My point is mainly that if you compare the original Phoenix with the latest version, the advances in player ships are far more than advances in the enemies. If we are still some ways off from the end of Phoenix HD's life cycle then putting things in balance will reinvigorate the product to a great degree. However, if you are already moving towards a new game then obviously it makes sense to not invest as much resources to Phoenix HD. In either case I'm much more interested in any future content from you guys now that you have changed your iAP tactics.
I believe all iPads are having a hard time with iOS 7, Connector. The Apps/Games are the responsibility of the devs (I mean, the hardware is still just as capable), but the performance in the home screen etc is something for Apple. edit: @sapphire_neo: Thanks sapphire. The whole truth (and nothing but the truth) is that we are always experimenting, trying new things and seeing how it works out (both 'business'- and gameplay wise). We have done new enemies in the past and might do so again in the future. We were limited by some factors back then, but the situation has changed, so who knows.
Thanks, ios 7.0.2 fixed all the weird ipad 3 retina issues, so most is good now. Blazing star still doesn't work, I wonder if it is icade related like it was for plasma sky. Volbard had to disable icade to get it to work. Anyway, hope to see the ios controllers soon, I assume it will be shown off at the ipad 5 reveal. Looking forward to the ipad 5.
Hey, I noticed some games like Dariusburst or vector games or 3d looking games or iphone only games look better on ios7. Is there a reason for it? Different textures, anti aliasing, blurring, or other aspects that are in ios 7? Does ios 7 have advanced graphical effects that are different from ios 6 coding wise?
It does support some new OpenGL instructions, but I don't think that's what you are seeing Are you sure they look better? I mean, compared screenshots or is it just a feeling? We'll be submitting a new update soon. It won't have much exciting stuff for you guys in terms of content though. Some minor technical fixes (like displaying the proper gift icon when you use Airdrop) and localisation of the new features (which we skipped to make sure the update was in time for iOS 7). Did any of you guys try the Airdrop gift yet? It is really really cool (and I don't want to spoil it )
What do you mean not exciting? The proper gift icon for airdrop sounds amazing!!! Six different ways to accomplish the same task, with little change in the task itself, right sapphire? An emphasis on new enemies, new patterns, new backgrounds would be just as welcome as a new ship, but does not preclude the addition of yet another ship in addition to that emphasis
I dunno, just some games seem crisper than before, most notably Dariusburst, vector games, iphone only games, and some others. Seems like some games that upgrades say ios 7 seem to run better now after those updates. But yeah, it is just from playing them, so there is nothing documentable. Curious if those new opengl commands will make a difference. Look forward to the update. Anything that ios 7 could do to make this game better?
In that case it's just the new-ness of iOS 7 clouding your judgement Well there's a lot of nice stuff behind the scenes of iOS 7. Stuff that makes our life easier, but alas, we're still supporting iOS 6 as well. It's always a bit of a shame when you can't just stick to the new stuff. Well it is technically possible to go iOS 7 only, but that wouldn't be very wise for us
Yeah, that could be the case, or it could be that some updates have passed since I last played a game. Though Dariusburst does seem so much better now. Got another weird problem from ios 7, the not pushing notifications error, guess. I may have to wipe my ipad after all. Anyway, is there anything that ios 7 can do to help games like phoenix hd? And is it not possible to have the functions on for ios 7, and not for ios 6? Or is it too hard?
My 150,000 coins from my iPhone Phoenix didn't transfer over to my iPad via 'THE CLOUD' for some reason. Hmph.
@sumo: hmm, make sure they are both logged in to the same (phoenix hd) account SumoSplash, it's not possible that 2 devices on the same account report a different amount of coins. Please let me know, we'll make sure you didn't lose anything! @connector: we are using whatever benefit iOS 7 has provided for Phoenix HD (like AirDrop etc) as well as supporting iOS 6. iOS 6 is not really holding us back, but that will probably change in the far future, who knows I'm kinda disappointed nobody here airdropped to someone yet
I wasn't even signed in, haha. Yeah, had to enter my e-mail and password and restart the app and that got it back. All good. I'm not even sure what Airdrop is. I know it's there. Is it a way to send the app to someone else via Bluetooth or something?
AirDrop is an iOS 7 feature that allows like a sort-off peer-to-peer transfer of files and information. We have added a feature to give presents from one Phoenix HD app to another (if Phoenix HD isn't installed it will ask to install it first). ps. you can't give gifts to yourself! pps. the gift is listed in the Armory if you are allowed to give one.
Near is a relative term. I'm closer to the Netherlands than I am Australia. Well, at least I think so Soooooo, I can Airdrop an IAP or something? What else could I potentially send from one app to another?
I can't even find anyone near me that owns another device with Phoenix HD Whatever, I can't get iOS 7 as much as I want to. (My iTouch 4G can't upgrade to iOS 7...those Apple bastards! ) And I guess...you'll have to find out that cool AirDrop feature yourself, Sumo. I'm not really thinking that El is going to quite tell you.
Hmm, I am very interested in this airdrop feature just to see what it's like - problem is I live in the third largest city in my country and I'd say only 100-200 people probably still touch their games! (Based on shogun-phantom players) If you make it more obvious in the game, like a button that lets you airdrop an item to someone close to you rather than making it a surprise, it could encourage the spread of the game . I've had problems getting people into the game though... I don't think 1 person has picked PHD up after sharing it on facebook I think people having the iOS AND being into Shmups is quite a hard combo to find in people.
Yeah, general first reaction to Phoenix HD screenshots is "wow that looks great, but those games are really not my thing". However, many of them who did play it, actually enjoy it a lot now. We have a lot "I normally don't play these games/any games, but this one is quite fun and stays on my phone" reviews. The airdrop present is always in your armory as soon as it becomes available. It does not expire and can be sent to people who don't have phoenix hd.
