Yeah, I still think the original reviews have been kind of hard. People talked a lot about the monetization. For a .99 cents game (even though it probably cost me around 20$, to show support) I have put over 300 hundreds hours in it and still play. For me it was game of the year 2019. It really is an awesome DBG.
I've really enjoyed the game but prefer their Steam model of one flat fee, ala a premium model. Although to be honest, they're getting money from me on both systems.
Alright.... with the new character, the Unknown Captain.... In his ability writeup it says that he gains 2 HP for each ammo used, but I'm loosing 2 HP each ammo.... was the ability write up wrong or is the ammo usage linked to minus HP a bug? ** Contacted the devs.... they explained to me that the character looses 2 HP when he's ignited. =P I feel a bit stupid.... but.... glad it's nothing that'll make me wait for an update. =P
Not true. If you have upgraded the card "Last Order", it juste makes you reload to max and spend 1HP per ammo reloaded this way. However, during the Ignited state, you still loose 2HP. There is no "upgraded" Ignited state.
Another update hit to celebrate their anniversary. - A new package for 2$ is added (5 cards and 2 relics) - New admiral skin (totally free and available immediately) - Admiral's price is down permanently to 3$€ However, this brought some bugs like "Bayonet" not being increased after each use, but it should be corrected in the next update Some might say that a paid package is not a correct way to celebrate the anniversary but they bring us new characters, maps and cards for free every time...
Yet another update with again a new character: the Doctor. Also some changes has been made to the Arena mode: it now integrates cards and enemies/bosses from the new maps (Northern and Eastern) and it scale to level 100. The new Doctor character is locked until you finish the Arena. Since the game has also been released on Steam, I expect the studio to be even more recognised and release even more awesome updates like that
They do! We now have 680 cards, 13 characters (a 14th is presumed to be hidden since the release of the Steam trailer video), 6 different maps with unique enemies and bosses. This game's devs did an amazing job at updating it with new mechanics and cards as well as quests and achievements
Wow I didn’t realise the game was updated. I played again with the swordsman and didn’t make it past the third boss. For some reason the game seems a lot harder that I can remember. What % of your runs do you guys complete ?
So I had offloaded this game and just re-downloaded. Said my save file was corrupted so I lost a ton of progress. And it won’t restore my purchase of the booster. Urghh!!!
Hop off to their Discord and mention this bug. They are quite responsive so you might get a solution.
Ugh, I am so jonesin’ for StS that I’m about to pull the trigger in this despite my initial disgust at the IAP model. So wish they’d just sell the full game unlock for 10-20 bucks.
Actually, not to shill another format...but do you have access to a PC? They also sell this game on Steam for 1 flat price ($19.99) that includes EVERYTHING in the mobile release as well as all upcoming additions that might be added later (I think at the very least some new heroes are in the works). Since this Steam version has no IAPs, they've changed the game's unlock system to being ONLY Reputation based which simply means everything in the game is unlockable (unless hidden behind a quest as are maybe 1 hero and a couple of cards) just by playing the game and earning a little Reputation each run. They cleverly paced out all of the game's unlockables so that every few games (even if you didn't get that far) you'd unlock a new character, area, card pack, or something fun.
Oh thank you, but I’m aware. I have a PC that I use to play StS (and SteamLink it to my iPhone sometimes). Just annoyed that this is on mobile with IAP grind and no full game unlock and StS is apparently indefinitely lost in publisher/port hell.
@Alex DeLargest honestly I have to agree it is a bit too grindy for a premium title. Yet I’ve never regretted my purchase, it’s a great game that’s constantly getting updates.
Same here but I actually enjoy the grinding part. Because of the fact that I don't own everything yet in the game, this keeps me coming and it's one of the few games that never gets offloaded from my phone. The quick pace of the game also makes it great to play a little from time to time. And also to be honest, even if I probably have dozens of hours put in this game, I still have much to learn about all the characters and combos I can have... So grinding is not a problem since it helps me to improve myself over and over
same thoughts here, but i also think that if it had been completely premium, would have been one of the best card games ever from the beginning, unfortunately those IAPs and its global greed have somewhat clouded its fame.
Currently free. Is there a lot of grinding after getting the doubler? Just tried a round and feels kinda like the other card games that I’ve tried. But I’m really not into of these type of games (but always am curious) so not sure if I should keep trying this or play Night of the Full Moon. Any recommendations between these Pirates Outlaw or Night of the Full Moon? Kinda want to finally try one of these games and stick with it, but not sure which is more beginner friendly.
