Wish I'd heard about that before. I could have gotten A8 instead.

I've finished the game and this is a completely incorrect statement, played through the entire game without spending a cent extra.

    - All levels are accessible from the start by clearing the level before like a standard TD game. No paywalls at all in the game. You do have to buy the extra heroes though if you want them... I just used the free guy.

Not sure where you got that info from but maybe you heard some folks that were stuck on a level because they found it too hard or something.

I was tempted but will still pass after reading the reviews on the app store which most were not favorable.

Your loss as the sale might not last long and it's a pretty awesome game for a buck! :p

Hmmm...I read this from a reputable site (not here, of course, and I don't want to throw it under the bus). In that case, I may reconsider...

What's interesting about this price drop is that this title is still featured under the New and Noteworthy section. Plenty of potential to cash in on. Maybe the price combined with the bad timing of release is what has this dev thinking the sky is falling. To drop to .99 seems a bit drastic tho.

OR they are cashing in on IAP more than they expected to and want to expand that potential. Who knows.

Just saw the above post... Still have a hard time believing that while being in New and Noteworthy...

Yeah, after reading the reviews and looking over the available IAP I think I may be correct in that this developer wants to expand their earning potential while still having the spotlight. Not because the whole "poor me we're down on our luck" as they want people to believe. The IAP seems quite excessive, especially at the original price of $3.99.

There's a lot of IAP options in there but it's doable without spending anything, if you got the skillz ;) The game defo feels like it was a proper premium game with a few freemium bits bolted on later. For what it's worth, I liked it!

Very hard to get any serious sales from paid apps these days, especially with an unknown franchise. Even with New and Noteworthy and all the iTunes placements it can be very tough. Just so many free games out there taking most of the attention.

You know what I don't get? The flak this game gets for the IAPs. Isn't it the same with KRF (consumable IAP + Heroes)? Mind you I haven't played KRF, nor do I care to...but why does that get a free pass when Super Hippo is getting all of this backlash? Hey...at least they had the decency to make this universal. Something that Kingdom Rush got wrong, considering the amount of IAPs for extra units/heroes/whatever the hell they're called. Has anyone with both versions bought those things twice?

If this is still on sale, I may throw a buck at the developers just for all the crap they're receiving. Sheesh.

Very true, this is no worse than KRF or FR2 for IAP. It's cheaper and universal unlike those, plus KRF looks like ass compared to the visuals in this, fact.

How does the IAP seem "quite excessive"?

Just wondering upon what fantastical basis people, who clearly aren't playing the game, make these assumptions?

This is a game, where even at launch prices, you could have the best (with therefore zero reason to buy anything else), for a grand total of $10 (currently $6 with the sale).

This isn't even comparable to KR, where the design of the maps, mobs, and hero mechanics mean some heroes are preferable than others and, at the least, provide a modestly different experience. For PL, the $5 hero is *functionally* identical to the free hero, even though it's about 4X more powerful. You're merely paying for an advantage if you want it.

The toe stuff is unnecessary, purely optional, and not even worth mentioning.

Totally agree, it's amazing how many Pirate Legends experts there are that didn't even try it. KR IAP is must more essential for playing harder levels than this... . :p
