Are any of the achievements broken? I landed the top score in Texas and number 2 in North America and didn't get the State/Providence one
Well - I just wasted a BUNCH of coins... I selected the Extra Powerups, Vulcan Drone, Point Defense Drone, Phoenix Wake and Phoenix Revive to try going for a 'high-scoring' game. My end score? 170k. Somehow - I hit a projectile while going through the Phoenix Wake, used my Revive, and then my game ended right after the Revive animation. Is there any way to make the Phantom invincible during the Wake period while you're flying through ships? This is kind of upsetting... with the slower movement during the Wake period, and the bullets flying at about 400% of their normal speed towards your ship... it's a little unfair.
@alexq: Those achievements should not be broken (i know i've earned them in the past), that said, game center can be quite a pain to work with. Please go to the 'your scores' screen and zoom to the approrpriate level and check your scores, sometimes this helps. Let me know! @synthic: Interesting, please mail your post (+any details you might have) and your User Identifier to [email protected]. We'll sort you out (Your user identifier can be found in your device settings, scroll down to phoenix hd)
Also - was reading some of the 'reviews' in iTunes (in the US store) - and you guys might want to make it a little more clear how the Phantom works. People seem to not be getting it. =oP
Yeah - I just updated my iTunes 'review' - but I doubt any of them will be coming back to see if someone has helped them out. That's not really how the iTunes 'reviewers' really do things.... =o/
*sigh* There's really no getting around the fact that we're just the best (Playing a Top Gun montage in my mind. You be Goose, since you're the newest member to the Phoenix HD fan club. I'll be Maverick. Synthetic can be Iceman, since he wishes he was as cool as Maverick. Selachii can be the Tom Skerritt character, obviously).
I just tested what you were saying. I bought the Phoenix Wake only, started the game and then died in the middle of the wake. If you take your finger off the screen during the wake then you take on damage and die before the wake ends.
I thought that might have something to do with it... I wasn't holding down on the screen when the game started, and as soon as I had enough energy to enter ghost mode, I automatically did. =o/ Thanks for that.
No problem, Iceman It should still be invincible though, regardless of whether you're holding down the screen or not. People are going to lose A LOT of coin and then throw tantrums. I can see the future, and that is how it will play out.
I finally figured out what is causing my indifference with the Phantom. It is an equal amount of effort to anticipate the natural dodge of a bullet pattern as it is for me to let my finger off the screen and enter Ghost mode to accomplish the same task. Because of this, I often find myself micromanaging if I should dodge or Ghost, which often leads to doing neither correctly and a quick death. In other words, Ghosting isn't something that I would naturally gravitate towards doing over dodging (even though it may be beneficial at certain points). I Ghost even less than I should on top of this since I lose the Overdrive beam for too long. It's either dodge and don't lose the Overdrive or Ghost and lose it. I find myself almost never Ghosting, since I can't really find the incentive to do so as being more beneficial than not, overall. Fun regardless and still enjoyable, but awkward nonetheless.
Thanks for the details on the Wake problem. I was able to reproduce it, so we'll fix it at some point Regarding the iTunes reviews, we won't be able to do anything about those, we can only hope they'll eventually figure out how it works and come around in the end. This was the case with the Shogun and Trinity as well. Some of the problems are caused by people playing with hacked versions of the game. Even getting an 'official' install now might be affected by having previously played with a hacked version. Nothing to do about that either. @SumoSplash: I had this problem as well, but at some point you have to embrace Ghost Mode. Using the EMP at the end is also a very important mechanic, especially at high level as clearing the screen of bullets might give you the window you need to destroy the enemies. Don't be too obsessed with Overdrive, yes it's nice but even without it the dps of the Phantom is pretty high and focussed. I snipe my turrets like I drink my beers.... ... ice cold! -Iceman
I've definitely been trying to embrace my inner Ghost Mode, but whenever I do I feel naked without my precious Overdrive beam. I'll keep at it, for the sake of Firi Games, Touch Arcade and all us Top Gunners. And btw El, you aren't the Iceman, you're the colonel. Sheesh, pay attention EDIT: I have been using the EMP for when the energy bar runs out. The issue I have with this is that if you choose to go this route it becomes very risky. Since the bar has to be partially refilled to be able to go into Ghost Mode again, it may not be refilled fast enough if you have to drop back into Ghost Mode quickly. Which brings me to another question... You very rarely tweak the ships after they've been released, but I thought I'd ask anyway... Any chance of making the energy bar refill at a faster rate? It just feels arduously slow. Before you start thinking I am repeating myself, this is a SEPARATE question from my other Overdrive questions. It also doesn't seem like the green energy particles do all that much to help it fill that much faster, either. I know, I know. Doing so would change the gameplay too much. Meh... I just wish this ship was a little more in favor of the player. A tweak like that would make it so. Oh, and one more question... I am assuming the EMP power is greatest if you let the bar fill all the way up and then let it run down? And one more question on top of that... Does the beam stay the same strength the entire time until you reach Overdrive, or does it increase in strength the closer it gets (just not visually)?
The more energy you consume, the stronger the EMP that follows it Sniping turrets will help you regain energy faster. The beam has 2 strengths: normal and overdrive. There's no gradual values between or beyond these
Wake up to see myself third and eager to see who the comp was but in the end, definitely a hacker and definitely not worth competing against.
