Winning Astroglass stuff at the Casino Can anyone confirm if it is necessary to "earn the Astroglass residence via the mission before it is possible to win it at the Casino? I have seen multiple reports that you can only win at the casino animals that have been discovered already. Does a similar "rule" exist for residences and plazas?
Nope. Ive recieved plenty astroglass items from the casino without ever having to get them from missions.
Wow, that's some impressive work StevO-J, thanks for compiling that. I have only had multiple gold hearts a couple times, so can't add anything. I'm waiting on the next update to see if it offers any assistance in relocating people from the Hotel to specific slots in unoccupied residences. One of the things I wonder about is the seeming restriction of placing males and females. It seems like the houses HAVE to be filled equally with a male on the left and female on the right, which limits options if you just happened to clone the job that occurs in the beginning of a particular formula with a female, or used two of the same gender to create a particular job. It would be better to start over and strategically splice to give you the right pairs for gold hearts.
I don't think this is true. Most of my houses are like this, but I found at least one where the women are all on the left. Similarly, though most pairs are one of each gender I found at least one male/male pairing in a house. If anything, I would guess that clones arrive in alternating gender, with a female first, so most orderly cities just end up with all females on the left and all males on the right.
Huh, you're right, a more careful look did reveal a house of mine with females on the left and males on the right, though the others I could find all have males on the left. I also recalled reading this passage in the dating agency: "...Utopians are hence housed in pairs in the hope that they might breed and recreate the formula for new life that Utopia Corp. has been desperately seeking." so I just assumed all of the houses had to have male/female gender pairs side-by-side. Guess the genders CAN be switched though, which is the important thing.
I was thinking of working on moving my citizens and I think in order to properly organize and delete unwanted homes ill need 2 hotels. But I can't build another, someone please confirm
I'm beginning to suspect the animal surprises are slightly less than random... Been waiting for a trout to finish one mission for about 3 weeks now and finally gave up yesterday and paid the 100u to get the gene. Since then in about 2 hours play I've got 2 trout suprises.... I didn't massively like the finding animals to get genes part of the upgrade but I could live with it, but very annoyed if things aren't as random as they seem......
I know. I need a lion to finish all the missions. It's been two weeks. Some of the other rare animals come up all the time. I have 5 dodos, 5 squirrels.......
It's human nature to see patterns where there aren't any, because they make things seem to make more sense. Pseudorandom number generator is, for all intents and purposes, random.
Understand what your saying and up until now I would have agreed with you but I've now had another trout arrive. That's none for the few weeks that I've needed it (out of only two animals needed) and then 3 in the space of a day now I don't....
The classic fallacy of mistaking *random* for *evenly distributed*, they're not remotely the same except at the tail end of very large numbers (like tens or hundreds of thousands). When you've rescued 20,000 animals and you're still missing your trout or lion that you need for a mission but have a thousand+ of all the other animals, let's talk about your evidence for skewed gaming odds. If you didn't tend to have clumps of some animals and none of others after just sampling ~1000 or fewer, that is what would indicate it wasn't random.
Sorry, I don't want to come off as rude, but I think this is a perfect example. You're saying, in essence, "I know that usually there isn't a pattern but THIS TIME I'm SURE there's a pattern!" Exactly the described behavior.
Not rude a perfectly fair point....! I'm sure your right but its bloody annoying and I guess I'm trying to make excuses for just blowing 100u and getting just what I needed straight Afterwards.....
Nope, I'm happy to have same-sex couples in my world. I didn't make the rules of this game, though, and those rules seem to require a male-female form of breeding, far as I can tell, so...I guess you should take this up with the game designers?
I was teasing. And you're not reading my posts, my city has a male-male pair in it. Edit: More than one, actually. Which probably means there's a female-female pair somewhere, too. As I've posted before, I think they just arrive alternating by gender and get placed in houses in order. I think that if you move houses around you can change where the "next" spliced clone gets placed and so upset the orderly assignment of housing.
