These are silly arguments. By extension, Touch Arcade should shut down these forums because we shouldn't be wasting our time discussing IOS games when there are people going through war, torture, famine and death. It was a pretty bad gaffe to release something that doesn't work on the flagship product you are supporting. The fact that they are talking to people on Facebook about it is nice I guess, but it doesn't change that fact. I complain out of love. I love their tables, and will still be buying everything they put out. But not until I see that a few other people have installed them OK first.
Thats ridiculous. This is an iOS forums so we'll moan/praise iOS games here, on an NFL forum i'll whinge about my team etc. Of course theres famine/'proper' issues going on out there, so what are we all doing spending time on a games forum ? Shouldnt you be trying to raise money by sponsorship for charity or something ? The point was that THEY not us said there would be 1 or 2 tables every month and so far none. If they had said you'll get 3 a year that would have been fine but they raise the bar high by promising a lot and havent delivered. As a paying customer i'm allowed to put my view across, i'll still buy the new tables whenever they come out but its just a shame its taken so long thats all. As the guy above says i complain 'out of love' as i love the app and have bought all the tables. Of course in the whole scale of things its nothing compared to war/famine etc but come on, talk about going over the top. This is an iOS forum so talk iOS games regardless of how good/bad the world is going. Looking quickly at your post history... To people whining about this Tower defense game above, take a step back from your life and look at what's going on around the world. If people can withstand the amount of torture through war, famine, and death you can shut up if a game isnt a very good tower defense game etc ! So its bad for us to moan about an update but its fine for you to criticise stuff ? The words Pot Kettle and Black spring to mind.
So when this next update hits it will be yet another mostly for ipad type of an pdate? Or does the app have to update for the new DLC?
I just now read this....What a backwards thing to say. You wouldn't even have this app if it wasn't for Farsight in the first place. They're busting their asses to get this fixed, so just show some patience. And yes we will have the next two tables shortly as well. Once they get the game released on 360/PS3, the tables will come steadier and sooner, I promise you....so just relax and let them work. It'll all come together very soon. Again, we're very lucky that we got the game first on iOS, and a lot of people didn't expect them to release the first DLC tables until a month AFTER the console releases, so it's pretty awesome that we'll have the 2 new tables in just a few short days on iOS, and possibly before the 360 release next Wednesday, and definitely before the PS3 release .....so we as ios gamers are getting top priority, so be thankful!
The update with the new tables will be out soon. I just bought ifighter2 and now dont have enough money on my itunes card to download both tables. according to murphys law, the update should be out very soon.
Bruab paid, maybe, $10 for a game that is temporarily broken with devs doing their darndest to fix it ASAP, clearly he's got a serious legal case on his hands! I love how he keeps going back to, "It simply shouldn't have happened in the first place!" although I'm SURE if it simply weren't running properly for those of us with the iPad 1G, "Oh well, it isn't my problem."
lol. I'm pretty sure everyone is going to find a way to make it through the few days it takes for Farsight to rectify this terribly tragic situation. Stay strong everybody, we will weather this dark night of the Pinball soul together and somehow we'll get through! Btw, the update is sweet on the Ipad2. Much sharper visuals!
What a completely idiotic, ridiculous thing to say considering this is a video game forum! psj3809's got it right! +1 Nuff said.
I don't think anyone has a problem with people discussing the issues and flaws and merits of videogames. As has been noted this is a gaming forum and we're here to discuss games. Personally, I have a problem when some people act like there needs to be a congressional hearing if theres an issue with a game or update. I mean the update came out, its broken and the dev has said a fix is in the pipeline. Its not the end of the world...
A $10 game for IOS is probably top 5%. It's the equivalent of a Photoshop in this market. Farsight Studios isn't a bunch a kids making shareware in their mom's basement. They are a software development team making a livelihood by being professional developers. This wasn't an "oops, we missed some obscure set of circumstances" bug. This was a "we didn't test at all on the latest flagship hardware" bug. I would like to see lots of future releases from Farsight with lots of cool pinball tables. But I think they deserve to be criticized for releasing something this shoddy. I hope their development manager is embarrassed by this, and takes steps to fix their obviously broken release testing process. The sun will rise tomorrow whether they do this or not. But if they want to attract good developers and stay healthy as a company in general, I think it would be better for them if they do. /done_with_this_issue
Like I said, things will get better once they get all the other releases squared away, they're insanely busy right now. BTW, Mac version just went live in the Mac App Store!!!!! "The Mac version has just gone live and is featured under "New and Noteworthy" in the app store! On OSx, we're currently using similar rendering tech as we do on the new iPad, but at 1080p. We'll be updating the lighting and graphics quality to that of the consoles in the upcoming months."
You do understand that this is a small team working on porting this game almost simultaneously to at least 5 other systems (Android, 3DS, PSP, VITA, PS3, XBOX 360, and PC), before even considering all of the iOS variations? I'd even say you'd have a point if they pulled something like Take 2 Interactive did with Civilization Revolution where they dropped a glitchy update on us and never came back to make things until some 4-5 months later, but even with all of these different release across all the other systems looming, Farsight is still trying to make right on this ASAP, not even EXPECTING you to get to the back of the bus until all of the other systems ship. Other than having NOT made this horrendous mistake in your eyes, Bruab, what further could they do to make it right by you? I think the very least they could do is reimburse you for not only the cost of the game but your new, now useless, iPad 3 paperweight, right?
At the very least, people demanding app creators halt development or updates until they have the latest hardware better be prepared to buy and send that hardware to those developers. If I'm making a game that sells for NZ$1.29, is highly-regarded and well-received, yet only sells a couple of hundred copies (a familiar story around here), I'm sure as hell not buying a NZ$720+ device just so you don't throw a tantrum when that video game you spent a dollar on doesn't work the way you want it to for a couple of days.
OK, so their management is over-committing their development team, and the result is poor quality control. We should applaud that? Shrug our shoulders and just accept that IOS software is crap? So at least they didn't screw us over and ignore the market for 4 months. So be happy? As I said, Nice hyperbole, but again as I said, Believe it or not, I have huge love for Farsight Studios. They clearly really love pinball, as do I. That's why I am so disappointed in them. They're one of the few out there still carrying a torch for the old pinball tables. I don't think the "oh just give them a break" people are doing them any favors in the long run.
We're talking about a developer who charges 10x what you do, has an 8000 sq foot workplace for their development team, and has been in business for over 20 years. Not comparable.
Just let it gooooo....a fix is on the way..... And again, the Mac version is out now too in case anyone missed it!!
Actually, not only is the situation comparable, the issue is exactly the same. If you want flawless support for hardware that a developer doesn't physically have access to (whether because of release dates, cost, or other factors), then either be prepared to provide that hardware to them, or shut up and wait until they're able to get their hands on it. Unless you're claiming that these developers had pre-release access to the new iPad, they're in the same boat as everyone else. Snapping at a developer because they submitted an update that conflicted with hardware that wasn't physically available to them at the time of submission is simply unreasonable, and suggesting that they could have bought a third-gen iPad after that submission in order to test for problems - that they had no reason to believe existed in the first place - is just nonsense.
Dude, Farsight is 6 people and work in a small office http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZdO1kTFjK0 Let alone making versions for 360, PS3, Vita, OSX, iOS, PC, and Android. Something is going to slip through the cracks once and a while. You are looking at this in a perspective of only Apple/the new iPad/iOS. I need the new tables badly...
