You mentioned a few weeks ago that all Hero's can be unlocked through gameplay is this true? If so at what stages?
Here's the original post from the Upcoming thread. "There are 4 Flying Aces (Heroes) at launch and 3 of them are purchasable with IAP. We're planning on adding loads more over the coming months plus new levels and other fun expansions." Would really like to hear any suggestions you guys have for future updates. - Civilisations you like to pillage with the pirates for next bonus levels. - Any flying contraptions or sea creatures you'd like to see. Sponge Bob Square pants attack Submarine...
Here's the only mention of heroes on page 2 of that thread and it says the same thing as I mentioned before... "Some Hero planes will require IAP and others are earned through play." I'm done with this subject now, thanks
Sharks!!! The Shark Special power for the Harpoon tower is absolutely boss! Add lots more stuff like this in the update please
Not really sure I understand the basis for this complaint. Nowadays, nearly all games involving any sort of currency will allow you to purchase said currency. That's everything from premium games where you finish them sitting on $100K like Kingdom Rush Frontiers, to premium costing games that are freemiumish grindage like Infinity Blade to true freemium like Injustice: GAU. Perceiving the presence of consumable currency IAP as a warning sign is about as logical as perceiving Game Center as a warning sign. If you tallied up the two "features", they're probably equally ubiquitous in the app store (and equally indicative of the game's quality).
Flying buggers?! Anyone playing on hard? I'm having trouble with just the flying guys, any tips for best dealing with them? Other than that no trouble so far on hard, do you earn more $$$$/toes playing on hard?
Fair play for starting from scratch on the Hard mode! I generally play only that difficulty too but it can get very tasty around the mid point of the game. I find the the basic free hero (Kingsley) is enough to really clean up the gyrocopters or do enough damage to only require 1-2 basic voodoo towers to take them down. Level 6 is the first time the flying guys are actually a dangerous presence and I tend to use this tactic for that level. - I try to build a level 2 or 3 cannon tower in the top right on the corner and have a chemical close to that to slow stuff down. - Just under the ship I build a Gun tower and eventually upgrade it to the harpoon around the middle waves. - Under that above Harpoon I build a Voodoo tower and try to upgrade it to the chicken tower later in the game. - On the left and right just under ship I like building chemicals to make a nice kill zone around the ship. - Once the Bad Pirates start spawning from the left I might hire 1-2 basic basic pirate allies. And try to build more cannon towers on the left as the pirates spawn in large groups. In the later waves you gotta have Chicken Squadrons (Voodoo tower) & Chum Buddies (Harpoon Sharks) to deal with the heavy armor. Hope this helps
Thank you very much, I don't find the gunner towers to be very effective (or may I haven't used them that much )
They're supposed to be like a cheap alternative but you gotta builds lots of them to have any real affect. Once you upgrade them to Harpoons (Sharks) or Minigun (Grenades) towers though, they are vicious!
Thank for the tips & congratulations on a GREAT GAME, this one is a keeper for me(thank your production team also)
Coins & toes Do certain enemies give out a higher payout then others? It seems like certain enemies payout in toes & certain enemies payout in coins
Yeah all enemies have different payouts. Nasty enemies or enemies with special abilities pay out bigger in general. Each wave has at least one enemy that will drop toes and they can drop between 8-20 toes each. Hope that makes sense
Hey guys we've just created a Pirate Legends site and we'll be adding collectable Legend Cards (3 so far) that explain a little more about the origins of the games characters. Check them out if you have some time
Game Impressions Love the cards nice job, you guys planning to do many more? First I'd like to say I'm a huge Kingdom Rush fan and I have to say this feels similar but also totally different as you don't use the troops to stop enemies and the pace & tactics are very different as a result. I think it does enough with the genre to carve its own identity. I've been playing the game for 2 days and I have to agree with Brad in the Podcast (26mins) the game is great fun and the "art is the best in any tower defense game on iOS" and I love the amount of choices you get during a given level... although it can get a bit frantic! - Build x towers or - Use pirate ships cannon manually or - Hire Allies or - Reposition hero smoke or Use turtles and bombards or Summon Twisters & Krakens I have to give it 5 stars for action, art and sound. Definitely recommend you check it out if you're not sure. I've finished the first 10 levels and haven't spent a cent on IAP and have loved the variety of crazy weapons and enemies. Never felt any pressure to spend more money after initial purchase but it is challenging for sure.
