I think the bug happens when the mission ask for an animal that satisfies two requirements and you only have one but it asks for two and registers the one for both slots. For example, the good boy peach mission asks for Alistian the dog itself plus random dogs. Another example is the king of the jungle which asks for Lions and wild animals.
It's using the Church to expand instead of leveling up, so that the Casino (and Animal Shelter, etc.) remains cheaper.
Yeah, I seriously think that's a problem. I'm only level 11, but already I don't see how leveling up is at all helpful. Not with the increase in cost from the animal shelter and casino. Really, these should either be higher, flat fees, or should scale MUCH MUCH MUCH less than they do. Going from 250k -> 400k+ in two levels is just ridiculous. I actually regret leveling up, as I want to collect the pets. And unless I'm not seeing it yet, Utopium rewards don't scale with level, do they? Also, how on EARTH (heh) are you people getting so much utopium?? You can get 25 a day from trees... another 1-3 or whatever from the mine...every once in a while (no idea how often), from the sheriff's office...where else? I think it's time to start bulldozing my big, early houses, and replacing them with towers and atomic houses and such...but it's going to cost me a fortune in Utopium to do so. Paying $ for U is a slippery slope I can't afford to go on (but again...would pay for static upgrades. My Junk Jack purchases list is nuts, for instance!)
My counter is at 202/210, but I've unlocked all 14 special genes and all of my buildings are full. Glitch? It's driving my OCD crazy.
Utopium never scales to your level, only coins scale. As for where people are getting utopium: 25u a day (well every 16 hours) from trees. 1-2u a day from the Mine You have a chance to win 2 or 5u from the Casino per spin You have a chance to win 1 or 2u (should be 2 or 5u, but it was bugged) from the Animal Shelter per surprise Finally, there are missions that reward utopium, although the only 2 I recommend are "GOOD BOY PEACH" and "BEST LAID PLANTS" which both pay 6u. With all those options, I make about 30-40u a day.
Are you sure that you have the Hitch Hiker gene? You don't get it from a mission, you HAVE to pay 100u at the Gene Pool to get it. There are exactly 8 jobs that can be made once you get the Hitch Hiker gene.
You inspired me to try this method today and if you want I can report my strat and findings so far, Right now im lvl 7 with 100/100 land, about to upgrade to lvl 8 have almost 2mil gold and have 63 U in the beginning i rushed a nursery and filled all my spots with trees, to get the 25 U cap today, then built out from there. currently I have 47 jobs unlocked, dreamer and saleman for specials I chose to rush a full city square, seemed to work got me the saleman gene half way through almost done with tailor the last one atm have 24 houses, 12/9/6/6/4 in the animals, and produce 222 cps atm, almost have city square done so ill have around 400 soon after i get the city square done im going to get the hotel and hope i get the bureaucrat gene soon. saving all my U for church lands atm, not worried about gold thats my stat you have helped me so much and i just wanted to throw out my strat and hope it helps
There seem to be some sort of requirements for getting special genes, although the one you are awarded is random. I am level 6 right now (76/80). I have two special genes (Salesman and Explorer). I am pretty much stuck until I get Dreamer. I think special genes trigger when you hit a certain population or unlock a certain number of jobs. I am thinking of starting over as not having Dreamer is really creating problems.
Well, maybe I spoke to soon. I just got the Bureaucrat. My population is now 38. Someone should see if they get a special gene at 38 as well. An alternative theory is that the genes are awarded after constructing a certain number of buildings.
I got dreamer at 10 genes, and 38 seems around when i got salemen I'm lvl 8 with 48/210, 107/110 land, around 380ish cps EDIT: just looked in my special and i aparently allready have Bureaucrat without it telling me
Interesting. At the moment I only have one special gene; explorer. (not sure when it appeared) My population is 28 of 38max and I have 14 buildings (includes starting ones) I'll keep my eyes open for when the next appears. REALLY hoping the next is dreamer as it's a major roadblock.
Yeah, Dreamer is the key to both the Casino and Astro Church. I will let you know if I get him (and how I got him).
Finally just got my second special gene, salesman. It hit soon after I got to 23 unique jobs (30 total... it may have been a mistake to double up this soon.. I was trying to preserve land count) I'll keep an eye around the 38 mark to see what happens. If it's unique (which I'm thinking) then I may need to start over from scratch.
Now that I have Utopia HQ, I was able to complete the Socialite mission. It cost 5u + animals/etc. Still need Dreamer so I can get Mathematician.
If the genes unlock with unique jobs or unique buildings, then having duplicates is a waste of land. I have duplicates to get my cps up, but I really shouldn't be trying to optimize that now. So maybe I will restart and keep better track of when the genes appear.
38 splices to get a one in three shot at the Bureaucrat? That is really testing my resolve to stay at lvl 1 on my alt-city. I'm at 20 now, but have used up all the shortcuts. Trees are not viable at this small a scale and the heart reward bug really stings.
So apparently lvl 9 increases the cost of the surprize/spin by 16k/32k respectively so stay at 110 land if you want to have 250k instead of 266k so you just pay 16k/32k more every time for 80U worth through the church i guess Just got my 4th random special Gene at 59 genes unlocked, was the explorer. Edit: just finished the Casino, aparently it only adds 16k to the suprize. The spin cost is still 500k hope this helps
Thanks for the details. I started over so I could have the Dreamer as my first gene (got it on 7 unique people / 8 total). Will update on the second special gene. I am trying to get to Animal Shelter on Level 1 to confirm it is the same $250K as 2-9.
