Your main objective is to score goals by hitting the ball towards your opponent's side of the arena, and waiting for it to explode, as it touches the edge of the arena. It may sound easy, but you also have to outwit your AI-controlled opponent which is trained to block your attempts to score goals. Meanwhile, you also need to block your opponent's attempts to score goals. There are 2 exciting game modes to choose from: - Time Mode: Play a 3-minutes match against an opponent. The winner is the player who got the higher score. - Endless Mode: Play against an opponent until you miss the ball. Once the ball explodes in your side of the arena the game is over. Try to break your best score record and share it with your friends via Game Center! With its colorful design (customizable to your taste), Game Center support, surprises and easy to use (but hard to master) gameplay, Pingpon is a perfect choice for the casual gamer. I ran the tutorial and really didn't grasp how to move in order to consistently return the ball. The game itself is equally frustrating. Maybe it's just my brain's inability to catch on to the controls. This is the type of game I normally love, but I'm hating the gameplay so far. I was able to locate the first two arrows but can’t, for the life of me, get the third. I’m assuming you skipped the tutorial, @Grist? I’ll jump back in and see if I can skip it. [EDIT] So, luckily you can skip the training. However, the controls definitely are uncomfortable. I lost a game 2-20 something. I naturally want to move the opposite direction than you’re meant to go, sort of like the in flight games where down goes up, etc. It may be easier with that control method, but I didn’t see one in the options menu. Also, when firing your first shot of the game (or after someone scores), the ball seems to go the total wrong way I would think I would.. Seems like a decently polished game otherwise. But yeah, I don’t feel a strong desire to go back for more after this initial play session.. yuvi New Member Jan 20, 2021 4 2 3 Male https://sites.google.com/view/pingpon #4 yuvi, Feb 21, 2021 @Grist - Thank you for giving it a try and for sharing your feedback! I'm very sorry you didn't like the game. I think you just need a little bit more practice and you'll get used to it and find it very easy to play. Part of the challenge is getting used to the controls, like Flappy Bird. Maybe the following tips can help: 1. As soon as the ball starts flying in your direction, move the paddle so that you keep seeing the ball through it. You have about 2-3 seconds until it's supposed to hit your paddle. 2. If you feel like the paddle is moving too fast as you drag your finger over the screen, open the Settings menu (the button with the gear icon on the bottom of the screen when the game begins) and drag the sensitivity slider to the left. Then try to play again. 3. When the ball is flying, look for its trail - if you can't see it but you see the ball, it's flying towards your paddle. 4. If the opponent's paddle has stars circling it, it'll throw the ball really fast and even I usually miss the ball in that situation. That is the intended behaviour but it's quite rare. I hope that helps and I encourage you to give the game another try. I couldn't score even 1 point playing Flappy Bird but I scored over 300 points playing Pingpon (Endless Mode) @Anotherkellydown - Thank you for trying the game and sharing your feedback! As for the tutorial, sometimes the arrow is leading you to a marker or a booster that you need to collect but sometimes it's just trying to lead you to where you're supposed to put your paddle in order for the ball to hit it. If you see the arrow disappear and the word "WAIT" is showing up, just keep the paddle in place until the ball hits it (unless you see the arrow again). You can skip the tutorial after you start it, but it's really easy and only takes about 5 minutes to complete. Anotherkellydown likes this. Unfortunately slowing the paddle movement with the sensitivity slider isn't enabling me to improve. Maybe creating an additional slider that ranges from dummy to genius would help yuvi likes this. I gave the tutorial levels another shot and this time it worked as intended. Level 2 must have been bugged out the first time (or I’m just losing my mind), because I got right through it the second time ‘round. I’m also getting better at the vs AI and infinite modes. One suggestion I have is to possibly decrease the opponent capsule penalty time. As it is now, I move way too slow to even get near the ball when slowed down. It’s growing on me, albeit slowly. Thanks for replying to the comments. If not for that, I may have given up for good. yuvi likes this. yuvi New Member Jan 20, 2021 4 2 3 Male https://sites.google.com/view/pingpon #7 yuvi, Feb 21, 2021 @Anotherkellydown - Thanks for giving it another try! As for the trap capsule (or penalty capsule), that is the intended behaviour. Sometimes, if you try hard enough, you can reach the ball but usually you won't. It's supposed to give an advantage to the other player so that even if you don't play as good as the AI, you can still have a chance to beat it if it hit a trap capsule. Anotherkellydown likes this.
