My thoughts on casual vs hardcore Hi guys, Know there is a lot of commentary around this and had a thought of my own, In a way to make the game easier for casual players how about adding a lost and found building, the idea would be that 1) This building would have a button that becomes active only if you have not opened the game in 8 hours 2) The building would store up a percentage of the coins you could have earned in the last 8 hours if you had been active, say 10-20% 3) Building would up the return rate of u from trees for the next 10 minutes after pressing 4) The building would store a maximum of 18 hours worth of earnings as calculated above 5) You could charge 2$ to activate the button in the first place So hardcore players could earn much more by playing for the 8 hours, casual players would get a coin and u burst when logging on for their 10 minutes.. Obviously the balancing of percentage and amount stored will be left to you Ok, other than that, thank you for a awesome game! Robert
Good suggestion. Some of what you mentioned will be out very soon. Patch should be live in a few hours.
Robert has suggested something in the same vein as what I would suggest. In World of Warcraft (which surely did not originate it) there was (is?) a system where if you were logged out your character gradually became more "rested." When you logged back in, you got double experience until he or she was no longer "rested." The experience boost from rest was never anywhere near the experience you would have gotten had you been playing instead of being logged out, but it helped out when you first logged in. Unfortunately, I think logging in once per hour is more hardcore than casual. However, as I think u is more useful than money, how about combining the two systems? New building: Utopium Extractor (we could put this feature at the mine, but new buildings are more fun). If a Utopium Extractor is in your city, you can get 30 u from trees instead of 25. (Something for hardcore characters to offset the next feature.) You can also activate the storage tanks for $.99 (or free, but why not $.99?) The storage tank will accumulate one u every 90 minutes (16 total per day) but the u it accumulates counts towards the 30 you can get from trees. So a casual player will get substantial u each day just by having the game on their device, but the hardcore player will get much more u. Also, the casual player forgoes the possibility of one of their tree taps yielding 3 u instead of 1. The numbers are just suggestions, and are based on a 24 hour u cycle.
Hey Ivan, while you're around there's something that's been bugging me for a while now; is it planned to have aquatic animals wander around inside waterways instead of forests? XD It's always a bit odd seeing octopi or trout floundering about on land.
haha. i personally think it's cute. and, unfortunately, not at the moment. Wait for the incoming patch! Moving forwards, there will be another one shortly after that will tweak some buffs and add in more options similiar to what you have suggested.
Hey Ivan, thks for all the info. If I remember correctly, the 1.4 update doesn't enhance the animals selection in mission yet? Are you submitting the new patch that has it immediately after this one? And man, it takes forever for Apple to process update now, it's crazy Very interesting to have the insider look of how you try to balance the game. Thks a lot for sharing. Imho, on a business standpoint, it makes more sense for you to focus on casual/new players now. TA hardcore crowd will benefit from your long term success anyway
Just found a shiny tower that looks like this: F F M M F M They're all people I created in 1.3 so I'm sure that they were never moved using the Hotel.
Spoiler The library now has a blank panel under the people, instead of empty space, so I assume a later easter egg appears there. Spoiler I found an egg in the museum. And one at the Park, And one at the Easter Bunny inside the Sheriff's Office. Spoiler Nice tribute to SABRmetrics at the ballpark, love it!
Got the easter bunny! That egg hunt was actually pretty fun. Haha! Spoiler Top rows are in the wanted list. Middle row eggs are found in the jobs. And the last row are found in buildings. Happy hunting!
nice! Spoiler Found most of the Easter Eggs in the Developers List and the 1st Page of Jobs List! Still can't find Eggscape, though.... Found it!
Non-spoilerish Easter Egg hint: View everything you can. If you are missing an egg (as I was) and really frustrated (as I was) you probably forgot to view something (as I did).
Hey Ivan! Wasn't this patch supposed to fix the negative Alsations? Or was that 1.41? Also is it safe to move my mechanic now?
