Picked this up while it was free. Nice pinball app, but am astonished at how much battery usage this uses up compared to even fully 3-D games with high-end graphics. I have a console version that has many of the tables on here so to me the IAPs seem pretty pricey. That said, it probably is one of the best iOS pinball adaptations.
This game is fully 3D, and the only reasons the graphics don't look nicer are because Farsight is committed to a higher framerate than Chair or Gameloft and because they're not as experienced with the platform. In other words, Farsight pushes the GPU about as hard as any other developer, they just don't get as much out of it and they aren't willing to compromise smooth gameplay for flashy screenshots.
Gamecenter will be in the July update.......thank god. I can't take the Facebook leaderboards anymore. Time to get really addicted when Gamecenter arrives and I can compete with my friends properly
Yes, people are whining that they don't get all the tables unlimited/unlocked for free. The same dipshits who will drop real money on Farmville or Zynga Poker or Tiny Tower coins whine when asked to pay to support actual, quality craft. "But Apple said it was free and it's not! I only get one table free and the rest cost moneys! Derrr!" Sad. Welcome to the end of games and the dawn of digital treadmills/pocket slot machines!
Ha! I unfortunately agree. I really hope Farsight can bounce back from this. They are doing a great job faithfully re-creating these tables. I'd hate to see their reputation tarnished because of the ignorant masses. I view their work as historically important enough to support with my wallet like much of the rest of the emulation scene. It's not like they have registered "non profit" even if their work could qualify. They gotta get paid somehow. I don't understand how these people writing all the negative reviews don't see that.
The game icon shows Monster Bash and Gorgar, so they should definitely make these tables available for free!
I simply love this game! I have owned a total of 3 actual pinball games (Highspeed 2: The getaway, Doctor Who & Theatre of Magic), but unfortunately had to get rid of them just before my first daughter was born. Ofcourse I sponsor them in buying all pinball games they release, I can't wait to see which games they'll release next!
I'm glad this thread keeps going, because I forgot all about trying this on my iPad. And here I just went and bought PA on my Vita last week. I love this on my iPad 3, the bigger screen really let's me enjoy it more than on the vita. I'll probably end up sinking money into this version too now.
Totally agree, just left a 5/5 review, think more of us have to do it, shame those idiots leave those reviews expecting to get everything for free.
I just left a 5 star review as well. If you love this game leave a review right now! It's ridiculous to leave a bad review because of price. It should be based on the game itself. The prices are fair on top of that, but people want games for free now, or at most .99. Crazy !!
That is sad. I posted a counter review as well. Everybody should at least rate it - you don't have to leave a review. Just click the stars near the top of the listing in iTunes.
Yeah I'm about to 5 stars this game. I love pinball arcade games and they deserve kudos for this piece of software. It's amazing, really! Someday I will have a real pinball machine in my home!
