I made it to round 16 on hard level 6 using this strategy, only to be defeated In the last moment, some enemies have a lot of health on hard.
Hmm so close. Have you upgraded the turtle and the bombard to do shochwaves in the tech tree? That's very useful in this level.
No, I haven't thanks for to helpful tip( I just lost again on hard, map 6 & at the end of wave 16) mr_wexer what do you think is the most effective tower for you so far?
I find that lv1 chemical towers beside lv3 cannons in the top corners of that map works well. Then voodoo towers on the right to deal with the armoured guys. More harpoons and eventual chicken voodoo towers later in the map. You need to have attest 2 harpoon towers & 1 chicken voodoo with squadron upgrade by final waves. That worked for me anyway. I did play on medium first then had more anchors to deal with levels on hard mode on 2nd play through.
What a let-down... Back from vacation, excited to buy this game, only to find I have to buy some of the characters, and it's full of IAP ? MAJOR disappointment. No purchase from me.
Here's a screen of that level on hard no lives lost. http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/4591/mzf7.png Couple tips, make sure to keep moving your ace around at start of each wave then later on leave it nearby the ship. Make sure to prioritise the wind ship in the top left with your ace/abilities. Since the right side is almost all armoured ships you want 2 voodoo towers that side like I have done.
Thank you both for the helpful tips, my trouble comes from the wind surfer guys around wave 14 & the flying guys, that's when I start to lose lives.
What about all the reviews that complain about being asked repeatedly to buy "toes" ? Is it true that this comes during game play and that it is much too frequent ? I'd hate playing only to keep being pestered to spend money. I'm also turned off by the fact that I have to buy extra characters that should be in the game to begin with. I don't mind paying for expansion packs, new levels, etc., but characters ??? I don't think that's right !
Only played the first round, but seems like nothing new here. I felt like I was playing KR with the similar maps, upgrade screen, constant deployment of reinforcements in the form of the turtle, tap to send level early + get extra gold, I guess I'll treat it as a KR expansion pack.
I played the entire game and you never get prompted to buy toes unless you click the get more toes button. There are no auto prompts so not sure what this is referring too. This is the same as Kingdom Rush and I played and loved both KR games without spending money on extra heroes so didn't bother me. At the end of the day there are always going to be haters and they tend to shout the loudest. The game is great fun and if you like high quality TD games you should give it a go.
There's definitely a lot more than that to discover beyond level 1! Like the manual cannon on pirate ship, using the weapons with physics to push guys around, secondary missions, rivers messing with enemy speeds, destructible dams that release more rivers!, crazy marine weaponry... The game does have a core spine that's similar to KR but I found it played very differently. I also find it odd how Kingdom Rush has become the bar when it borrowed so much from Ninja Town on the DS and pretty much its entire arsenal from Warcraft 3 ... but I guess people have short memories Imo if a game is good I don't really care where it borrows ideas from. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Agreed it a nice addition to the genre

It cam from the iTunes store The things I refer to were mentioned in multiple reviews on iTunes. I was checking out this game there when I saw that many reviewers brought up these two issues independently, as well as the similarity to KR (which I liked a lot). My beef with both games is that if you make a game with multiple characters, and I buy that game, I should have all the characters without needing to pay extra, especially if one of those characters cost more than the game itself !!! I had the same issue (and a much bigger concern about) in an interactive book, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". In that instance, it was halloween costumes that the Peanuts gang could wear. Kids had to spend real money to get any costume that wasn't the most basic ghost sheet ! After all, these extras amounted to be only drawings, and did nothing to enhance the book as such. They were decorations, but parents were expected to spend quite a bit of money on top of a six dollar book to get content that should have been included ! (I feel that Charles Schulz would not have approved - he was a shrewd merchandiser, but he was never a greedy one...) Anyway, I'll stop my goings-on here. I'm just getting really sick of IAPs and the general direction that game devs seem to be going in. (Hello, EA and PvZ2 !!!) I'd rather pay a higher initial price and get the complete game package, c'est tout !!!
To be fair the game has a lot of 5 star reviews also and I think an average of 4 stars so it can't be all bad I totally agree with you on the industry going to a place that doesn't sit well with a lot of gamers. I for one would opt to play a full priced Nintendo game over anything in the appstore. Ninty games are full of good surprises and not the type of unpleasant sh1t that you find in games that free on the app store. Clash of Clans is a prime example, it introduces you to a few neat ideas get you interested and then rips you off... you eventually stop playing it and it leaves you hating yourself for spending good time and money on a bottomless pit.
I'm sorry but this can't hold KRF's jockstrap, it's like comparing apples to baby wombat's. It's oddly boring and slow. But looks great for what it's worth.
I found the first 1-2 levels to be slowish but I guess they are training levels. If you're playing on hard from level 3 onwards it's extremely challenging and action packed!! Are you sure you're not sniffing some jockstrap?
