I have had 10 out of 11 gold hearts and gotten a Tier 1 animal. Maybe it increasing the odds of getting a higher tier animal, but you can still get lower ones (as evidenced).
Very sorry for these newb questions, but thread searching isn't working right now for some reason. 1) How do you unlock tech support? 2) Is there a wiki or strategy guide out there somewhere? Thanks!
Ivan: Thanks for the list. It's great to see a dev active and listening to the community feedback. That's me. I generally play about 10 minutes in the evening, while exercising (great treadmill game!), and sometimes check in for a minute in the morning. With the amount of time I play in a given day, I typically get 1-2 U over the course of a day from trees, 1-2 from the mine, and maybe 1-2 if there are any video commercials to watch. For gamers that play like this, something like a zero-land-use Utopium Tree that costs $.99/$1.99, and automatically generates 1U per hour would be great. It would guarantee that whenever the once-or-twice a day player gets a chance to play he'd have at least a few U to speed up things/buy land. It could require a tap once a day to reset it. In addition, perhaps it could double the chances of any tree adjacent to it to produce Utopium with a tap/give them a rare chance to produce 2U instead of 1U.

That post was mine. Thank you for trying to figure it out, I just have some suggestions for you: 1. My memory is not very good, so the safest way is to rush to level 9 (with recording cost of each level) WITHOUT buying other things like residences. So if you have found any increasements BEFORE level 9 (in case of I'm wrong), you can re-roll easier. Anyway level 11 now is 410k for animal and 770k for casino (about 60% increased from minimum), so it will not be very overpriced at level 9. 2. Forensic Lab now requires Federal Agent and Detective, that is a bit harder to get occupied than before, but not too much. I believe it's still easier than City Square. 3. I am not sure what will happen if you restore IAP before having Enterprise. In worst imagine that will kill your only chance to get an achievement forever. In my game I didn't dare to try restoring, just kept it until I built Enterprise. Again, thanks for trying
Aw yiss, finally got my dodo today at the shelter on the first go; musicians away! Still haven't heard the new score that it says I unlocked though? I noticed a bit more bass in the heart fill sound but idk if that was there before. Also hey Ivan, I have a bug to report. I just got the achievement for all tier 2 animals after getting a brown bear through heart surprises; even though I'd already found a brown bear before, and still have a tier 2 animal locked. This was just after I built the concert hall if that matters. EDIT: turns out my very next animal was the chicken I was missing in tier 2. Huh.
Also something with the Alsatian bug; I have -5 Alsations but I have at least 2 that can be used in other slots aside from the actual Alsations slot haha.
I have had lots of problems with Game Center. I had gotten almost all the achievements before the update (when there were 150 jobs, I unlocked all 150 and all my buildings were fully occupied) but only 12 of them synced with Game Center. When I hit the refresh button, it'd do nothing and if I hit the GC icon from in-game achievement screen I would get a pop-up saying "Please log in to the correct game center account" or something in lines of it. But I'm already logged in as the "correct" (whatever that means, since I only have 1) GC account. So even after the update I haven't played until yesterday. I misclicked and launched the game, and wanted to see if GC sync was fixed and it wasn't. So I decided to delete the game, remove it from GC and reinstall fresh. Now I don't even see the GC log in pop up bar at the top when I launch the game. Tapping GC icon crashes the game after a few seconds. Tapping refresh button immediately crashes the game. So this time I deleted the game and kept the GC record. Reinstalled, and the same thing. So I'd rather just delete the game (despite how much I like it) and remove it from GC, since my OCD doesn't allow me to stand "12 out of 39" achievements. 0 out of 39 is fine, 39 out of 39 is fine, 12 out of 39 is just wrong.
Has anyone tried building a second casino and animal shelter? Can you have one free spin/surprise per building per day? Anyway, I'm gonna try it. I'll destroy the buildings if it doesn't work. Btw did someone try to go back to tabula rasa with a clone? In case I'd like to delete a duplicated building, then resplice the clones for other jobs, I think it is possible now. I understand you have to send him to the hotel and then what?
General appeal for strategy advice. Since the patch, with the lower odds of getting u and the lesser demands for land, I am finding it VASTLY easier to make coins and just as much harder to make u. When 1.3 dropped I had saved up 1 billion coins and 800 u. I'm now back to 1 billion coins and have....200 u. I've been tapping trees each day and doing the Good Boy Peach mission when it comes up, but otherwise stockpiling animals in case of needing them in the next patch. What are others doing to raise u?
I think they balanced it in such a way that the extra money made is meant to go back into casino; eventually converting to u in the form of animals (and then missions), u itself, or land-saving buildings.
