I agree with you, there is no shame in having a fireball like vstick option. But the haterz flame away.
Oh me! me! me! Pick me! Pick me! I got an idea for a ship! LOL... Seriously though, an idea. How about a ship with lock-on mechanism, similar to Corsair's but with lesser duration on the lock. As long as it is locked on a turret, a sort of "cloud" or drone hover over the target rendering it useless (or "stunned" in the usual gaming sense). Only 1 stun cloud can be released at a time, so it will be the player's job to target which turret to disable. Upgrading the weapons will increase the stun duration. Im sure El can come up with some ideas, maybe expand on it. Thoughts?
Do the turrets take on damage from being stunned? I like how you used the word 'cloud' though, since we could name this vessel The Farter, LOL, and it disables the enemy turrets with a puff of poisonous fart gas We really need better emoticons on this forum.
From being stunned, no. But they take damage from all other sources like normal. It's main strength is that it'll render 1 turret useless for a short duration while you deal out damage. It would also be balanced to put a cooldown on the stun cloud (EMP cloud?) so that bosses with only 1 turret left will still be able to shoot but only when the stun cloud is cooling down.
It seems a bit under-powered to me figuring you can buy drones that help you by dealing damage and destroying bullets
Best wishes guys. Hmm, this must be the first year i didn't make a seasonal greetings image...ah well Lots of imba cool stuff coming from us, all of which we had originally planned for 2013, but alas, it will be 2014 This includes a new ship for Phoenix HD, which is a while off, but I can tell you that it will probably involve locking onto stuff! So E-P, you are a bit warm with that part of your idea Of course we are still concepting so I will not dive into specifics yet Regarding the stun-cloud, the initial tingle from my 'generic design philosophy' muscle feels that this does not jive with "short gameplay sessions with explosive action." (don't take this personal plz, I'm just challenging your idea, feel free to return the favor ) Though disabling something of choice is a cool concept, on itself it would only extend the player life. This makes the sessions longer, so I guess this ship would then also need to be of the 1hit=boom category Nothing wrong with that, we love that! Or do the remaining turrets get more firepower? It also does not keep the player 'occupied' after the lock is achieved. The Corsair keeps you busy as you can keep locking and locks disappear when the turrets are destroyed. So there should be more to this stun-cloud-wielding-ship. What destructive abilities does the ship have itself? Maybe its guns deal double damage on anything in the stun-cloud? Locking is very much tied to the location of the player when the enemy ship flies in, anything to change that? Tapping on the turret perhaps? So many options! Just entertaining you guys with some questions that pop into my mind when I read your suggestions. I like this idea of a cloud though it brings some challenges of its own. It is fresh though, certainly a departure from Sumo's ever returning toothpaste-laser suggestions <3
Nah... too OP. If a boss only has 4 turrets you basically just destroyed 3 at most just by locking on.
The toothpaste laser is old in concept, but not much different, since my original suggestion was for it to lock on to and disable turrets.
Geez, I think I may start missing out again once this new update hits. On the bright side, I think I'm going with buying the new iPad Mini Retina as soon as I could find some way to get the finance to do so. Right now there's nothing left to hinder my experience with the iPad on iOS 7 with its jailbreak already out. Btw, anyone have a heads-up for me how playing Phoenix HD might feel like on iPad Mini Retina? I'm excited to get my hands on it, but not sure when I'll head to an Apple store to buy one.
Absorption and reflection work well in shooters. I like the concept of absorbing bullets and then using them back against the enemy in some fashion. The reflecting shield in Sine Mora was a good example of bouncing bullets back at the enemy. It was probably the most useful ability available.
