Universal Phoenix HD - A Modern Arcade Shmup (by Firi Games)

It takes a while getting used to the one hit death yeah. Some tips:
* Try to hold a power-up at all time, whatever it is (shield, emp etc). It allows you to be hit one additional time.
* When in doubt / panic, let go of the screen. In ghost mode you can always evaluate when to touch the screen again or to just let it run out and let the built-in EMP clear a path for you.

If you die with any energy in your ghost bar it either means didn't use ghost mode enough or were taken by surprise

El have you considered making a shield with extended duration available in the shop?

 

As you might guess we have considered many sort of thing. In what way do you mean though? That the current shield would have a longer duration if it would drop?

 

Either that or you just have the regular and a second shield that is bought, but door number one would probably be easiest.

 

HA! Or a different type of shield, maybe one that does DAMAGE. If you're shielded and touch the enemy ships it does 'things' to them. Fun things (ahem, sets them on fire, or something equally as devious).

Yeh, but what if it doesn't drop, then it must be a sort of permanent upgrade and we don't really like that direction business wise (like temple run I guess?). Maybe in the future, I mean, never say never
Next update will be mostly UI and iOS7 support, maybe we'll see the return of the coin doubler in some shape or form, no promises ;>

 

Well, how about the extra health drops? You could do the same with the shield and have them drop more often, or have them drop more often and last a little longer. Same concept really.

After posting and reading the Danmaku 2 thread, come back to this one, and have to say this thread still gives me hope for shmup threads. A nice peaceful pleasant informative thread about a great shmup.

I've played other good iOS shmups but this is the first one to really give me that pure arcade shmup rush. Really fun game and utterly gorgeous looking too...

Zevious, I've tried danmaku 1 and 2 and like them, but something about the unpredictability of this adds to the thrill!

 

All of them.

Everyone will give you a different answer to this difficult question You might as well number five pieces of paper, crumple them up, place them in a jar, shake the jar and then pull one or two pieces of paper out of the jar. Whichever numbers you pick will determine which you should buy first, with the Corsair being #2 and the Phantom being #6, obviously.

 

I have l the ships.

I think the trinity is the funnest and most unique.

Then I probably like the corsair with cool missiles.

 

Yeah, the Trinity has the most well-rounded mechanics and offers the most in depth experience, in my opinion. From there it is a toss up between the Corsair and the very, VERY underrated Mirage. I'd probably then go with the Phoenix, followed by a second toss up between the Shogun and Phantom.

Funny thing is, someone else will give a list in the exact opposite order
