I never bought PHOF, but from what i heard the physics were ass and the roms were not truly emulated...they kinda redid it on the fly. True emulation and better physics...I'm so in. Lookin forward to gorgar especially, watched some vids..its just classic straightforward pinball, that talks to u! I really like a solid mix between oldschool and newschool pinball
Monster Bash is ok,but Gorgar? I think, the guy´s from Farsight are to young. They never expirienced the real good tables from the older days. Black Hole and Gorgar? We need the real good ones like Eight Ball Deluxe, Paragon,Lost World,Totem,Xenon, Big Indian,Superman,Bow&Arrow,Flash Gordon...
Gorgar is not the greatest of the older games, but it has historical significance and I enjoy playing it anyway. EBD is a definite must. I had one of those for a number of years. Great game, but it's one I would *really* like access to the operator menus, because it was much more fun if you set it to include multipliers when you shot the upper right pothole (normally it awards bonus without multipliers). It's awesome trying to get your stored bonus to the max, and mulitplier maxed, and then shoot the pothole for major points.
I don't know how they did the games in PHoF, but the physics weren't as good as PA, that much is true.
they were very good for the time. the game is four years old and was very well-received at the time. The PS3 version of PHOF is a very good PB game. Certainly not "ass."
I have it for both iOS and Xbox, and I also gave $100... And I'm geeked about having the TZ operators menu on the Xbox!! I like the game best on Xbox because I have real buttons and a big screen. I changed the controls from the triggers to the bumpers because timing trigger pulls is not as precise.
I got PA on my xbox, vita and ipad3. also gave some $ for twilight zone. you are doing a great job and can't wait for more tables to follow. are you planing to add some of these too ? - centaur - black knight 2000 - terminator 2 - williams Fire - xenon - congo - eight ball deluxe - break shot (capcom) - dracula - high speed - f14 - attack from mars - harlem globetrotters - scared stiff - banzai run
Eight Ball Deluxe was great! Another one was Wizards. For the newer tables among lots of others I'd love to play would be The Terminator and Adams Family for sure. Seems the line-up for the future PA tables aren't as good as the first few. TZ helps take it in the right direction, though, for sure! I know of, and have seen on this thread many good ones I'd like to see happen, and I hope they are gonna be made. Used to have a whole bedroom of my last house as a game room full of pinballs and other stand-up games. Having my daughter changed all that back then. Though I never thought I'd have a bunch of these same games in my pocket some day! Great gaming days, these are! Gotta love it!
That's because they are now stating if you guys give them double what they asked for, or 110k, they will also do the Star Trek TNG table.
Woohooo twilight zone is in the pocket! Don't really care for the star trek table as i am no "trekkie" If farsight had chosen the addams family instead of star trek i would double or triple my pledge in a hartbeat!
Yesterday was the second biggest day for funding, second only to the initial kickoff day. I wonder what happened to get the message out yesterday. Maybe people were waiting for their paychecks at the end of the month?
PHoF looks poor NOW, but was great at the time. They didn't emulate the ROMs, they scripted everything. Addams Family has a number of legal issues that makes it difficult to release. I've enjoyed Star Trek (the shows) over the years, but I loved this table. It probably sucked $800-1000 dollars out of my pocket when I was younger (sadly, not an exaggeration). Now we just have to get word on the ST:TNG table out. I think if Wil Wheaton tweeted it, it would probably reach the new goal in a couple of days. BTW, if any of you are looking for more discussion on Pinball Arcade, consider swinging by pinballarcadefans.com - we're always looking for new members.
The implication here is that after covering costs of multiplatform development, buying a table, maintaining it, digitizing it, and paying the rights to the pinball manufacturer (as in Bally, not Paramount or whoever), the typical Pinball Arcade table makes less than $55,000 profit. Now, Twilight Zone isn't your typical pinball table, but if margins are that thin, it still represents a lot of risk. You ever see Pinball Arcade in the top 100 grossing iOS apps? I haven't. I think they kinda screwed themselves between the buggy releases and splitting their app between free and paid versions. I find it pretty plausible that they have yet to see much more than $50,000 profit per table. Hasty, unpolished releases are symptomatic of "holy crap we're running out of cash and we need revenue NOW."
I think this had an effect: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1067367405/pinball-arcade-the-twilight-zone/posts/238560 They upped the rewards, or at least clarified them that if they make the $110K goal, not only would they make ST:TNG, but they would give it away to all the contributors that met the tiers that landed them free copies of TZ. Even including operator menus for $100+. I think that's pretty pessimistic, but even if you're totally correct... I'm still more than happy to keep them afloat with my contributions because at the end of the day, I'd rather have Twilight Zone (and ST:TNG and maybe Addams Family someday) playable than not, and none of the bugs I’ve encountered change the fact that this is the best pinball emulation of real pinball tables that I have ever played, so this is the team I want to digitize my (and the world’s) favorite tables. The trending and projections now look like ST:TNG is VERY possible, if not probable. I am very excited about that: http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/1067367405/pinball-arcade-the-twilight-zone/ I think even for the non-trekkies the will find that table to be quite fun. I did. It's my #2 table after Addams. But to be fair, I never had regular access to Twilight Zone, so I probably only played it once or twice in my life which was not enough to "get it". So I'm looking forward to having that experience... finally.