On my game, the mission system seems to be working as intended by the developers. I have no negative counts of animals. My animal count has gone down from 1,200 to 500 and most of my Tier 1 and Tier 2 animal counts are at zero. It is curious that this bug affects some people but not others. Maybe it depends on the platform (iPhone or iPad).
Do I have a gambling problem? I can't seem to discipline myself to save 100u to get the hitch hiker gene and close things out for this round. When I get up to 25u, I cash them in on coins and go to the Casino and blow it all on as many spins as I can afford. Then I feel rather dirty. Should I be concerned?
Don' worry. In the next patch, they plan on releasing the gamblers anonymous building. Once built, the longer you hold off tapping the casino, the more positive encouragement you get sent from your pixel people via tiny, in-game messages.
Haha, excellent! OK I have publicly shamed myself into responsible behavior, and am saving my u for the last gene. Incidentally, a few quick things: Astroglass Trees A while back I kind of flippantly said I was disappointed that these weren't "special" in any way other than being pink, since they didn't produce utopium beyond the 25u daily limit, but, again, I spoke too soon, right, because they don't count as a square of purchased space do they? Just like all of the astroglass stuff, I guess. In that way, they are special, so apologies to the developers for misstating that. Glitch Maybe this has been reported, but I recently had a glicth happen when I began opening a heart surprise. The game restarted before the surprise opened, and I lost the surprise. No big deal, and in fact, I was kind of rewarded on a larger level, because all of my buildings cashed out, boosting my coin total. They all needed refreshing. Also, I was able to skip missions, even though I had just done so to the limit right before the glitch. So, it kind of jumped the game forward by an hour or so, it seems. Only happened once. I haven't had the negative anumal issue, but now and then have the game open announcing the "arrival" of the racecar driver that I already have. Level Down? I have to go back and read all of the recent comments from these more dedicated players that are using the alternate approach to play the game with minimal leveling using the church donation and astroglass housing/forests/spirit decor, etc. Cool idea and thank you to those trying/reporting on this. I assume the benefit comes from the ability to use the money needed for level ups to spend at the casino, and also benefiting from the lower scaled costs for playing there? If so, I wonder whether the game will offer an option to scale down to achieve the same goal? That is, if you have leveled up the traditional way but are now acquiring enough astroglass features to allow you to start deleting traditional housing/decor/forests, could you elect to drop down to a lower level and re-acquire the discounts offered at those lower levels? I suppose someone's asked this already. If so, just ignore this, and I'll delete the question when I find the answer in earlier comments as I read through them. Consumables Let me echo others in saying that, while I wouldn't spend $ in game on consumables, I have/would spend on more permanent in game purchases, like the one that I purchased that doubles building returns. I like the idea of one that extends the u limit for the forests, but I'm sure others are possible. Anyway, Ivan and all, great work balancing the game for all of the different users. Looking forward to the next update!
Update #2: Day 2! Level 7, 74/90 slots, (15 trees, 14 residential, 21 decor) Animals (Tier 1/2/3/4/5) : 4/4/5/5/2 At level seven, I can still confirm that the shelter is 250k, so the plan remains to cap at level 9. Once I hit level seven, I had a lot of extra land and realized the cost of expansion was 960k (minus discounts). So, I felt this was a good spot to use the extra land to purchase 20 pieces of decor (the 10k ones), to get me to 50% max reduction on times and costs. Spending 200k on 20 decor will save be almost a half mil in expansion this level. Once I get the land-free stuff, I can start replacing it, or just simply start deleting it after I level cap. Truthfully, level 6 is probably the spot to do this, as the cost = the savings, and you have the needed land. I bumped the tree count to 15 total (from 11 to help reduce the time it takes to max out u for the day.) Not sure if I should build more? Lastly, I decided to spend my u on Research Lab upgrades. My first task will be to max that out, to max the rate of surprises for more u, animals for missions and chances at special genes. The main thing holding me back at the moment is the lack of special genes. I have the explorer (which does very little for this strat) Here's what I want to build next and the genes that are holding me back.. Utopia HQ, Casino: Bereaucrat (this was free for the ug to 1.3, now I assume it's a random surprise?) Church, Gene Lab, Forensic Lab, and a bunch of jobs to fill existing buildings: Dreamer Hotel, Enterprise: Salesman I know it says that these gene are random rewards, but does anyone have any other info? Is it from surprises, or does it just randomly happen? I'm assuming surprises which is also why I'm focus on maxing research. I guess I could just build some other random buildings for coin, but not really needed.
