I figured maybe it was forthcoming, but wow I'm an idiot. Never tried scrolling down. Thanks, time to go try it out!

Love it! Especially useful in determining which turrets have the most health for using the other ships.

I assume the damage increases 1x>2x>4x for the longer locks? And any other nuances to be aware of?

The damage scales a bit differently, but the idea is that Tier 1 and Tier 2 are straight up power increases. Tier 3 is slightly stronger than 2 and as a bonus delivers it's dps over a longer time, so it will last multiple encounters. There are tons of nuances, which I have no doubt you will find over time. Everyone experiences them in a different way so please share yours :)

And you're not an idiot, we've had this question multiple times so we failed here with our interface. Something to improve on for us.

Thank you very much for answering my questions, Selachii!
I'm thinking to possibly make a video, perhaps around 10 -15 minutes, about the game, how to improve your score and utilize power ups, etc. Any idea what's a good app to record gameplay/voice?

How does the player, "Dominator" have 78m points but doesn't show up on the "World" ranking? I also don't understand how his score is 3x higher than the 2nd highest score recorded. Amazing if it's legit!

Another game-related question: How do you efficiently use the point defense drone? When not many enemies are shooting bombs I can usually fly close to them and slowly move away, which typically gets rid of all of them, but other times it just doesn't pick it up. If there are multiple bullets around, is it random which ones get disposed of?
Short format: Please explain to me the inner workings of the point defense drone.

    Thank you!

  5. Wish we could get free drones once in a while. Maybe a daily spin? That would be cool, would make me play the game more if there was a chance to play with a drone.

I've found that on average I get more coins in a run than the drone costs if I use one, because they help so much, especially the point defense drone. So they basically are free if I play reasonably well. In fact I don't like using the point defense drone boost often because it's too effective and makes the game less fun. The boosts I like using are extra powerups and extra health. Those two feel like they make the game a little easier without affecting the game play much. I think of them as a substitute for a difficulty setting. Plus I like that it puts a little extra pressure on me, because if I use boosts then I feel like I need to survive at least long enough to get enough coins to pay for the boosts I used.

I couldn't imagine life without the point defense drone, even if I don't 100% understand how to use it.

It seems to just go back and forth in front of you occasionally eating bullets at regular intervals. Having it there makes it more likely that you'll find an open path to steer your ship through. I don't know if there's more to using it than that. I suppose if you pick up on the rhythm of when it activates you could intentionally be in the right place to have it take out certain heavy bullet patterns, but it's hard for me to imagine being able to spare enough attention to keep track of what it's doing like that.

  9. Do drones really help? Maybe cause I am not too good, they don't seem cost effective to me. I would figure the better player you are, the more effective right?

Hmm you can't really 'use' a drone. The point defense drone does try to remain in front of the player as much as possible, so you can direct it where to go a bit. It targets the projectile that's the closest and has a fairly short range. A pro tip though, it is able to remove those big mirv/bomb projectiles as well, it takes a bit more time, but that will remove the entire projectile, which potentially saves you a bucket load of trouble :)

You are most welcome. We capture all our video using an external capture device called the Elgato Game Capture HD. Most screen recording apps used to be jailbreak software, so I never really looked into software solutions anymore.

This sounds like a cheating score. Don't worry, we make sure the Leaderboards remain legit. If you are unsure about a score, wait a couple of hours or till the next day, if the score is still there it is legit, we are ruthless ;)

I actually have Elgato to record gameplay of my console games. I'm assuming you mean I should somehow hook up Phoenix to the big screen and play it off of that. Don't think I have the equipment to do so though. Just wanna help spread the game, especially cause the few friends I've gotten to play it say it's too hard after a few million points, so I want to make a video since I consistently get at least 8 million per run.

Well that would be awesome of course :) The "only" thing needed is a Lightning AV adapter (or 30-pin, depends on your iOS device). Then you plug that straight into your Elgato. No need to loop it back to the big screen (though you can) because you can see it on the device screen itself anyway :)

I have an iPhone 5 and a Macbook pro laptop.
Could you please link me the adaptor you mentioned?
I'm assuming it will have a circular head to plug into since the USB end of Elgato goes into my laptop.

  14. This is a good thread for more HDMI and iOS Console Info.

So yeah, plug this Apple cable in your iPhone 5. Then run an HDMI from that to the Elgato Game Capture HD which connects to your macbook via USB :)

Hey guys, our Phoenix HD "Big Screen" update is now live :)

AirPlay, HDMI Adapter and AV Adapter performance has been improved and the screen is filled with a cool realtime effect. Pairing your iOS device with an MFI controller or iCade will get you a complete 'console' experience.

We understand not many people play on a big screen, but this is a lot of fun and looks great! Give it a try and let me know what you think :)

Regarding the effectiveness of the Point Defence Drone I feel this gameplay shows it well as even 1 hit as the phantom is lethal (world ranking has dropped a lot so little outdated)

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=liymJM5WIvw

    >Opens gaps in bullet formations that are impossible not to get hit by.
    >makes bullets that don't disappear from the scouts much easier to handle.
    >by 'following' a large mass of bullets (eg 3 exploding ones) you can clear a large portion of the bullets.

Hey guys, just wanted to drop in with a quick post about Phoenix HD and the Phoenix 2 app that accidentally appeared on the store last night and was spotted here.

First, yes that app was real. Second, it was also old. I think it landed on the store because at some point this was a "date in the far far future". It's basically a container for some tests and mechanics we come across and sometimes show :) Sure it will become a game some time, but this was not it.

Don't worry, I don't bite! It's our own human error that put it there.

In the mean time, we continue to add content to Phoenix HD as well, this baby is not going anywhere :)
