I'd say the average is a little under that right now, but some times like during the holidays (and near new product releases) apps have taken a lot longer. It's a good conservative estimate.
I would expect that if they're bumping the graphics on the 4S, the changes will go through on the iPad 2 as well. The specs are almost identical between the two devices. Bugfixes would be nice, but at this point I'd be happy if fast app switching or locking the screen didn't crash the app and it would be kind enough to remember my camera settings.
Update is out!!! No new tables though... EDIT: do NOT update!! Menu's looks all weird and broken now! Framerate is ####ed up! Game is totally unplayable right now! I'm on the new ipad btw
Often the IAPs lag a bit behind, hopefully this is at least the build that will allow them to be purchased once they're ready (so that we only need to wait on the IAPs and not both the IAPs and the version needed to run them).
I have the same problem, also on new ipad. Menu and other screen elements like camera/pause buttons and dot matrix display are tiny. Frame rate is really bad, just like when a notification comes through.
Oh, crap, I have an iPad 1g and RBION is running smoother then ever with this update! Here I was so afraid optimizing for the new iPad would mean I'd get hosed but evidently the old fogies won this battle. I also noticed that the Wizard Goals are displaying fine (no longer that silly issue that many of us were stuck with the Standard Goals all checked off and no means to switch over to the Wizard Goals). Was this already fixed in the last update?
I saw this too, I assume it is the new revised graphics they spoke of in the patch and will probably kick in the first time we run each of the tables.
two weeks? I told here before, that it will never take to weeks to be released at the appstore after submitting. The update works fine on my Ipad 1.The tables look great, but you have to download them again. The switching between the tables is a bit jerky. But where are the new tables?
It's a shame about the new iPad issue. It looks great on the iPad 2. The tables are much sharper and crisper.
Damn it...wish I'd checked in here before smashing the update button. Kinda wonder how this could have happened, maybe the devs don't have the new ipad. Oh Well, here's hoping the update for the update will materialise soon. ...I had really hoped they would be losing the emphasis on Facebook logins too and add G.C. -So much for that.
Great update. Been giving it a quick tryout on my 4S: - Very noticeable graphics and framerate improvement. Great Job. - Fixed wizard goals, hooray! - Ball is much more visible now. No more "predator ball". - Fast app switching seems to work without crashing again. iOS 5.1 seemed to introduce a crash for me. - New table selection interface is better, though it needs a little tuning. Right now it skips past the one I want half the time. Work still to be done: - Still crashes when screen is locked. - Still overly dependant on Facebook. Hopefully the Gamecenter update will push Facebook into the background so it doesn't demand a login every time the app launches. That's really annoying. - Camera settings still aren't saved once app is quit. - As mentioned above, table selection interface could still use some work. Some very good progress made this update (apologies to new iPad owners). I look forward to trying this out on my iPad 2 and downloading the new tables later tonight. Edit: New Farsight post says the DLC is coming in the next update, and that the problem with the iPad 3 has already fixed and submitted. (Is that the update with the new tables, or is that in the next, next update?)
WTF? I play this game every F***ing day! This update is unplayable on my iPad 3. I don't know what to say. I'm a software developer, so I appreciate the work that goes into a release. But this is EXTREMELY poor. I guess these guys go into my "don't trust their releases" list.
Having a problem with TOM after update. Lower corners of the table are simply black. No graphic at all. Problem is only on top of cabinet, doesn't effect gameplay. Happening on original iPad and iPad 2.
Thanks for the suggestion. I copied my most recent backup off, now I am making a safety backup, then I'll restore the old one. I probably don't have anything critical in there since Saturday, but geez what a BIG FREAKING ANNOYANCE from a company I paid a decent price to for a game. You know, I kind of looked past the bad texture resolution and clunky interface because they had a real love for pinball, a decent physics model and were lovingly digitizing real, awesome pinball machines. But I am not a big fan of FarSight Studios right now. They need to get their act together.
You don't have to restore from a backup. There is a way that is a bit less annoying. If the old .ipa is in your iTunes library (which it is if you have synced with your computer since the game has been installed on the iPad). You can just remove it from your iPad (or whatever iOS device you're using), and then resynch with your computer. The old app (from the last time you synced with your comp) will be re-installed. Also... If you downloaded the update through iTunes on your comp, you can recover the old app from the trash, and drag it back to the mobile applications folder (be sure to remove the updated, that you don't want, app file that is already in the mobile applications folder.)
Yeah, that worked. I'm glad I saved the old backup! Thanks. I have a 64g iPad, so that saved a LOT of time. I lost all my high scores, but whatever. I can make those again.
Thanks for the warnings everyone. I love pinball on the iPad and I would have been bummed to have received this update. Perhaps someone had a deadline to meet? Someone suggested that perhaps they didn't have an iPad 3 yet, but that seems unlikely as even I (small limited budget dev) made sure to get one asap. Anyways, sounds like a pretty big blunder, but I'll give them the chance to make it right. Like I have a chioce
