Yeah, I have that bug in Ripley's. The first time I cleared the normal goals it showed me the wizard goals, but now when I go back it's checked off normal goals again. Also had a lot of lost ball problems on that table, but that's usually cleared up with the Call Attendant button... usually. Didn't stop me from getting a 100,000,000+ score last night, though. I'm guessing that Ripley's and ToM are the buggier tables because Farsight has the least experience with them. They've had plenty of time to polish up their Black Hole and Arabian Nights simulations. With patience, I'm sure they'll hammer out the bugs in the new titles.
Oh, crap weasels, I'm hitting the same issue! Evidently you only get to see the Wizard Goals right after the Standard Goals are cleared but then then it flips back to the Standard Goals the next time the game is loaded.
what I find funny is that there is a dot displayed after the free play message on the dot matrix display, this means there is an error. probably just time and date not set but still funny if you know how a real life pinball machine from bally/williams works.
Yep, I noticed that on ToM too, but I seem to recall that there were some games that put up a dot if a certain feature was not achieved in some period of time, the game guessing that then there must be a problem. I'm not 100% sure, though. Still, maybe we just suck. LOL. I have yet to get to the wizard mode (I'm struggling with consistent play on ToM), so maybe it will clear whenever I get to that. I'm not sure though. For those wondering how to get static cams - you need to press and HOLD on the camera button to toggle between moving and static mode. You'll see a lock icon in the button if it's in static mode.
That would depend entirely upon what games you like. For me my favorites of this initial set are Ripley's Believe it or Not and Black Hole. I would have said Theatre of Magic, but I'm not entirely happy with how it plays here. Tales of the Arabian Nights I've never been that enamored with, and we had it before in Pinball Hall of Fame Williams Collection, so I can't get excited about that one. Others will give you a completely different answer.
What do you like in your Pinball? Black Hole is good for high speed minimalistic retro fun, Theatre of Magic is kind of similar to Arabian Nights, and Ripley's is also in the vein of Arabian Nights albeit, I believe, a bit more confusing as to how all of the missions work and link together.
Stupid question - if you get the free version, can you buy TOTAN as an IAP, and what does it cost? 99 cents?
Not sure what I like exactly in pinball, but I am enjoying the Arabian nights table so far. I gave Ripleys 1 go around but found it confusing. My favorite pinball game so far on iOS is Tristan so i guess i like the retro tables. Thanks for the input. Im sure ill give them all a spin in due time
While I think Black Hole's lower reversed sub-table is clever, I'm addicted to the 90's little dot matrix animated missions and such. If you thought AN's missions and such were fun I think ToM might be a good call. They're definitely unique tables but, at least to me, seem to be of the same style (were these the two tables designed by the same guy)?
I hope they get rid of the "Play as a guest" screen that pops up on app (fresh) launch. Not only is it irritating to have to click through, but it looks terribly ugly. Leave the facebook login crap to the login button that is everywhere else. I love the game and tables, and look forward to more, but all the menus and buttons etc could do with some serious rework.
I'm finding the black hole table brutal, I can't get anywhere on it. The ball drains way too often through the lower left drain and the gap seems too big between the flippers. I can't believe this is one of the most profitable tables ever made, I bet most games didn't last more than 30 seconds.
Well, this was an instant purchase for me. I prefer real tables to computer or iPad pinball, but it's got to the stage where even large seaside amusement arcades don't have decent well maintained pinball machines any more. So what's a girl to do? The physics on this isn't too bad, though 'too repetitive' as so many people have noted. The only computer pinball that has ever convinced me in terms of handling like a pin table is Pro Pinball (particularly Timeshock and Fantastic Journey). I'd like to see those converted for the iPad. One thing those games had that was pretty commendable was that you could get into the entire diagnostic/maintenance menus, and you could set the game to simulate either brand new (and hence a bit skittery), run-in but fast, needing a clean, or needing proper maintenance. I don't like Pinball HD; the ball feels too small. Actually, I'll go further. The ball *is* too small. It's as if these people designed their game without ever actually having played a pinball machine, and I find that barely credible. Zen pinball breaks the illusion (because really this is all methadone for actual physical pinball machines as far as I'm concerned). As far as PA goes, I liked being able to turn off the moving camera, but I hate that the game flips into a high view during multiball. I assume that's deliberate rather than a bug, but I'm 5ft 1 and I've played a lot of pinball. I don't suddenly grow a foot every time I get a multiball. I want to keep my low, fixed aspect please. I've mostly been playing ToM; obviously the settings are very generous but it still seems to play more easily than an actual table would. I think, for example, that it is very hard, rather than trivial, to make the far right loop shot to advance the clock, so that getting an EB at 6pm isn't by any means a forgone conclusion. This may be because of a lack of variation/subtlety in the physics? I have a long list of wishlist tables as i'm sure most people do (Attack from Mars, Twilight Zone, Creature from the Black Lagoon, White Water, Xenon, Black Knight, No Fear...) -- so it's definitely worth supporting these people to try and get our faves made. Hope we'll see the devs on here too.
Man, ball is not small, it's table too big )) Anyway you can't find tables from Pinball HD in real life, they are pure virtual.
You are right, I find it very difficult to nudge. Ok, lets rephrase, the black hole table is a LOT harder than the 3 other tables which I can play relatively well, unless you are proficient at nudging (which I am not).
Older games tend to have shorter ball times. Just don't fret about it, and try to do better on your next play. It's all relative - it's not like it's costing you per play here. LOL.
Yeah, I don't understand the camera switch either. I started that multi all without the high camera, why do I need it now? I'd appreciate a toggle in the options for that.
