others that pioneered that strategy, as it sounds like it'll provide a little different experience. ;)

I'm not sure if there is already a post explaining everything about this alternative strategy, I'll try to sum it up :

    1) To start over :
the easiest way is to have another iDevice (to keep your original city). If you have only one device, you'll have to erase your save file (by uninstalling and reinstalling the game). You can backup your device (via iTunes or iCloud) just before this, but there is no way (that I know of) to extract just a save file from a backup.

    2) Concept of the strategy :
do not upgrade your city beyond level 9, because prices of surprises and casino spins increase exponentially beyond this level. Once you reach level 9, the only way to gain more land is via the Church (8U per land) but you will require a lot less space thanks to the Astroglass residences/decor/trees

    3) Some tips for the early game :
try to focus on building that produce a lot of coins. If you plan to play frequently, the City Square is a good choice for early game. The new event at the farm really helps.
Like I said in a post earlier today, the way to unlock required special genes seems to be linked to the total population of your city : so keep using your clones, even with less attractive jobs. And try to avoid buildings which use 3 or 4 lands.
The most useful special gene is Dreamer.

    4) IAP :
Even though it's not really "fair", you can activate the doubling IAP right from the start of your new game, by going to the Town Hall and using the "Restore IAP" button. It will only work if the device you use for this strategy is linked to the same iTunes account used to buy the IAP in your first game.

    I Hope that helps

Has anyone tried using iExplorer to download the save file?

    Great summary.

The main goal at the beginning is to conserve land and fill your buildings. This is different than how I played my original game where I tried to unlock everything as fast as possible

If you really want a challenge, then try to make all your residences set up for golden hearts.

I also planned which professions to create very carefully. I started by trying to find the fastest path to the Animal Shelter.

You get your first special gene pretty early in the game. I would delete and start over if it is Explorer.

Thank you very much jarboo and bullseye! I'm not really worried about losing the old city, so will just uninstall/reinstall. Guess I was hoping to be able to keep the production time IAP from the enterprise building, so guess we'll see if that is something I can reinstate? Thought there was a way to restore that, but ready to make a fresh start either way, as I am looking for a new challenge.

Yes, I will definitely set up gold heart houses, as much as possible. Wish that feature somehow increased your chances for astroglass features.

My town is endgame, I care only about making it pretty at this point. Many users on here would consider it ridiculous, wasteful etc (125 trees) but I've got plenty in the bank and just want it to look nice as I wait for more to do.

I've gotten to the point where any more MOS will look pretty wonky- but I could definitely use some more PH (and I don't have even ONE GH!)

Also my spirit is beyond maxed so having all these f'n statues is getting out of hand. But why would I delete them? They take up no land. Would love to be able to trade them in or sell them.

So, I'm able to get the Astrochurch while at level 1 - I'll have to delete a decor and forest patch to do it, but could. Is there an advantage to staying at level 1 for the whole game, or does it not matter much if you level up to level 9?

Part of me likes the notion of never moving on to level 2, but that's probably irrational.

BTW, all of my houses generate gold hearts, and currently, my forests are overrun with red pandas, the first critter I got from a surprise (followed up by a bald eagle, harp seal and bull).

Another poster here is trying to stay at Level 1 the whole game. It is possible, but would take a lot of patience and u (for the Astro Church).

His rationale was that while levels 1 -9 are the same today, that could be changed at some point in the future.

Ah, I suppose there's logic there. I may just hang with it for the novelty, and maybe that will be an added benefit. Thanks!

I would carefully plan out what buildings are absolutely necessary to put you in a position to get the Casino. The PP Wiki is helpful here.

Then I would make sure that all those buildings are fully staffed to up your total population (to get new special genes) and to maximize cps.

Let's be fair. That is my rationalization. I think my real reasonn is that I am insane. (Currently 39/39 and 22 clones while still level 1)

I'm hoping my next special is bureaucrat. If it is explorer, my head may pop.

Yep, the short path to the Casino is my goal, thanks.

Hahaha...good luck. The special genes are really luck of the draw, huh?

That's me. I think my main motivation is not so much that levels will rebalance in the future, but just the challenge of trying to complete the game without ever levelling up. I completed the main game so quickly, and even the content updates only take a day or two to finish, that I don't mind a second game like this.

The trick is that you must get the Dreamer gene first, so that you can get to the Church in your initial land allotment. I'm still waiting for the second gene (I think I have 24 or 26 people now) and I pray it's the Bureaucrat so that I can get the Utopia HQ (which will lead to the Casino).

This game is all about utopium collection at this point (much more important now than maxing CPS) and is very slow. I was careful to get enough trees at the start (I think I have 9) so that it is possible to get 25u each day. You need to save for a couple of days if you need to build a 4 square building! As I said, very slow.

But I'm already about 90% complete for animal collection while still at level 1. :)

Yeah, luckily, I got Dreamer at job #5, so was able to stay at Lvl 1. Once I got the church I spent my 35 or so u on 4 land expansions and 4 more trees, and plan on that strategy until I'm at around 10 trees.

Doesn't Socialite lead directly to the Casino?

Yes, but you need Utopia HQ to get the Socialite mission.

So it looks like money is capped at 2147m. Not sure if its intentional or not?

Still waiting on the darn tiger for sports star mission. Another mission took my only tiger and been trying numerous spent coins to get one. Can get the smaller cats all the time...but a tiger, nope!! :(
