Broke down and bought it, for the price totally worth it. Gameplay is great, looks like tons of cards (still very early), challenging, and looks like I’ll be grinding my way to get more heroes, but looks like it will be fine! IAP are for gold and an experience doubler, which I’ll buy. Not sure if cloud saves are supported and game plays in landscape mode. For the price it’s totally worth it, it’s a buck. If you love card battlers then it’s a no brainer. I don’t love the poor English translation in Night of the Full Moon, but the gameplay hooks are fantastic. Haven’t started Silent Abyss yet and I wish it was portrait, but so be it. But I don’t mind grinding a bit if the gameplay is satisfying. I’m torn. I’ll give it a bit for more impressions. I don’t mind spending money, but for full moon the IAP unlocks everything all at once. I happily and immediately supported them. While art style is slick, wish there were more animations and effects, which would really take it to the next level. Price is definitely right. There is a $3 IAP coin/repute (exp) doubler that also gives initial 5k coin boost. In addition to coin, looks like there is a repute (exp) requirement to unlock new areas, so even if you invest in IAP, you need to successfully complete initial zone to gain enough repute to unlock additional areas. I was initially put off by the iAP after buying it but having thought about it a little it’s not an issue at all. Here’s how it works: You start a trip. You’re a ferocious pirate captain, travelling from battle to battle, making your way forward to take down the boss of each section. During each run you earn coins, which are used to repair your ship, buy and upgrade cards from the deck, the usual fare. But then your run ends, because maybe you weren’t as mighty a pirate as you thought. At the end of each trip you’re rewarded gold (not coins) and renown. - Renown is your piratey status, which you need to raise before you can unlock new areas and outside the doubler, there is no way to buy this. - Gold is the meta currency, which is completely separate from the coins used inside each run. You could spend $100 on gold and it would not affect the gameplay at all. - Gold is used to purchase new characters, skins for those characters, unlock a blind pack or cards and items, which then have a chance to show up on each trip, and unlock new areas. The doubler speeds up progression through the unlocks but every game of this type has characters that take hours to unlock. If you want an absolutely premium experience, but the doubler and forget that the IAP is even there. Most importantly though, I don’t have the doubler (yet) and I don’t feel like a second-class citizen. Seems like those would affect gameplay. And unlocking new areas obviously is a big thing. If it takes forever to earn enough gold to unlock regions, that totally is a gameplay issue IMO. Just feels like gold should not even be a factor in unlocking areas and almost seems like a way to push IAPs. I see no other reason for attaching gold to it.
