There's no reason it would feel faster on my Touch to my iPad, right? Probably just illusion caused by screen size but it does feel quite different. Works fantastic on my Touch.

No reason due to code, both iPad2 and Touch run at the full 62.5fps (even easily). Ofcourse there CAN be a difference how the actual touch screens work, they obviously have different screens so the iPad2 screen can be a tad slower to respond to the actual PHYSICAL touch of your finger. Maybe it's due to the much, much larger size, the event processor Apple is using has to work much harder?

I too think that when playing with iPhone 4, it feels a bit quicker.

Can anyone compare this to Last Gladiators? That has been the best pinball game for me (by far) though it is expensive to get all 4 tables. I almost always play with the knights of the roses table anyway.

Love all four tables of Last Gladiator. Would be my favorite pinball game, if a) I wouldn't have such a strong emotional bond to the Amiga games and b) if it wasn't that ugly. This in Retina (since everything is so small and detailed) and I would not stop playing it. Nice action tables, definitely.

Say, does the original Amiga version have a button that allows you to shake the table? I'm glad to see this added to the HD version. But does the Amiga version have the random chance for a bonus ball at the end of each game like the first Pinball Dreams for iOS (absent in this HD version)?

Yes, space bar was the tilt on Amiga. And no, even the original port doesn't give a random chance, I think you're mistaking it for Pinball Fantasies :)

Oh! You're right, I had a little brain catch I guess.

It's interesting to note then, that in certain ways, this visually-updated version is more faithful to the original than the first port was (i.e., ball speed and table shaking). Great stuff here.

    I tried

Been playing all weekend...just can't handle the flipper response on this one. I plat Tristan, 2 Gameprom pb, several others. I like the tables, graphics, really want to play this, tried to get used to it, but I need the flippers to react immediately to the touch, I feel like I'm going to break right through the iPad screen trying to get response, I am surprised I am the only who has this problem. I hope someday to see an update fixing this, until then I have to delete.

    Hi juuso,
    well done!
Would you consider adding the tilt button to the "classic" versions of Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies?
And after that wonderful surprise, bring on Fantasies HD and Illusions! :)

Good news everyone! Well, small good news anyway, about the flipper response, we were able to shave 1/50th of a second - one frame in the game logic/physics engine - of the response so it's 0.02 seconds faster :)

It's up to you if you can actually sense the difference, but there is one - we were able to sense it ;) Now the flippers start moving at the *very* same time you touch screen.

As to blastemup 's comment though, the flippers in the GP tables react unnaturally fast, the flippers go 100% up basically in 2 to 3 frames (something like 0.04 seconds?) and the flippers are very long and give a huge speed to the ball. If you play a real pinball table, the flippers don't work that way. But like someone already said before in this thread, GP tables are more like a digital playground for kids ;)

We'll put the v1.2 to Apple review with the improved response, the new cameras and some other small bugfixes hopefully tomorrow or the day after.

Am I the only one who thinks, that this should have been a free update.
Charging again for the same tables with better graphics seems strange
    to me.

Normally I might agree with you, but it really is more than a substantial change from the old version. It's clear that a ton of work was put into this as well, and I would definitely not expect a dev to put that much work into something for free. Adding it as an IAP would have been a little strange and I actually like having the two apps separate as well.

Believe me, I was as skeptical as anyone before I played it, but playing it made a believer out of me. This is worth every penny and then some, even if you have the original game.

@Cowboy Rodeo: Please give Fantasies the same treatment. :)

It's the same tables but it's a pretty substantial overhaul that now makes it universal in the process. Personally, I think it's well worth the price and it would have been really hard I imagine to justify the cost of doing it without actually charging for it.

Sounds great! Can't wait. And then - after that update - you know what to do, since we all know too :p

Hi, thanks for all the positive feedback everyone. I'm the programmer behind the HD version, and I think it's safe to say that Fantasies is already planned. Also, Pinball Dreams HD should get a Mac AppStore release soon.

About the next update, as Juuso already mentioned, we will add few switchable camera modes. One of them will look something like this on iPad:

Whoa.. I won't even go to the depths of how much work we did for this new version (almost doubled the code we had for the first one, not to mention all of the 3D graphics and whatnot), but even the logic behind this suggestion :O

If I bought an album from an artist and 2 years later they released a remix album with the same tracks but everything totally ground-up reworked, should I get it for free? Ofcourse not. I don't *have* to buy the remixed album that's for sure, I can still enjoy the older one, but would you even think of asking a free copy of the remix album?

What are the chances of the crosses making it back on to the Nightmare table? And (shouldn't grumble but while I'm at it) your previous reworking of the Steel Wheel table added a lovely brushed metal effect to the ramps - any chance of that making it to the 3D version? They do look great in 3D but I must admit to missing some of the little details.

Given that Illusions has some rights issues and the fact that you must have picked up a huge amount reworking these tables not just once but twice, have you thought about making some of your own original tables? I'd definitely be curious to see what you'd come up with.

Can't wait - will buy that one as well. Great to see these back and hopefull the Illusions rights issues can be worked out eventually. (should we hold our breath)?
