Ahah! Love the reference. Everytime you bring us a bit of info i get more and more hyped. I am a giant fan of arcade racers and this is definitely one of the top games I am looking forward to this year. Big hopes that it'll turn out to be a success And just something I noticed from the gif It seems odd that theres a floating piece of land. I would make it look like a cave by adding the same texture as the land but in the background, below it. Not sure if that would be difficult or not, but its just a little thing... Ohhh here comes my OCD hahah. You're going to have fun with me if I get into beta testing. Muahahahahaha
Can only hope the same! It has a huge potential, we just have to make sure that players enjoy the game early on and have time to adopt the game mechanics. That's partly why the game needs a lot of testing, make sure that everything is as much spot-on as possible.
OCD can be very useful . Caves in the way you describe is actually the subject of the next track, Razor Caverns. There will be a shadowed wall linking the water and the ceiling. I don't mind floating rocks as they contribute to the 'platforming' feeling and add more freedom level-design wise, but in the light of that new track being created we'll see if we retro-actively make changes on that.
Yeah I guess you're right, it does add to that arcadish platforming feel. Was really bored so decided to make this on my phone rlly quick to just show what it could look like lol. Though it does look ugly, i am not exactly a picasso
Yeah that's the kind of section where the 'tunnel' look would probably be better (making the last screenshot smaller because of resolution and making the wall slightly darker) , though it would be more tricky on sections where there's tiny disconnected bits of rocks in the air. Not even considering technicalities like fps but we'll see how this turns out!

You bounce-off rocks and take damage. Like for any other type of damage, when you've taken enough you explode and respawn a moment later.
Finally, I have had enough time to go around the game. I didn't finish it, but I spent enough time to give a feedback. It was a good thing to dumb down the tutorial race. It won't discourage some players at the beginning. The humour is just awesome, I love it and I have a good laugh each time. The races themselves are well done. For the progression, I feel like you can win 2-3 races, grind a bit to win one, win 2-3 races, grind a bit, and so on. I cannot tell whether it is good or bad, it gives you a false sensation of easy win... I don't know how to explain... I haven't encountered a bug, which is great. I don't have a lot to say because I feel this game is well done, I will keep playing and see if I think of something else.
