While I won’t say I’ve mastered him, but I managed to beat the first map with the skin of my teeth as the cursed captain. Phew. +1060 gold +260 repute and 2 booster packs.
I also completed the first map for the first time last night. Not playing anything like constantly, but a decent dibble each day. Probably close to GOTY for me despite some remarkable contributions already this year.
Update : World 1 is completed (100%) I've now unlocked the 2nd world. The 1st boss there was brutal - and the world is a bit harder - Didn't have time to play in in depth Otherwise, I'm now able to complete 1st world about 40-50% of the time - Definitely no issue with the progression rate in this game.
same here, world 2 was refreshing with new enemy type. i alternate between world 1 and 2 still. anyone unlocked world 3 yet? i kept running into this problem where i tend to forget to fix the ship in 2nd island. and a good run end up in sinking ship.. zzzz....
im not sure if they can implement the option to allow us to go back to the store as long as we haven't set sail off the store island? or we just have to be trained to be mindful... like a good captain should? haha
OK, completed the 2nd island with the cursed captain - that character is stronnnnnnnnnnnng. Strength-wise, that's my number 1 now. Edit.: Some additional info about Island 2 : It's filled with undeads & pirates and a greater emphasis on curses Undeads are variations of the base pirates but with specific abilities - If you're playing a regular character, cards that remove curses have to be planned if you want to tackle on bosses. These pirates also take damage from healing spells and you unlock cards that grant bonus (card draw, damage...) based on the enemy type (Human, undead) or placement (front row, back row...) It's great !
I find that frustrating when I’ve just dibbled out to check something (and AP aren’t visible once in a market / tavern, even if you dibble out) and then it’s too late to go back. Or even to rage quit and restart from entry.
i cant confirm for market but if you're inside a Tavern, you can press the lower left ship AP icon to check, you can also check the handy map on the top left. I just went on 'auto pilot' mode when im rushing through games after games after games and i swear there were multiple occasions that the moment i leave the tavern, i know instantaneously i forgot to repair the ship. the fault is on me, still it made me consider probably buying the +20 AP when i have enough gold.. still debating between that or unlocking the last relic slot...
Payment in blood with Pepper and the melee glove that increase dmg is just insane on the sword master. You can cycle 4 times or more your deck each turn
Upgraded payment in blood. Actual #rofl first time I encounter that. I’ve got a screenshot of a 39 heal somewhere (misdirect built to 13). Which isn’t beyond amazeballs, but did make me laugh.
I was a sceptic of the game to begin with, because I much prefer to pay upfront for games and ‘own’ the entire thing with one payment. I jumped in with the tiny entry price, then quickly bought the 2x booster. Then I realised I was having so much fun that I bought the Admiral (he has since become my favourite character). Having bought the doubler and the Admiral, I definitely feel like I ‘own’ the entire game now. Currently I’m 81% of the way through Pirates Bay and have dabbled a little in Skulls Island. I have 6500 Repute and have finished Pirates Bay numerous times with Gunner, Sword Master, Explorer and Admiral. After completing so many runs and unlocking so many cards, every single run now I’m discovering some completely amazing card synergies. I’m talking genius level. At first I dismissed half of the cards because I thought I’d never use them, but now I understand the thought that went into each one. Each card is a small part of a mad genius’s plan, you just need to discover it, and then put it to use.
Could you please share some tips with admiral? I’m trying to balance between spending money and not spending money, it requires a very delicate balance. I was able to make it to 3rd map but died half way before the final boss. I was hauling gold around $400+ at one point but then I had to repair the ship every second island and mid of 3rd island so that took away 200 gold. Also, I haven’t upgraded any card using the store or destroyed any card so my deck was equally bloated. Tried to remote the range cards and leaving myself with free casting cost melee cards in general while stacking some armor. I was bombarded to oblivion by the bomber with the big canon in a 3 man formation. Didn’t have hook, very little range card, no injury card, I was doomed. LOL. As for the game, i took the same route as you. Probably they want to make it a relatively low low entry price (while not completely free) to allow people to dabble in it. Even if they price it at $5.99 with gold and repute doubler on by default but with the IAP selling gold n stuff, people would still be turned off by it. I had so much fun with it that I still can’t put it down since the day I bought it. I’ve unlocked all heroes. Haven’t buy any of the boosters yet and still waiting to unlock the last map.
It’s a good game, it should be 5 stars in my opinion. The doubler is important to make the game enjoyable in my opinion.
Following the long pages of the thread, and I can't help but wanna try the game since there are some players who really enjoy the game, so I just gave a try and purchased the booster as well. so the question is, how would you use the $5000 from the booster as a beginner?
I’ve remained on the side line for now although I will likely buy this game sometime soon. I just have waaaay to many games on my iPhone/ipad that I can’t buy this yet! I am not a fan of IAP and normally skip all games that have them in it. I ended loving Night of Full Moon and also Silent abyss. In general I prefer the way they did IAPs and even bought the full iap bundle for Night of the Full Moon already... You’re post “son of anarchy” helped me to maybe view this game as a premium title if I choose to buy all the IAPs. I’ll get this likely one day but for now it’s been fun reading the differing opinions!
You probably want to buy in this order: The booster (which you did) Maybe the sword master and the melee pack ? (Rock and melee gloves are very strong on the sword master) That gives you a good chance to beat the first world. Then you’ll get much more gold by either stopping after the second boss or completing the first world.
The clone card works on consumables, you can clone upgraded bananas or tentacles ... Edit: mirror image is OP on the cursed captain, i could beat the game on my first try with him due to cloning the cards.
