all you need to care about is the head of the ship, which is the only place that can get hit. thats all i do. and take out the turrets that send off more bullets first.
Selachii, for the first real content update (which I'm guessing will come 2-3 months down the line) I think you should look at adding a few new gunships and turrets which make full use of the new HD engine. Right now the wow factor on the weaponry is tilted too much in favor of the playerships, we need a few big beasts to fight which would really make the player go "omg that thing is crazy!" h9lz444, firstly there are tips in the original Phoenix thread... I think. And my tips are: 1. Recognize the types of turrets and associate them with which type of bullet patterns they throw. Take out the ones that trouble you the most first. Usually I'll take out boomerangs first. 2. Get familiar with the position of the cockpit, 90% of the time you shouldn't need to look at the ship to know where your cockpit is. During huge waves try and be precise with your movements rather than panic. In Phoenix panicking is the straight path to death, you can die VERY quickly if you panic. 3. Always aim to destroy turrets to get life and pickups. 4. Recognize the types of Alpha Strikes, the guided missile strike is godly and a total life saver. Homing lasers are great too. You should try to keep those to save your butt when you are in a mess. And in pickups, always keep a life pickup as the highest priority. Whenever you see one, dump your cargo and pick it up. Even if you have to waste your EMP. 5. Know when to take a hit, sometimes you just have to take a hit to get into a better position in order to destroy a turret rather than just destroy the whole ship.
thank you very much for your tips ! as a beginner its nice to know some people here can help you have more fun with the game you just fell in love ! just another question, how can i be more precise with the aiming at turrets when i choose to play mirage or corsair ? if i'm not completly wrong they are autoaiming with missles/lasers am i ?
The Mighty Corsair ============== The Corsair will start locking onto a turret when you stay in front of it for a bit, as soon as it locks on you will hear a sound an the Corsair will start launching barrage missiles at the target. You can add more turrets as targets, but this will reduce the potency of your guided barrage missiles as they will be split among the targets, usually it's best to target just the one turret that's troubling you. However, on later ships it's sometimes beneficial to lock onto more targets. Don't forget that the Corsair does have two great front firing weapons, namely the Rockets and the Gatling Gun. Don't forget to use those in conjunction with the lock to quickly dispatch a turret. Shadow Warrior, Mirage ================== The Mirage auto targets turrets, and also has sweeping lasers that move back and forth among the targets. It only has one front firing weapon, the side lasers, but they can be handy in a pinch. The key to using the Mirage is being able to dodge really well, since you are always doing a good deal of damage to the enemy turrets wherever you are on the screen. Secondly, try to keep the Nightfury up and running when a new enemy ship is about enter the screen, most of the time you will be able to take out one turret as soon as it shows up. During larger waves you won't be able to stay still long enough to use the Nightfury, so don't try, unless there are some rest spots in the waves. Finally, you CAN move with the Nightfury firing but only at a tiny rate, however sometimes just this tiny bit can be enough to help you get rid of an enemy ship quickly. Btw I've gotten all my high scores with the Mirage; 2.9mil, 3.4mil, 4.3mil.
Selachii, would it be possible for you to give us a dps summary for all the ships and their weapons? wilflare, the iAPs are totally worth it. I would say buy a new ship when you get bored with the Phoenix. Start with the Corsair. And if you want to be on the leaderboards get the pass. I didn't really need the pass, but I just wanted to buy all the iAPs to support the dev

It seems to always auto select more than one turret for me when I play... Btw, awesome game!!
bought the Online Pass and Corsair. haha half of me doesn't want to buy Mirage, but half of me goes "why not"
Bytebrain, the only way to achieve that is to not hang around in front of the other turrets for too long while your nemesis turret is being dispatched. Sometimes this is simply not possible as you might be stuck in front of a different turret weaving through a bullet pattern. In that case you should try to deal the maximum damage to the turret in front of you to get rid of it asap so your barrage missiles return to the more important target. wilflare, get the Mirage when you feel like you've seen all that Phoenix HD has to offer
I just did haha! couldn't resist oh well hahaha got my highest score with Corsair! relying too much on the Nightfury laser lol, causing death
It's so much fun to play around with the Nightfury! Sometimes I'll wipe out the 3-turrent enemy ship with it straight off, with the level-3 beam. Love it when that happens, the thing barely knows what hit it
bagofeyes, most of the scores are from the original build. And the general consensus seems to be that the HD build is tougher. What is your highest score? wilflare, and you high score with the Corsair?
Got it, thanks. I was somehow under the impression that I could chose which target and how many somehow.
Haha, bit of a gambling man ey'? "Just one more millisecond!...awwwww" ----- Oh and I'll stress again, the HD version is not tougher ----- Ok, a dps breakdown of all the weapons. That's an easy one as every weapon has the same dps. Each level adds the same amount of dps. This is the only reason we can give out weapons and weapon upgrades randomly, as the dps increase is always the same. The characteristics of each weapon are different though, giving an extra bit of flavor to each playthrough. Fast shooting weapons have less damage per projectile, while slow firing weapons have more damage per projectile. I will characterise the weapons for you though. Phoenix: - Helix; This is the standard weapon you start with and delivers a constant stream of projectiles. - Chaingun; The fast blue projectiles located on the wings. This gun adds a bit of spread to the arsenal. - Tachyon; Very fast straight shooting weapons on the wingtips. This weapon shoots fast projectiles but at a very low rate, as a result these projectiles do a lot of damage. -Missiles; These homing missiles are amongst the best in the game as they aim for operational turrets specifically. Corsair: - Wasps; This is the starting weapons and shoots swarms of little homing missiles that aim for any part of the enemy ship. - Torpedo; This slow moving, slow turning, missile slightly aims towards enemies but brings a very explosive warhead along. - Rockets; These straight firing rockets rapidly accelerate forward and are fired in bursts. - Machine gun; To make up for the amount of indirect projectiles, the Corsair carries a rapid fire machine gun to pepper its target with fast projectiles. Special: Barrage Missile; When the Corsair is able to lock on to a turret it will fire its dedicated Barrage Missile batteries specifically at this turret until it is destroyed. Mirage: - Point Defense; These tiny lasers come as standard and are always aiming for enemy ships. - Sweepers; Next to the cockpit are two big moveable laser canons that are able to track enemy targets and create big sweeping beams, searching for ships to burn. - Pods; The outer pods of the Mirage provide a constant damage output aimed straight ahead. Special: Nightfury Laser; When the Mirage does not move it gathers its energy to fire off it's spectacular center mounted laser canon. While the ship remains still the laser gains strength to reach it's ultimate power at Level 3. It can only sustain shooting at Level 3 for a limited time, but this is more than enough to blast away most of its enemies. Most of you counting will notice that the Mirage has less weapons than the other ships. To counter this, the weapons on the mirage have more levels to upgrade. Hope this answers your question for dps or provides some extra insight
Personal Best is at 781,040 with Corsair I'm looking forward to new content updates (hopefully free :X) and I'm reading on GAF for one user: Please look into it, more people need to enjoy this game EDIT: went to your facebook and found out about the upcoming fix! one bug though, my gamecenter isn't updated. I still stand at zero achievements Using iPad 2 OS4.3.5
Just got this game, and I like it a lot. Bought the online pass after a few minutes. However, I have a request: Please add a volume control, so we can make the sound effects MUCH louder. I ask this because I don't like the game music (it's too slow IMO), so I want to play with my own iPod music. But the iPod music volume is way louder than the sound effects, and almost totally drowns them out. Thanks! ALSO: Please add iCade support! Thanks!
